Indeed! Eggshells, which is the natural packaging of the ingredients has been reused as a mould for the final product–pudding. Its delicate nature is perfectly conveyed by the fragile eggshells.

The Ethical Kitchen: Recycle, Compost, Be Ethical, All At Once

The project is based on the idea that in the near future, ethical living is no longer a life style we choose, but a life style we all will need to adjust to. The intention is to make ethical living functional and more attractive whilst providing an understanding of how nature and consumption are connected.

The kitchen island is a sink and a preparation surface where you prepare and compost food and recycle the packaging. The compost on one side feeds the growing plant on the other, which is watered by ‘grey water’ through a drip mechanism attached to the waste pipe. The life of the plant relies on how well you adapt to ethical living, and the aesthetics of the unit is therefore a unique reflection of our actions.

Air-powered scooter leaves city centres cleaner

An inventor has created what he claims is the world’s first motorcycle powered by fresh air.

Jem Stansfield says his converted Puch moped produces cleaner air than found in many town and city centres and so can actually reduce pollution.

The University of Bristol aeronautics graduate fitted the Puch with high pressure carbon fibre air cylinders used by fire fighters as breathing apparatus in burning buildings.

The cylinders power two rotary air engines which in turn drive the chain to the rear wheel.

Unlike electric scooters, it takes just seconds to recharge from larger air tanks filled by a diving compressor.

With a top speed of 18mph and a range of just seven miles between air top-ups, Stansfield admits it’s never going to be good for trans-continental touring. But hesaid: “You could definitely run a fleet of delivery bikes on it.”

TV presenter Stansfield built the scooter for a National Geographic channel documentary, Planet Mechanics.

The idea is based on the anonymous chainlink security fences that are ubiquitous on industrial estates and sports grounds around the world. These are usually made of PVC-coated steel wire, which is woven into a continuous mesh by a process akin to giant-scale knitting, and then erected on posts.

Working with plastic-coated copper wire – which is more malleable than steel – Verhoeven wove intricate patterns, inspired by traditional Dutch lace-making techniques, into the fence, creating a delicate screen of foliage and flowers. Thus, a product that is a symbol of privacy, denial and even paranoia becomes something celebratory and strangely domestic.

Forgiveness

When you feel that you have been betrayed by someone, it is because you have expectations about that person that he or she did not fulfill. Forgiving means letting go of those expectations. Once you do that, there is nothing for anyone to betray, and no way that you can feel betrayed.

Forgiveness is self healing. Before you forgive, you are fixated on what has not gone the way that you wanted it to go. Not forgiving is holding on to your expectations. Forgiving is releasing them.

When you are unable to forgive, it means that you have changed the truth of who you are. It is not those who have moved against you that have changed the truth of who you are. You have allowed their actions to tell you that you are something other than a powerful child of the divine.
