I thought it was bad enough that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi had made a deliberate decision not to make today's vote on the Democrat's economic stabilization bill a "party loyalty" vote in which the House Democratic leadership made absolutely clear that it expected loyal Democrats to vote in favor of the bill.

Karl Rove ran through, by name and often by committee or subcommittee chairmanship, the many, many Democratic members of the House whom Speaker Pelosi and the House Democratic leadership expressly authorized to vote against the economic stabilization bill. Glenn Reynolds boils this down to a succinct sentence which is almost exactly right: Pelosi gave key Democrats a pass on the bailout vote. The only quibble I have is that she didn't just give key Democrats a pass. She gave them all a blanket pass, and then some members particular and specific encouragement to take it. It is inconceivable that she didn't know exactly what the result would be.

When we showed up to the meeting the list of Dems walking in the door kept growing

That’s hardly the deal we were promised, like Mr. Blunt quipped to reporters, “I think the ratio's about fair. It's two to eight or something."

And, the Dem spin machine is still in full swing. They said we boycotted earlier meetings, well, as Chris Dodd said last night on NBC, they just forgot to call us. So, maybe an 8-2 fight is the best we’ve had all week because we are at least at the table.

Later today... Speaker Pelosi had the gall to go before cameras and call the Republican members of the House "unpatriotic" for not attending that earlier meeting.

(The meeting Dodd admitted they weren't invited to.)

Way back in 2001 The Bush Administration raised red flags.

In 2008, Bush warned the Democratic majority 17 times that there was a looming crisis and that mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac needed reform.

In 2003, former Treasury Secretary John Snow testified before the House Financial Services Committee and said this:

SNOW: We need a strong world-class regulatory agency to oversee the prudential operations of the GSEs and the safety and the soundness of their financial activities.

In 2005- Senator John McCain partnered with three other Senate Republicans to reform the government’s involvement in lending.

Sadly, in every instance since 2001, Democrats either ignored or blocked any attempts at reform.

Even Bill Clinton admits it.

As you can see in the video, Mudd talks about the problems of Fannie Mae yet that didn't keep Obama and other Democrats from taking large contributions from that organization or doing anything to try to fix it.

RUSH: Nancy Pelosi yesterday, Brokaw says, "I think most people understand that, but at the same time if we work our way off carbon based fuels in the meantime, this is not going to happen overnight.

Ok, for those of you playing the home game, let’s recap:
President Bush invaded Iraq and ended America’s 13 year war with Saddam with the authorization of Congress, and support of Democrats.

Even before the war started, Gov Howard Dean ran for President on an anti-war theme (in addition to governor of Vermont, doctor, maple syrup king, and Presidential Candidate, he’s secretly been a middle eastern intelligence operative and the only man in the world who could accurately assess the threat from Saddam…or…so people were led to believe).

As soon as Coalition forces crossed the border, Democrats en masse changed their tune, opposed the war like candidate Dean, and they themselves either tested the Presidential campaign waters, or just jumped right in.

“Dissent is patriotic” we were told-even if that dissent wasn’t really based on fact, but on political aspirations and/or frustrations. The debate was key to the 2002 elections, the 2004 elections, the 2006 elections,

Let's do a little homework on this, shall we?

Using an incredible new tool called an Internet Search Engine, we first find a list of campaign donations made by one Art Kennedy of Fort Lauderdale, FL.

Art Kennedy's occuption? Alcee Hastings' Congressional Staff Member. As was also the case in 2000. Interesting. In 2000, Kennedy donated only to Republicans including George W. Bush.

A Democrat named Ray Torres Sanchez is running for Congress in Florida's 23rd District. The incumbent, Alcee Hastings, is also a Democrat and was impeached in 1988 for bribery and perjury. He subsequently made his way back into power after his conviction was overturned on a technicality.

Sanchez has made some outlandish claims on his website. Among them, that incumbent Hastings is controlled by a political operative named Art Kennedy. During a debate, a GOP candidate for the office (Marion Thorpe) debated Kennedy rather than Hastings. Kennedy claimed he was serving as a "representative of Hastings".

When someone complained that beating a non-candidate (Kennedy) in the debate wasn't nearly as compelling as beating Hastings himself, the GOP candidate offered an extremely bizarre response.

Sanchez' view is obvious: Hastings can't speak for himself and, as an added bonus, is actually controlled by a puppet-master who happens to be Republican!

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) has agreed to the House target of adjourning Congress by Sept. 26, giving it only a few weeks to finish an agenda that, Democrats say, has been backed up because of Republican opposition.

Reid told House Democratic leaders during a meeting Tuesday that he shared their goal of adjourning after the fourth week of September, giving Congress only a little more than six weeks to finish its loaded schedule. The Senate leader confirmed to The Hill Wednesday that he shared the House’s target adjournment date.

Leaders have already acknowledged that many of the annual spending bills will not pass before the election.

For several decades, the Democratic Party has pursued policies designed to drive up the cost of petroleum, and therefore gas at the pump. Remarkably, the Democrats don't seem to have taken much of a political hit from the current spike in gas prices. Probably that's because most people don't realize how different the two parties' energy policies have been.

Democratic Party's Perverse Energy Policies And "Big Oil"

clipper's remarks: It would be possible for American oil companies to develop those reserves, play a far bigger role in international markets, and deliver gas at the pump to American consumers at a much lower price, while creating many thousands of jobs for Americans. This would be infinitely preferable to shipping endless billions of dollars to Saudi Arabia, Russia and Venezuela.

The largest American oil company, Exxon Mobil, is only the 14th largest in the world, and is dwarfed by the really big oil companies--all owned by foreign governments or government-sponsored monopolies--that dominate the world's oil supply.

Because the Democratic Party--aided, sadly, by a handful of Republicans--deliberately keeps gas prices high and our domestic oil companies small by putting most of our reserves off limits to development. China is now drilling in the Caribbean, but our own companies are barred by law from developing large oil fields off the coasts of Florida and California.

With 94% of the world's oil supply locked up by foreign governments, most of which are hostile to the United States, the relatively puny American oil companies do not have access to enough crude oil to significantly affect the market and help bring prices down. Thus, Exxon Mobil, a small oil company, buys 90% of the crude oil that it refines for the U.S. market from the big players, i.e, mostly-hostile foreign governments. The price at the U.S. pump is rising because the price the big oil companies charge Exxon Mobil and the other small American companies for crude oil is going up.

This is obviously a tough situation for the American consumer. The irony is that it doesn't have to be that way. The United States--unlike, say, France--actually has vast petroleum reserves.

Obama's Answers To Ties To Indicted Rezko Don't Pass The Smell Test

With Rezko's jury being selected, you might think Republicans would feel some excitement running down their legs, the way liberal pundits tingle with Obamamania, or the way teenage girls respond to photographs of Justin Timberlake. Instead the Republicans are subdued. As I've warned before, the Rezko trial isn't about Obama. It is about Rezko and some Democrats, like Gov. Rod "The Unreformer" Blagojevich. But it also involves Rezko and powerful Illinois Republicans with national reach.

The Republican Party should be eagerly lining up for this week's federal corruption trial in Chicago of Barack Obama's personal real estate fairy, Tony Rezko, the way a baseball team lines up to smack fat fastballs from a tired pitcher.

But the Republicans aren't swinging. They're keeping their bats on their shoulders. This should concern Sen. John McCain, the Arizona Republican who will likely face Sen. Obama (D-Rezko/Daley). As most Clinton operatives and Republicans know, Rezko is the indicted political fixer who helped Obama buy his dream house.

All this could have been Republican fodder, with Rezko facing unrelated extortion charges for playing politics the Chicago Way: using government muscle to force business owners into funding political campaigns, with extra cash to stuff a few pockets.

Combine Republicans and Democrats put their friends on those government boards, grease each other up with deals and kickbacks, and squeal with delight.

Congress Is Full Of Bold-Faced Liars

Or maybe Republicans on a spending spree when they know the Democrats are going to take the heat. Either way, your representatives in Washington D.C. are a bunch of dirty filthy liars.

Take the time today, right now, to write to your representatives and let them know how you feel about what they are doing. They still need our votes to get elected, so what you say really does matter to them.

How can the people who are supposed to be running the country on our behalf do such a crappy job and lie about it when the facts are so obvious. In 2004 the Democrats took control of congress promising to fix the earmark problem. Instead of fixing it, they are doing their best to outdo the spending of the Republican controlled congress before them. This isn’t a partisan problem, it’s a problem all Americans need to be aware of, and take action to fix.

The 2008 Pig Book is out, and even though Republicans and Democrats promised to cut back on the earmarks, they have done the exact opposite. The people we picked to handle our money wrote fat checks for 11,610 pork-barrel projects. The earmark reforms Congress passed last year didn’t count for much apparently. 17.2 billion dollars of your money went to pay for only God knows what.

John McCain didn’t play the earmark game, and I applaud him for being associated with zero earmarks. His home state of Arizona, which is where I live, received the lowest amount of earmarked money with about 90 Million. By comparison, Alaska received the most with a whopping 380 Million. Apparently they didn’t learn from the “bridge to nowhere” fiasco.

Senator Obama had 53 earmarks, to the tune of about 97 Million Dollars. Senator Hillary Clinton had 281 earmarks, for which you and I paid about 296 Million. The McCain campaign will get some good shots in with those numbers, and rightfully so.
