He says that the free-ride granted to most of the world proved the undoing of these “Protocols”. The fact that none of the parties which promised emission reductions have any clue how to actually reduce emissions, and therefore are not doing so, would seem to me to be a more central feature in Kyoto’s failure.

First, McCain’s conceit in this speech and in his global-warming views generally are impervious to changing evidence: the problem of man-made climate change is real, bad, and here now.

Second, McCain’s ultimate goal for “doing something” is, at best, unclear. He says “The goal in all of this is to assure an energy supply that is safe, secure, diverse, and domestic.”

It has failed in Europe. He tries to elide this fact, but fails.

John McCain’s delivered a major global-warming speech this afternoon at a windmill factory in Oregon.[Amazingly, he goes to a windmill factory to say that “When we debate energy bills in Washington, it should be more than a competition among industries for special favors, subsidies, and tax breaks.” Is this remarkable cognitive dissonance, or is he saying we don’t need to have these poor windmill folks competing for their pork anymore? Weird.] Being neither in Oregon nor near a TV, I offer the following observations based on the speech’s prepared text, which I had the painful opportunity to read.

The problem is that the premise of McCain’s entire speech is that the rise in earthly temperatures is accelerating, as Al Gore and IPCC head R. K. Pachauri have both recently, if outrageously, repeated — which flies smack in the face of recorded observations.

IPCC reviewer and climate researcher and scientist Dr. Vincent Gray, an expert reviewer on every single draft of the IPCC reports going back to 1990 and author of The Greenhouse Delusion: A Critique of "Climate Change 2001: "The [IPCC] ‘Summary for Policymakers' might get a few readers, but the main purpose of the report is to provide a spurious scientific backup for the absurd claims of the worldwide environmentalist lobby that it has been established scientifically that increases in carbon dioxide are harmful to the climate. It just does not matter that this ain't so."

Former Vice President Al Gore in an interview on NPR’s May 6 “Fresh Air” broadcast did just that. He was interviewed by “Fresh Air” host Terry Gross about the release of his book, “The Assault on Reason,” in paperback.

“And as we’re talking today, Terry, the death count in Myanmar from the cyclone that hit there yesterday has been rising from 15,000 to way on up there to much higher numbers now being speculated,” Gore said. “And last year a catastrophic storm from last fall hit Bangladesh. The year before, the strongest cyclone in more than 50 years hit China – and we’re seeing consequences that scientists have long predicted might be associated with continued global warming.”

PROBLEM #1: THE OCEANS ARE NOT GETTING WARMER; (NPR LINK!).

PROBLEM #2: THE EARTH HAS BEEN COOLING SINCE 2001, AND MAY BE ENTERING A DECADE OF CONTINUOUS COOLING.

PROBLEM #3: THERE IS NOT A CORRELATION BETWEEN GLOBAL WARMING AND STORMS.

BOTTOM-LINE: AGW IS BS AND AL GORE IS A SLIMY, GREEDY LYING SACK OF SH*T.

The SOS Al Gore sinks in Antarctica

Overdoing it with the eco-theology of global warming, 154 explorers set out for Antarctica to witness the phenomenon of melting ice caused by American SUVs. Instead, they witnessed the fact that ice is increasing in Antarctica, namely by running into some with their boat, which then sank. It gets better. The polar express, a 38-year-old ship named the MV Explorer, had a history of inspection problems and was owned by Bruce Poon Tip, a follower, friend and supporter of Al Gore's religion. The New York Times is worried: "While the rescue may have been a success, the consequences for the Antarctic's fragile environment of having a submerged ship estimated to be holding 48,000 gallons of marine diesel fuel sitting off its coast are unclear." Indeed, thanks to Al's buddy, there is a carbon footprint at the bottom of the ocean nearly as big as Gore's.
