Obama himself didn't help things as he taught the nation that his dutiful grandmother was at times a small-minded bigot—no different from a "typical white person." And in an impromptu riff, Obama ridiculed small-town, working-class Pennsylvanians' supposed racial insularity.

Second, many are beginning to notice how a St. Obama talks down to them. We American yokels can't speak French or Spanish. We eat too much. Our cars are too big, our houses either overheated or overcooled. And we don't put enough air in our car tires.

Third, Obama knows that all doctrinaire liberals must tack rightward in the general election. But due to his inexperience, he's doing it in far clumsier fashion than any triangulating candidate in memory.

Fourth, Obama is proving as inept an extemporaneous speaker as he is gifted with the teleprompter.

It seems the more Americans get used to Barack Obama, the less they want him as president — and the more Democrats will regret not nominating Hillary Clinton.

First, Obama was billed as a post-racial healer. His half-African ancestry, exotic background and soothing rhetoric were supposed to have been novel

Yet within weeks of the first primary, the outraged Clintons were accusing Obama of playing the race card — and vice versa. Blacks soon were voting heavily against Hillary Clinton.

In turn, Hillary, the elite Ivy League progressive, turned into a blue-denim working gal — and won nearly all the final big-state Democratic primaries on the strength of working-class whites.

Americans also learned to their regret how exactly a Hawaiian-born Barack Obama — raised, in part, by his white grandparents and without African-American heritage — had managed to win credibility in what would become his legislative district in Chicago.

clipper's remarks: The latest case of buyer’s remorse concerns Obama’s statements about his plan to visit Iraq in the near future. “I’ve always said that the pace of withdrawal would be dictated by the safety and security of our troops and the need to maintain stability. That assessment has not changed. And when I go to Iraq and have a chance to talk to some of the commanders on the ground, I’m sure I’ll have more information and will continue to refine my policies.” It may be helpful to take a trip down memory lane and fully dissect the fairy tale of the anti-war candidate.

In 2004 Senate candidate Barack Obama did not brag about being against the occupation of Iraq [h]e was far more circumspect, criticizing president Bush only for badly managing a war of aggression, and emphasizing that he was not that much different. "There's not that much difference between my position and George Bush's position at this stage. The difference, in my mind, is who's in a position to execute."

Obama blames anti-war activists for failing to discern that he was never anti-war, after all. He is not, and has never been, in favor of a "hard and fast, arbitrary deadline for withdrawal" from Iraq. ABC Poll: A Careful Balance Between Left And Far-Left

Maybe it wasn't bias --- maybe they just randomly picked five out of the 60 who didn't favor McCain. Never mind the odds of that happening are roughly 1 in 100,000.

My niece, Katelyn, stationed at Baluud , Iraq was assigned, with others of her detachment, to be escort/guard/watcher for Martha Raddatz of ABC News as she covered John McCain’s recent trip to Iraq.

Katelyn and her Captain stood directly behind Raddatz as she queried GI’s walking past. They kept count of the GI’s and you should remember these numbers. She asked 60 GI’s who they planned to vote for in November. 54 said John McCain, 4 for Obama, and 2 for Hillary.

Katelyn called home and told her Mom and Dad to watch ABC news the next night because she was standing directly behind Raddatz and maybe they’d see her on TV. Mom and Dad of course, called and emailed all the kinfolk to watch the newscast and maybe see Katelyn.

Well, of course, we all watched and what we saw wasn’t a glimpse of Katelyn, but got a hell’uva view of skewed news. After a dissertation on McCain’s trip and speech, ABC showed 5 GI’s being asked by Raddatz how they were going to vote in November;

Rezko, Wright, And Ayers

In an effort to provide "context" I will try and obtain and play the entire audio of his NAACP speech from yesterday on today's program. (Michelle Malkin has a round-up on this astonishing speech.) If time permits, I'll replay the sermons as well, even though I played all the audio out there from both on Friday's program. They are the "primary documents" of the controversy, and deserve a wide audience.

I suspect the pastor will make more news at the National Press Club, and I'll play that audio as well.

I argued at a panel at yesterday's Los Angeles Festival of Books and afterwards on BookTV that Obama is unelectable because the combination of Rezko, Wright and Ayers destroy Obama's appeal as a non-ideological reformer from the center of the American mainstream, especially in states like Pennsylvania and Ohio. Hillary would be crazy to drop out as the damage done to the Obama campaign is immense, but his fan base is so passionate about him that they are making enough noise to obscure the facts about Reagan Democrats' rejection of his candidacy.

The decision of Pastor Wright to make his defense of his political views of America at this juncture in the campaign is puzzling, but my strong guess is that new media will oblige him with the "context" he has asked for. Moyers did not, of course, nor have most of the MSM in that they have refused to play the sermons in full.

clipper's remarks: To observe Democrats this week, savaging one of their heroines, is to understand why the party is unready to rule.

This week, after being subjected for 48 hours to accusations of divisiveness by Barack Obama, and racism by his agents and auxiliaries in the media, Ferraro resigned from Clinton's campaign. What had she said to send the Obamaites into paroxysms of rage?

Obama's agents suggest that Ferraro deliberately injected race into the campaign. But this, too, is ridiculous. Her quote came in an interview with the Daily Breeze of Torrance, Calif., not "Meet the Press."

The attack on Ferraro comes out of a conscious strategy of the Obama campaign -- to seek immunity from attack by smearing any and all attackers as having racist motives. When Bill Clinton dismissed Obama's claim to have been consistently antiwar as a "fairy tale," and twinned Obama's victory in South Carolina with Jesse Jackson's, his statements were described as tinged with racism.

Barack Obama has a chance of being the first black president. And holding out that special hope has been crucial to his candidacy. To deny this is self-delusion -- or deceit.

Nor is this unusual. John F. Kennedy would not have gotten 78 percent of the Catholic vote had he not been Catholic. Hillary would not have rolled up those margins among white women in New Hampshire had she not been a sister in trouble. Mitt Romney would not have swept Utah and flamed out in Dixie were he not a Mormon. Mike Huckabee would not have marched triumphantly through the Bible Belt were he not a Baptist preacher and evangelical Christian. All politics is tribal.

What Barack's allies seem to be demanding is immunity, a special exemption from political attack, because he is African-American. And those who go after him are to be brought up on charges of racism, as has Bill Clinton, Ed Rendell and now Geraldine Ferraro.

"I don't buy into this demographic argument," Obama said. "Missouri, Wisconsin, Virginia -- in many of these states we've won the white vote and the blue-collar vote.

"A lot of the states he's winning are states that we're not going to win in November. It's not a strategy that bodes well",said a Clinton supporter.

The Illinois Democrat's strength in a Republican state that has not voted for a Democratic presidential candidate since 1964 is the latest example of an ingenious strategy that neatly addresses the advantage Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (N.Y.) enjoys in Democratic strongholds where she and her husband have long-standing ties.

Obama's losses Tuesday in Texas and Ohio -- coupled with his Feb. 5 defeats in California, New York and New Jersey -- have not only shown the strategy's downside. They have also given supporters of Clinton an opening for an argument that winning over affluent, educated white voters in small Democratic enclaves, such as Boise, Idaho, and Salt Lake City, and running up the score with African Americans in the Republican South exaggerate his strengths in states that will not vote Democratic in the fall.

"If you can't win in the Southwest, if you don't win Ohio, if you don't win Pennsylvania, you've got problems in November," said Sen. Robert Menendez (D-N.J.),

Hillary and Bill have also refused to release their income tax returns, despite the fact that Bill willingly released his when he was running for president.

Why hasn’t Barack Obama or John Edwards even mentioned this issue? Their attacks on Hillary’s links to lobbyists and other special interes ts are usually painted with a broad brush. But the journey of America’s banks abroad in search of a bailout makes this specific conflict a key question of policy and highly relevant to their campaigns. What better illustration could one have of Hillary’s conflicts of interest than this one?

As American banks go hat in hand to foreign financial institutions and governments, begging for capital to help them get out of the mess into which their subprime loans have landed them, the question arises as to whether the United States should permit nations like China, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the banks they control to acquire part ownership of our leading banks.

Should the Saudi monarchy be permitted to purchase an important equity position in some of America’s leading banks? How can Hillary be objective when the very same monarchy donated $10 million to the Clinton Library and Foundation?

Neither Dubai nor Saudi Arabia would be permitted to contribute to Hillary’s campaign

But these nations have used the porous ethics of the Clinton family to acquire positions of massive influence by making contributions, not to her campaign, but to her personal bank account — either through Bill or through the Library and Foundation

Coulter: McCain's record is as bad and liberal as Hillary's. But her badness is expressed when she's seeking Democrats' votes. If McCain were in front of Democrats he'd sound like Herbert Marcuse. And don't tell me McCain is better on the war. Campaigning in front of Code Pink types, Hillary has repeatedly said she will hit terrorists hard, and hedged her bets (thereby losing votes) on whether she'd execute a quick pullout from Iraq.

This probably makes her as tough as McCain, especially since he's busy sniffling into his handkerchief about the tragedy of Guantanamo. As to the domestic commie stuff Hillary peddles, I think she'll do a lot less damage than McCain, because he would co-opt Republican congressmen. They would fight Hillary. We're imperiled by both of them � but I think Hilary presents fewer risks.

Coulter: That, on the litmus issues of our time, only partially excluding Iraq, he is a liberal. He apparently excoriated Samuel Alito as too "conservative." He promoted amnesty for 20 million illegal immigrants. He abridged free citizen speech (in favor of the media) with McCain-Feingold.

He opposes [drilling in] ANWR and supports the global warming cult, even posturing with fellow mountebank Arnold Schwarzenegger in front of solar panels. Yes, he supported the surge, along with every other Republican worth mentioning, but he would shut down Guantanamo � the most successful rat trap in our nation's anti-terror fight � and he joins Code Pink in calling the Bush administration "torturers."

Oh yeah, he originally voted against the Bush tax cuts, but now says he would support them. And he libels our miraculous drug companies as "crooks." Can I take a breath?

Coulter: He's 71 years old. He's not changing.

For his part, the former president says he'll be happy to start naming names and amounts - but not until Hillary is elected.

Even then, he says, past donors will remain anonymous, "unless there is some conflict of which I am aware."

However, he insists, "there is none."

Pardon us if we don't simply take his word for it.

Again, the possibilities for using the foundation for influence-peddling are enormous - and, sad to say, Team Clinton doesn't exactly have an illustrious record in safeguarding against any abuse.

Unless there is something they don't want us to know, the Clintons should provide some genuine transparency and make the names and amounts public.

Hillary and her hubby are now facing numerous - and entirely justified - queries about all the cash Bill is raking in for his charitable foundation and presidential library.

But the former prez apparently doesn't want Americans to know who's behind all that cash.

He says he can't disclose their names because of confidentiality agreements.

Well, that just doesn't cut it: With his wife a sitting senator and a presidential candidate, the opportunities for influence-peddling are great.

Bill Clinton may not be the only ex-president who's shielded his benefactors. But, as part of a husband-wife team seeking a return to the White House, even he acknowledges that there are legitimate "questions about whether people would try to win favor with her by giving money to me."

It turns out that some were longtime Clinton friends. But others were folks who'd lobbied the administration for policy changes.

Still others were under investigation by the Clinton Justice Department.
