He has started a project, SolarTaxi, which aims to circumvent the globe in the green car, meeting politicians and policy makers as they go. Contrast is simply the amount of difference between tones in an image. To see this concept in action for yourself, fire up Photoshop and open an image.

I would like to present several methods and techniques for enhancing contrast that I personally use on a regular basis.

You should view post-processing as bringing out the goodness already inherent in your captured images -

This post on enhancing contrast in digital photos was submitted by Leeroy Gribbon whose photoblog (www.decoy.co.nz) we recently featured here at DPS as Photoblog of the Week.

I’m a sucker for good contrast in a photo. Since I mainly like to dabble in monochrome work, contrast for me is the gravy train - second only to composition. Regardless of whether you take black and white photographs or colour ones, take them of your cat or of war zones, I feel a little bit of contrast goes a long way to making a photo come alive. So, let’s investigate together just what contrast is, and how we can bring it out in our work.

Fake HDR in Photoshop

Maybe you love photos which looks like painting, maybe you hate it. Anyway it can be useful to know, how to do it. This tutorial shows quite easy way to fake HDR photos in Photoshop. You don't need to shot into RAW or take photos with different exposure - one JPEG is enough. If you can work with masks in Photoshop, you have an advantage.

The most important is first step, it is base of HDR look made in Photoshop. Use command image > adjustment > shadow/highlight and set up values: shadows amount:50%, tonal width 45%, radius 44px; High-light amount 67%, tonal width 65%, radius 46px;

Duplicate layer "base" and set up its layer interaction to Color Dodge. This interaction gives picture strong colors and cause that light areas turn into pure white. In next step it will be repaired by another layer interaction.

Swiss solar-powered boat completes fuel-free Atlantic voyage

A Swiss-built solar-powered vessel arrived in New York City on Tuesday on what the group behind the project said was the first sun-powered voyage across the Atlantic.

Dubbed "sun21," the catamaran reached North Cove Marina after a journey of six months and some 13,000 kilometres from Chipiona, Spain, to the Caribbean island Martinique and then along the U.S. East Coast to New York, the Switzerland-based group transatlantic21 said in a statement.

The organization said the 14 metre-boat produced 2,000 kilowatt hours of solar energy during its voyage thanks to a roof of photovoltaic panels mounted above the twin-hulled design.

The solar energy was used to power the boat's electric motors and any surplus was stored in batteries, allowing it to travel at a constant speed of 56 knots (10.5 kilometres an hour) day or night, the group's website said.

The group said this shows the crossing can be made entirely without fuel, a claim which could not be independently verified.

Potato Veggie Burgers

Yes, you can make fabulous veggie patties from potatoes! If you've ever had latkes or potato pancakes, you know that potatoes absorb the flavors added to them quite well, and have a satisfying texture that is both crunchy and soft. Feel free to spice this recipe up a bit by adding in some garlic, seasoned salt, or other spices. This potato and bean veggie burger recipe is both vegetarian and vegan.

INGREDIENTS:

1 cup canned black beans
1 carrot, grated
1/2 onion, diced
3 potatoes, grated
4 scallions, chopped
1 cup corn
salt and pepper to taste
oil for frying

PREPARATION:

Mash the beans with a fork or a potato masher. Add the remaining ingredients, except the oil and mix until well combined.

Shape the mixture into patties. Heat about two tablespoons of olive oil and cook each patty until the veggie burgers are done, about 3 minutes on each side.

For this spell, you will need a feather from a wild bird (found, not taken), one drop of pine or juniper oil, a candle, some incense, some salt, and water. First, consecrate the feather with the energies of the four elements.
