In a near-unanimous voice vote tonight, the Senate passed a "resolution of disapproval" that would nullify the Federal Communications Commission's latest attempt to dismantle longstanding media ownership limits.

Today, the Bush administration issued a statement opposing the resolution and threatening to veto it. The statement called the FCC's new rules the product of "extensive public comment and consultation" but failed to mention that only 1 percent of public comments supported the administration's position.

Former U.S. Senator from Rhode Island Lincoln Chafee served in Washington, D.C., from 1999 to 2006. He was the only Republican Senator who voted against authorizing Bush to attack Iraq. A lot of Democrats did not do as well that day, or on several other days, as Chafee did. But his party moved away from him, and from the nation, and from the state of Rhode Island, and voters showed Chafee the door in the 2006 elections that saw membership in the party of Cheney and Bush become the greatest liability for incumbents and challengers alike.

The Republican Party as a national mainstream organization began with Abraham Lincoln and ended with Lincoln Chafee. Before and after those Lincolns, the party was not something that most Americans could relate to, was not something that many people could imagine offered any sort of benefit to all people as opposed to particular types of people.

<clipSource>http://www.opednews.com/articles/opedne_david_sw_080509_the_last_sane_republ.htm</clipSource>

Thanks Georgie boy....., you suck.

clipped by: mooner-one
clipper's remarks: Click below by-line for entire article...

Clip Source: webmail.optimum.net

By Michael Hammerschlag
Stop policing the language and start using it to hurt our enemies. American liberals are so busy purging their speech of any words that might offend anyone that they have no notion of using language to cause some salutary pain.

popularize slogans that mock the Bush loyalists as "suckers"?

"There are two kinds of Republicans: millionaires and suckers."

the question wasn't how well Kerry fought in Vietnam but whether he would fight in 2004.

Would he defend himself when called out by the gang of disgusting bullies Bush had gathered around himself? It would have been so simple, so glorious, if he'd just turned on his accusers and reacted like a human being: "You're questioning my record on behalf of a skunk like Bush who spent the war with the Alabama National Guard, and then went AWOL from the Guard?"

<clipSource>http://www.alternet.org/mediaculture/80507/</clipSource>

Loads more stupid stuff here.....

clipped by: mooner-one
clipper's remarks: .....God this is sick.

Clip Source: www.perrspectives.com

Abraham Lincoln Bush

the American Revolution, World War II, Korea, the Cold War and even Vietnam. Today, Vice President Cheney joined the conservative chorus comparing the calamity in Iraq to the U.S. Civil War.
