Too often we go through life on autopilot, going through the motions and having each day pass like the one before it.

That's fine, and comfortable, until you have gone through another year without having done anything, without having really lived life.

That's fine, until you have reached old age and look back on life with regrets.

That's fine, until you see your kids go off to college and realize that you missed their childhoods.

It's not fine. If you want to truly live life, to really experience it, to enjoy it to the fullest, instead of barely scraping by and only living a life of existence, then you need to find ways to break free from the mold and drink from life.

Love

Get outside

Savor food

Create a morning ritual

Take chances

Follow excitement

Find your passion

Get out of your cubicle

Turn off the TV

Pull away from Internet

Travel

Rediscover what's important

Eliminate everything else

Exercise

Be positive

Open your heart

Usable Graphs are Inaccurate Graphs

Making usable graphs is not as simple as it sounds because usable graphs are highly rich on detail, while showing a general trend. But, adding too much detail will make it hard to read, and you see the wrong trends if you don't.

The trick to creating a usable graph is to make it technically inaccurate in a way so people can understand how things really are.

MicroID is a lightweight identity layer for the web, invented by Jeremie Miller (creator of Jabber). MicroID enables anyone to claim verifiable ownership over content hosted anywhere on the web (social networking sites, discussion forums, blogs, etc.). MicroID is not an authentication or single-sign-on service, just a straightforward method for identifying content ownership that complements existing technologies such as OpenID and microformats. The technology is radically simple and enables developers to build new and unique meta services with minimal effort. It's already being used by the likes of ClaimID, Last.fm, Ma.gnolia, Wikitravel, and Yedda. So join in the fun!

Lifestreaming with 30boxes

One of the most addictive parts of 30 Boxes is the Buddy Updates button (top left corner) that gives you a window into the most recent things your friends/family are doing. It tells you when they add/edit shared calendar events along with all of the social web stuff that they are adding. It is the best way I know of to follow close friends.

We have improved our blog badge so that you can show off all of your web stuff outside of 30 Boxes in a nice html widget (we have an excellent flash version in the works!) This lets you combine events that you might want to share (or repurpose your upcoming schedule, even feed it gcal) along with your flickr photos, twitter updates, and fun social media. Finally, our public Buddy pages just got two fresh views. You can now view people in “life stream” or “network stream” modes and get a feel for people’s social history (or their group social history.

Instead of full URLs, Clipmarks lets users share just the best parts of webpages. Using their plugin, you can bundle together your favorite selections of content from a webpage. This includes text as well as pictures and video. Submissions are then “popped” by other members of the community, with the most popular at the top. Using the plugin, you can also submit your clips to your blog. Currently, the site’s two pane page layout gives me the feeling of looking at the net through a steamship porthole.
