“I consider myself a defender of corporate America.” Limbaugh’s claim is supported by the aggressive manner in which he acts as a “pitchman” for products on his show:

Some simply run their usual ads. Others use Limbaugh as their pitchman, which costs them a premium and a long-term commitment. And lately he has created a new option. At a much higher rate he will weave a product into his monologue (To a caller who said he took two showers after voting for Clinton in Operation Chaos, Limbaugh responded: “If you had followed my advice and gotten a Rinnai tankless water heater, you wouldn’t have needed to take two showers. And I’ll tell you why. . . .”)

US withdraws nuclear bombs from Britain: report

The United States has removed its nuclear arsenal in Britain, ending its half-century deployment there and reducing its European nuclear deployment to six locations in five countries, a report said.

The withdrawal follows the removal of nuclear weapons from the Ramstein Air Base in Germany in 2005 and Greece in 2001, according to the The Federation of American Scientists (FAS) Strategic Security Blog, citing unidentified sources.

The United States now has an estimated 150 to 240 B61 nuclear bombs scattered in Europe -- at the US Air Force bases at Aviano AB in Italy and Incirlik in Turkey, and at four European bases, in Belgium, Germany, Holland and Italy, the blog said.

In November 2000, then president Bill Clinton authorized the Pentagon to deploy 110 nuclear bombs at the Royal Air Force Lakenheath air base, 113 miles (70 miles) northeast of London, the report said.

There were 480 atomic bombs in Europe at the time, it said.

A new NEWSWEEK Poll shows that he has a substantial double-digit lead, 51 percent to 36 percent, over McCain among registered voters nationwide.

Obama managed no better than a 46 percent tie with McCain

55 percent of all voters call themselves Democrats or say they lean toward the party while just 36 percent call themselves Republicans or lean that way

A CQ analysis shows that only about 8 percent of the 62,800 donors who gave the maximum contribution of $2,000 to Bush in 2004 had given to McCain as of April 30. Moreover, at least 46 of Bush’s 2004 donors have contributed significantly to both Obama and Clinton but are not listed as McCain donors. One, a lifelong Republican who donated $2,000 to Bush in 2004, said that he will not donate to McCain because of the senator’s fervent support of the Iraq war:

For her last hurrah as a presidential contender yesterday, Hillary Clinton repackaged herself yet again, this time as a vocal and thoughtful feminist. I like this Hillary. Where has she been the last six months?

Finally, with the race over, yesterday we were presented with the kinder, gentler Hillary. And you know what? I liked her. She spoke passionately .- about things she had not mentioned during all those previous incarnations! She spoke as the worthy spokeswoman for gender equality. She radiated confidence and appeal. She called us to our better selves. She made us believe that we could move past the divisions that have hobbled us. . (Is this starting to sound familiar?) "Yes, we can!" she proclaimed.

"Hillary," I shouted back, "where have you been? This country is in dire shape! The planet is in dire need! The moment is critical! We need a woman like you! Have you ever considered running for president?"

What I do know is that I hope this Hillary stays with us.

If one third of white evangelicals voted for Bill Clinton the second time, at the height of Monica Lewinsky mess--that's a statistic I didn't believe at first but I double and triple checked it--I would not be surprised if that many or more voted for Barack Obama in this election.

There's some concern that maybe Republicans haven't done that well. And there's this fascination with Barack Obama. So I will not be surprised if he gets one third of the evangelical vote. I wouldn't be surprised if it was 40-percent.

He is quoted in an interview to be published Saturday saying that an Obama-Clinton ticket would be “the worst mistake that could be made.” Citing opinion polls that show 50% of U.S. voters with a negative opinion of Clinton, Carter spoke to The Guardian about the barriers Obama already faces in his bid for the presidency, and the additional problems that Clinton as his running mate would bring.

Exactly 200 years after the United States Congress banned traffic in chattel slaves from Africa, Barack Obama became the country’s first African American chosen as Presidential candidate by electors of any of the major parties.

“Stunning”, “tear-inspiring” and “about time” are but a few of the words that come to mind.

Though I do not support any candidate and though I am most critical of Mr. Obama on a host of issues, I cannot but take a moment to join the country, nay the entire planet, in its collective sigh of history……….

In honor of this truly breathtaking development, I will, for the moment, refrain from attacking, criticizing or otherwise politicking so that you may meditate on your own part of this sigh.

Bill Clinton is heading back to his Harlem office while Clinton makes the VP pitch. As Tom Brokaw said, "the former president really has become radioactive in a lot of ways." There is his finances — his consulting fees, his speech fees, his donation fundraising, his businessmen pals. There is his philandering — a distraction again these last few days because of a gossipy Vanity Fair article. And there is his mouth — which is connected to a brain that seems to think it holds the answer to every question, and is allowed to expressed that answer at all times.

I honestly think the prospect of having Bill on the campaign trail and in the White House is the most problematic thing about bringing Hillary onto the ticket

Hillary Clinton has summoned top donors and backers to attend her New York speech tomorrow night in an unusual move that is being widely interpreted to mean she plans to suspend her campaign

Obama and Clinton spoke Sunday night and agreed that their staffs should begin negotiations over post-primary activities

Clinton is known to want Obama to assist black officials who endorsed her and who are now taking constituent heat

Earlier in the day it was reported that Clinton staffers were being urged by the campaign's finance department "to turn in their outstanding expense receipts by the end of the week,"

Politico wrote that members of Clinton's advance staff had received calls and emails Sunday night, summoning them to New York City and telling them their roles on the campaign are ending.

Just before the New Jersey primary, I left Hillary for Barack. At first, I felt like I was cheating on her. I was emotionally connected to her candidacy, her intelligence, her perseverance. As time went on, I began to listen more closely to Obama and became increasingly convinced that he might just be the real deal. He might just be able to restore optimism and hope and good will about America around the world. He might just have a better shot at beating McCain.

And so I cast my vote for Obama and in so doing, I left Hillary.

And while I am beyond ecstatic about having Senator Obama as our nominee, I find myself feeling really terrible about Hillary.

I have no doubt that Obama will give the speech of his life tomorrow night. I bet I will cry thinking about the magnitude of the moment and the promise it represents.

I will cry during her speech too. I'm actually dreading it. I think it will be heartbreaking. It will remind me that I left her.

When you use Clinton's own criteria and apply that criteria fairly, Obama clearly wins the so-called "popular vote".

Of course, there's only ONE math that matters:

But as long as her campaign wants to distribute misleading (and frankly dishonest), cherry-picked "popular vote" figures, I wanted to set the record straight.
