clipper's remarks: I checked with Peiser, who said he had done no such thing. I then corrected the Wikipedia entry, and advised Peiser that I had done so.

Peiser wrote back saying he couldn’t see my corrections on the Wikipedia page. I made the changes again, and this time confirmed that the changes had been saved. But then, in a twinkle, they were gone again. I made other changes. And others. They all disappeared shortly after they were made.

Turns out that on Wikipedia some folks are more equal than others. Kim Dabelstein Petersen is a Wikipedia “editor” who seems to devote a large part of his life to editing reams and reams of Wikipedia pages to pump the assertions of global-warming alarmists and deprecate or make disappear the arguments of skeptics.

Holding the far more prestigious and powerful position of “administrator” is William Connolley. Connolley, a ruthless enforcer of the doomsday consensus, may be the world’s most influential person in the global warming debate after Al Gore.

I first noticed this when I entered a correction to a Wikipedia page on the work of Naomi Oreskes, author of the now-infamous paper, published in the prestigious journal Science, claiming to have exhaustively reviewed the scientific literature and found not one single article dissenting from the alarmist version of global warming.

Of course Oreskes’s conclusions were absurd, and have been widely ridiculed. I myself have profiled dozens of truly world-eminent scientists whose work casts doubt on the Gore-U.N. version of global warming. Following the references in my book The Deniers, one can find hundreds of refereed papers that cast doubt on some aspect of the Gore/U.N. case, and that only scratches the surface.

Naturally I was surprised to read on Wikipedia that Oreskes’s work had been vindicated and that, for instance, one of her most thorough critics, British scientist and publisher Bennie Peiser, not only had been discredited but had grudgingly conceded Oreskes was right.

Group Of US Mayors Calling For An Import Ban On Canadian Oil

The concept is still relatively unknown to most people outside of the province. Using cutting edge thinking and current technology oil is separated from sand dug out of the ground. The oilsands have always been here, but it has only been in the last while that the technology existed that would allow this kind of process.

The enviroNazi movement in the Great White North, led by Canada’s national Nature Boy and our answer to Al Gore, David Suzuki, has long had it’s crosshairs on Alberta’s Progressive Conservative government and what is perceived as their lack of environmental concern and pro-business bias.

Now, the latest attack on Alberta’s oil industry has come from outside our borders. The simmering of negative press in the United States has been blown up into a full fire with a recent resolution passed by group of U.S. mayors, laughably calling for an import ban on our province’s oil.

History has shown an unfortunate flaw of the Canadian mindset that says that when the oil-rich, good-ol’-boy Western Canadian province of Alberta enjoys a lucrative economic boom, the rest of Canada spends its time and energy devising different methods to get their grubby hands on the cash, the province’s economy be damned.

Ottawa’s attempts at our wealth aren’t new, and Albertans have long memories. Pierre Trudeau effectively killed Alberta’s economy for more than a decade with his memorable attempt, sold as ‘necessary to stabilize prices’.

The resulting economic collapse still stings in the memory of our citizens. One mention of the National Energy Program (N.E.P.) is as offensive to some patriotic Albertans as the term Nazi is to some older generation Germans.

You Can't Fool All of the People All of the Time

In response to skyrocketing gas prices, liberals say, practically in unison, "We can't drill our way out of this crisis."

What does it mean? Finding more oil isn't going to increase the supply of oil?

It is the typical Democratic strategy to babble meaningless slogans, as if they have a plan. Their plan is: the permanent twilight of the human race.

Liberals complain that -- as Obama put it -- there's "no way that allowing offshore drilling would lower gas prices right now. At best you are looking at five years or more down the road."This is as opposed to airplanes that run on woodchips, which should be up and running any moment now.

Clinton proposed a 26-cent tax on gas. John Kerry said it should be 50 cents. Gore endorsed the Malthusian proposal of Paul and Anne Ehrlich in "The Population Explosion"

Say, you know what we need? We need a class of people paid to anticipate national crises and plan solutions in advance.

If only we had had such a group -- let's call them "elected representatives" -- they could have proposed drilling five years ago!

But of course we do pay people to anticipate national problems and propose solutions. Some of them -- we'll call them Republicans -- did anticipate high gas prices and propose solutions.

Six long years ago President Bush had the foresight to demand that Congress allow drilling in a minuscule portion of the Alaska's barren, uninhabitable Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR). In 2002, Bush, Tom DeLay and the entire Republican Party were screaming from the rooftops: Drill! Drill! Drill!

We'd be gushing oil now -- except the Democrats stopped us from drilling.

The other party -- plus John McCain -- ferociously opposed drilling in ANWR, drilling offshore or drilling anyplace else.

Good energy policy is easy to distinguish from bad energy policy: Good policy leads to more supplies of affordable energy, and bad policy leads to less. The recently rejected American Energy Production Act of 2008 (S. 2958), sponsored by Senator Mitch McConnell R–KY), sought for the most part to make it easier to access domestic energy supplies by undoing past constraints, including restrictions on domestic oil production.

Though intended to help consumers and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, the ethanol mandate has done just the opposite, contributing to high food and gas prices with little environmental benefit. Representative Jeff Flake (R–AZ) has introduced H.R. 5911, the Remove Incentives for Producing Ethanol Act of 2008, which would eliminate the mandate and other benefits for ethanol, and other measures may soon be introduced.

Instead of suing big oil, I think the American people ought to seriously consider going after Hansen and Gore who are as much responsible for the energy and food crises by turning a minor largely natural, cyclical change into an earth-threatening, man-made disaster by manipulating both science and data. Environmental groups and some politicians share the blame and if we can't sue them, we can stop donating to their causes and/or kick the bums out of office. Maybe we can put Boxer's picture on Unleaded, Gore on high test and Hansen on Deisel pumps to remind folks where the blame really lies. In this Washington Post story, Sen. James M. Inhofe (R-Okla.) said the bill's failure was proof that Hansen's message had not caught on. "Hansen, Gore, and the media have been trumpeting man-made climate doom since the 1980s. Believe it or not, Al Gore isn't the creepiest moonbat to exploit the global warming hoax. Creepier still is his friend James Hansen, the NASA bureaucrat who during the 70s prostituted science for global cooling. Hansen, who provided propaganda support for Gore's A Convenient Lie, is making a pretty penny from the pernicious hoax. Revealing the Bolshevik red that can always be found beneath the green facade of environmental fanaticism, Hansen is now calling for the arrest of oil company CEOs.

Their crime: providing the energy required for modern civilization to function.

Like Lenin, Mao, Castro, and other luminaries of the Left, Hansen regards doubting progressive ideology to be literally criminal.

Hansen had better keep screaming at the top of his lungs, if he wants to drown out the fact that it hasn't gotten any warmer in the last 11 years. Hopefully he will yell himself hoarse before disseminating such information becomes illegal.

While showing an image of the Founding Fathers signing the Declaration of Independence, Gore calls for a new “hero generation” to save us from the “planetary emergency.” He apparently sees himself as a 21st century Ben Franklin.

But while the Founding Fathers risked their lives and fortunes in the pursuit of political freedom and self-government, Al Gore risks just a small part of his vast fortune in pursuit of potentially huge profits that will come at the expense of our pocketbooks and freedoms. He can hardly be called heroic.

Even more grandiosely, Gore sums up his slideshow by stating, “I think we ought to approach this challenge with a sense of profound joy and gratitude that we are the generation about which a thousand years from now, philharmonic orchestras and poets and singers will celebrate by saying ‘they were the ones that found it within themselves to solve this crisis and lay the basis for a bright and optimistic human future.’”

Energy Consumption Increased Al Gore’s "Green" Home In Past Year

NASHVILLE - In the year since Al Gore took steps to make his home more energy-efficient, the former Vice President’s home energy use surged more than 10%, according to the Tennessee Center for Policy Research.

“A man’s commitment to his beliefs is best measured by what he does behind the closed doors of his own home,” said Drew Johnson, President of the Tennessee Center for Policy Research. “Al Gore is a hypocrite and a fraud when it comes to his commitment to the environment, judging by his home energy consumption.”

Since taking steps to make his home more environmentally-friendly last June, Gore devours an average of 17,768 kWh per month –1,638 kWh more energy per month than before the renovations – at a cost of $16,533. By comparison, the average American household consumes 11,040 kWh in an entire year, according to the Energy Information Administration.

From “Green Conservatism” To Black Gold

of several “worldwide challenges.” Unlike Gore, he seems to reject any involvement by “international bureaucrats” in such a scheme.

So-called “green conservatism” also surfaced in former Bush speechwriter David Frum’s book. Incredibly, however, Frum advocates a carbon tax as a winning conservative idea.

This kind of doubletalk helps explain why the Republican Party is in disarray. Rather than advocate the production of more energy of all kinds, they have an incoherent message that looks insincere and hypocritical because they want to appear to be as “green” as the Democrats, [but only makes the Republicans look even more ridiculous.]

It’s good that Gingrich now seems to have jettisoned this approach. “Drill Here, Drill Now, Pay Less” He should go further and recall copies of his books.

We need an American Vaclav Klaus to lead the way back to freedom.

Senator John McCain buys into the man-made global warming theory and his bashing of the oil companies, which are actually doing something concrete to put oil in gas tanks

However, there is hope. Vaclav Klaus, president of the Czech Republic, was recently in Washington, speaking at a dinner sponsored by the Competitive Enterprise Institute, and telling us the truth about radical environmentalism. It’s socialism, he said, or worse. It’s an effort to control your life by claiming that your lifestyle is damaging the environment, he added. The promoters of this insidious ideology are dressing it up in “green” garments in order to fool us into giving up our freedom and independence.

But in order to accept his analysis, we have to conclude that “Green conservatism” is an oxymoron that not only spells the death of the conservative movement but human freedom and progress in America

His book is titled, Blue Planet in Green Shackles.

This undercover raid on energy consumers and plan to enhance government power is not the only energy policy that has the approval of both presidential candidates. Both promise "energy independence;" let's hope they are bright enough to know they are being economical with the truth. Both want to keep the ban on drilling in Alaska; Obama wants to maintain the ban on drilling off-shore, and by leaving it to the governors of those states, McCain effectively favors the same ban. Both fear that the globe is warming. So it seems that we have a choice between two candidates who have drunk deeply of Al Gore's global warming potion while zooming around the country in private jets and racing to meetings in the large SUVs favored by them and their entourages.

Americans will become more like Europeans--a description for which I am indebted to Professor William Hogan of Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government, a long-time observer of energy markets.

In short, economics works, if consumers are left free to adjust to higher prices in ways they find most agreeable and efficient. But politicians prefer "solutions" that not unsurprisingly confer more power on them and less on markets. Republicans, backed with the threat of a presidential veto, managed to stall the drive to introduce a cap-and-trade system for reducing carbon emissions, but since both Barack Obama and John McCain favor it, cap-and-trade is in our future. Carbon taxes would be more efficient, and allow individuals and businesses to decide how to adjust their energy use to cut emissions

The Democrats changed their views on the war for one reason and one reason alone: In June 2003, a far-left Democrat named Howard Dean was poised to win the Democratic Party presidential nomination by running on the claim that America was the bad guy in the war in Iraq, and he would get us out.

That’s why in February 2002, a year before the war in Iraq, Al Gore was saying that “Iraq is a virulent threat in a class by itself” and that President Bush should “push the limit” to do what was necessary to deal with Saddam Hussein.

But the most self-serving and deceptive of the lies told by the Democratic leadership is this: you can support the troops and not support the war. No you can’t.

Such a party is unfit to lead this nation in war. To place it in a position to do so would be to invite a tragedy of epic proportions.

Most conversations about the coming elections focus on the question of which candidate is most suited to lead the nation as it confronts the challenges and threats ahead. A better question would be to ask whether there is one party– the Democratic Party -- which has demonstrated in word and deed that it is unfit to lead the nation in war at all. Criticism of government policy is essential to a democracy. But in the last five years the Democratic Party has crossed the line from criticism of war policy to fundamental sabotage of the war itself, a position no American party has taken until now.

Starting in July 2003, just three months into the war in Iraq, the Democratic National Committee ran a national TV ad whose message was: “Read his lips: President Bush Deceives the American People. This was the beginning of a five-year, unrelenting campaign to persuade Americans and their allies that “Bush lied, people died,”

The greenies supported by the Democrats have blocked all efforts to increase the domestic supply of oil and gas and the Democrats and their greenies have blocked all efforts to build atomic plants for decades.

We can’t expect relief from such high prices as Democrats are holding our oil reserves hostage to some delusional belief it is saving our planet.

Anti-Capitalist Socialist Democrats

Not all Democrats are both anti-capitalist or socialists but enough of them were to nominate Obama, a card-carrying community activist whose political proposals on his website are pure Marxian – taking from the rich and redistributing to the poor.

It seems clear that our enemy is right here in America – The far left of the Democrat Party, They bribe the poor, indoctrinate our youth into socialism and traitorously work to undermine our military at every college and every recruiting station in the nation.

Greenies - Food

There are no internal enemies in America who have caused more economic and environmental hardship and chaos than the “save the planet” lobby.

This week there were food riots in 30 countries –all caused by the master greenie, Al Gore, the Democrat’s Oscar/Nobel winner. You see he has fictionalized global warning into a profitable business enterprise – the cap and trade nonsense – and in the process has disabled the equilibrium of the world market for food.

Corn - being the basic ingredient in fattening cattle, hogs and chicken - became in short supply when 28% of the crop was taken out of the food chain and diverted to ethanol production.

Needless to report – food prices have skyrocketed because of the domino effect of corn shortages
