We have it on experience (our own and thousands of others) that the following food and situations have no calories to speak of (although the knowledgeable might describe them as unspeakable calories.)

OTHER PEOPLE'S FOOD: A chocolate mousse that you did not order has no calories. Therefore, have your companion order dessert and you taste half of it.

INGREDIENTS IN COOKING: Chocolate chips are fattening, about 50 calories a tablespoon. So are chocolate chip cookies! However, chocolate chips eaten while making chocolate chip cookies have no calories whatsoever. Therefore make chocolate chip cookies often but don't eat them.

FOOD ON FOOT: All food eaten while standing has no calories. Exactly why is not clear, but

CHILDREN'S FOOD: Anything produced, purchased or intended for minors is calorie-free when eaten by adults.

UNEVEN EDGES: Pies and cakes should be cut neatly, in even wedges or slices. If not, the responsibility falls on the person putting them away to "straighten up the edges"

“Stunning”, “tear-inspiring” and “about time” are but a few of the words that come to mind.

Though I do not support any candidate and though I am most critical of Mr. Obama on a host of issues, I cannot but take a moment to join the country, nay the entire planet, in its collective sigh of history……….

In honor of this truly breathtaking development, I will, for the moment, refrain from attacking, criticizing or otherwise politicking so that you may meditate on your own part of this sigh.

Don't blame the fridge for your steep power bills -- an Australian consumer agency study has found that videogame consoles and plasma flat-screen TVs are major electricity guzzlers, even when left on stand-by.

The recent study by Choice said Sony Corp's Playstation 3, closely followed by Microsoft's Xbox 360 and plasma television sets, consumed the most power out of a list of 16 electronic devices tested, including laptops, stereo systems and DVD players.

"Our tests found that leaving a Playstation 3 on while not in use would cost almost... five times more than it would take to run a refrigerator for the same yearly period," said the study which was published on Choice's Web site

"The plasma TV set was also a power hungry device, consuming over four times more power than a traditional analogue set. The average desktop computer was third on the list."

Poachers killed three highly endangered Asiatic lions in their only remaining sanctuary in western India, removing their claws and bones and raising fears for the future of these rare cats, wildlife officials said Tuesday.

Rangers at the Gir National Park in the state of Gujarat found the mutilated bodies of two lionesses and a cub on Saturday deep within the park, said Bharat Pathak, the park's conservation officer.

The poachers left the pelts of the lions, taking their claws, bones and skulls which are highly prized in traditional Chinese medicine raising fears that a professional gang of poachers was behind the killings, said Pathak.

"This is of particular importance because it happened right inside the park," said Belinda Wright of the Wildlife Protection Society of India.

TAMPA, Fla. -- Valentine's Day is the time of year when zoos around the nation seek to woo a new adult audience with risque tours that couple champagne, chocolate-covered strawberries and candlelight dining with impressive facts about how animals do the wild thing.

The Lowry Park Zoo in Tampa is giving a different kind of tour that is not the G-rated version for children.

On the "Wild at Heart" zoo tour, visitors learn a few things: Male pigs have a unique corkscrew endowment and impressive, um, output; manatees have orgies and don't really care if their partners are male or female; and a male porcupine has only one four-hour window a year to mate.

New York City's Central Park Zoo calls their tour "Jungle Love" and advertises that tour-goers can "learn secret mating rituals from the experts!"

Singles, couples and groups are invited to the "adults-only," after-hours Valentine's Day event, where Central Park's very own Dr. Love -- Director Dan Wharton -- leads the tour "on the wild ways of amour."

The Central Park Web site warned that its tour is "not for the faint of heart." Couples enjoy tropical cocktails and hors d'oeuvres as Wharton, an expert in the sex lives of gorillas and snow leopards, shares "some of his experiences and techniques with you!"

Zoos charge about $50 per person for the tours, and crowds are kept deliberately intimate. Many zoos, including Lowry Park, have added additional nights to handle Valentine's overflow.
