Right now, the credit markets are frozen up and what that means, as a practical matter, is that small businesses and some large businesses just can’t get loans. If they can’t get a loan, that means that they can’t make payroll. If they can’t make payroll, then they may end up having to shut their doors and lay people off. And if you imagine just one company trying to deal with that, now imagine a million companies all across the country. So it could end up having an adverse effect on everybody, and that’s why we had to take action.

Nailed it

Tags: obama, bailout, economy

<clipSource>http://gowest.blogs.fortune.cnn.com/2008/10/08/why-obama-won-debate-no-2/</clipSource>

Of Course The Obama-Ayers Connection Is Important

clipped by: merrie
clipper's remarks: Ed goes on to summarize Barone's three major points:

* Obama stresses his commonality with the American people. Do most people feel comfortable working closely with unrepentant domestic terrorists who still want to overthrow the capitalist system in America?
* Obama presses educational issues as part of his campaign. He spent years working with Ayers on the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, which pushed efforts to create primary educational organizations that would create political activists for the Left - and which largely failed in any of its intended purposes.
* Obama has lied and obfuscated about his relationship with Ayers. Clearly, Ayers was not just “some guy in the neighborhood”, but a political adviser at least on educational issues who provided a key launch for Obama’s political career.

Clip Source: irishspy.typepad.com

Michael Barone explains why voters and the media should be interested in the Prophet Barack's relationship with a former, yet unrepentant terrorist and radical left-wing "educator:"

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Elections are about policies and character, and whom you choose to associate with says volumes about both.
I personally found this number to be appalling, especially considering that three-quarters of women who had aborted a fetus stated that the reason they were getting an abortion was because they could not afford a child. This means that money, the lack of financial security, is the reason for 75% of all abortions performed in the United States. For 2004, that’s equivalent to 965,250 lives being extinguished for fear of poverty.

The solution is simple, instead of giving $700 billion to rich bankers for their crimes, we could provide financial assistance to all expecting mothers.

Fiscal Disaster in California
</NYT_HEADLINE>

The mandatory sentencing craze that has swept the country over the last 30 years did little to cut back the drug trade, but it drove up the prison population and pushed corrections costs to ruinous levels. The process was especially destructive in California, where a federal court has placed the prison system’s dangerously decrepit medical services under a receiver who wants the state to cough up $8 billion to bring that system up to constitutional standards.

The last thing California residents need at this point are new policies that land even more people behind bars and drive up prison spending further. But November’s ballot in California, the birthplace of irresponsible government by referendum, includes two costly initiatives that would do just that.

California voters need to reject Propositions 6 and 9.

<clipSource>http://www.nytimes.com/2008/10/10/opinion/10fri2.html?th&emc=th</clipSource>

Rednecks for Obama

clipped by: wiccantexan

Clip Source: rednecks4obama.com

We now have online ordering of Rednecks for Obama shirts and bumper stickers - check out the merchandise page.

Are you a redneck who supports Barack Obama? TELL US YOUR STORY on our Guestbook!

Tags: obama, election, rednecks

<clipSource>http://rednecks4obama.com/HomePage.php</clipSource>

Canada rated world's soundest bank system: survey

clipped by: rmowery
clipper's remarks: Anyone know if US citizens can open bank accounts in Canada? According to Vogler AIP's central purpose was to drive Alaska's secession from the United States.
