jihad does not mean war in the Koran as there are other words for it like qital
and harb. Jihad has been used in the Koran in its root meaning: to
strive for betterment of society, to spread goodness

and contain

isn't central to Koranic teachings. The word "jihad" occurs in the Koran 41
times though not a single verse uses it in

the sense of war.

The four most fundamental values in the Koran are justice

 benevolence

compassion

and wisdom

One who fails to practice these values can hardly claim to be a true Muslim

It can be said
that compassion is most central to Koranic teachings. The words "compassion"
and "mercy" in their various forms occur in the Koran 335 times

To seek revenge is human

Talk about THE LIE.

CNN investigative reporter: “But the relationship between Obama and Ayers went much deeper, ran much longer, and was much more political than Obama said.”

On Anderson’s Cooper 360 they did a major investigative look at the Ayers/Obama connection. They even interviewed Stanley Kurtz.

Bottom line: Just a guy in my neighborhood? Served on one board together?

CNN Says bulls**t!

http://dirtyharrysplace.com/?p=4873

CNN: Obama’s lying about William Ayers

Obama’s admission in a debate that he briefly served on “a board” with Ayers with little contact gets shot down. CNN followed up on Kurtz’ work with the Chicago Annenberg Challenge and debunks that notion. Obama has said that Alice Palmer arranged the fundraiser and the venue, but Griffin spoke to two people who attended the event, who claim Obama lied. Palmer had nothing to do with that event outside of being invited to it. Obama and Ayers planned the event themselves.

Obama has lied repeatedly about his relationship with the unrepentant domestic terrorist. Right now, the credit markets are frozen up and what that means, as a practical matter, is that small businesses and some large businesses just can’t get loans. If they can’t get a loan, that means that they can’t make payroll. If they can’t make payroll, then they may end up having to shut their doors and lay people off. And if you imagine just one company trying to deal with that, now imagine a million companies all across the country. So it could end up having an adverse effect on everybody, and that’s why we had to take action.

Nailed it

Tags: obama, bailout, economy

<clipSource>http://gowest.blogs.fortune.cnn.com/2008/10/08/why-obama-won-debate-no-2/</clipSource>

Biden: Look him in the eye and say it, John

clipped by: masbury
clipper's remarks: Or does he want Palin to carry all the water so he stays dry?

Clip Source: sage

"All of the things they said about Barack Obama in the TV, on the TV, at their rallies, and now on Youtube and everything else," Biden said — referring to McCain and Palin tying Obama to Weatherman bomber Bill Ayers and accusing him of "palling around with terrorists."

"John McCain could not bring himself to look Barack Obama in the eye and say the same things to him," he said to cheers. Here's a pic of the "overhead projector." Planetariums in NY and LA have already rec'd federal funding to replace Zeiss systems. They don't sell them at OfficeMax.

Clip Source: www.chicagotribune.com

<img src="http://clipmarks.com/image_cache/masbury/512/2BF8B443-AEF5-410C-BDB1-615A0FDC00D2.jpg" alt="Explaining Adler's "projector"" />

In McCain's view, the "overhead projector" was an example of Obama's approach to pork-barrel spending.

Adler President Paul Knappenberger defended the request. The museum wants to spend $10 million to update its original, 78-year-old domed Sky Theater auditorium, including replacement of the huge, 40-year-old Zeiss planetarium projection system, which is falling into disrepair with no replacement parts available

More than 30 million people have seen the Zeiss sky shows at the Adler, at least a third of them schoolchildren, Knappenberger said. He noted that planetariums in New York and Los Angeles received federal funding in recent years to replace aging Zeiss systems.

Astronomers have called McCain "anti-science" because of his position

Tags: mccain, overhead projector, obama

<clipSource>http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/chi-adler-projectoroct09,0,1534078.story</clipSource>

Of Course The Obama-Ayers Connection Is Important

clipped by: merrie
clipper's remarks: Ed goes on to summarize Barone's three major points:

* Obama stresses his commonality with the American people. Do most people feel comfortable working closely with unrepentant domestic terrorists who still want to overthrow the capitalist system in America?
* Obama presses educational issues as part of his campaign. He spent years working with Ayers on the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, which pushed efforts to create primary educational organizations that would create political activists for the Left - and which largely failed in any of its intended purposes.
* Obama has lied and obfuscated about his relationship with Ayers. Clearly, Ayers was not just “some guy in the neighborhood”, but a political adviser at least on educational issues who provided a key launch for Obama’s political career.

Clip Source: irishspy.typepad.com

Michael Barone explains why voters and the media should be interested in the Prophet Barack's relationship with a former, yet unrepentant terrorist and radical left-wing "educator:"

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Elections are about policies and character, and whom you choose to associate with says volumes about both. Today, with Fox News, talk radio and a right-wing blogsphere, there is an atmosphere and core of support for this type of thing. Sarah Palin seems like the missing link. A high level political figure that has been elevated to a Vice-Presidential nomination by one of the two main parties -- McCarthy's old party.
Given that the DOJ normally doesn't care much about cyber-crime, one has to wonder how the decision to allocate those resources was made.

Clip Source: harpers.org

Cyber crimes are rampant in America today. Frequently they involve theft of identity metrics used to tap the victim’s credit. As I reviewed in a recent piece for the BBC, however, the Department of Justice has allocated few resources to investigate these crimes except in very large scale and systematic cases—that is crimes in which there is a clear criminal purpose and a clear victim, and tens of millions at stake. Generally the Department has not acted in cases in which the result of the intrusion is merely to embarrass the target, for a fairly obvious reason. At best we’re only talking about a misdemeanor. The Palin email hacking case quite plainly falls into this category. So what is going on?

Tags: politics, presidential_campaign_2008, palin, internet, crime, law, news, opinion

<clipSource>http://harpers.org/archive/2008/10/hbc-90003672</clipSource>

The Sum Of Your Facial Parts

clipped by: debbyski

Clip Source: www.nytimes.com

IS the woman pictured on the right more attractive than the woman on the left? Did they risk other peoples' money? Did they know we were in a housing bubble? Was it explained that the ARM would default if their home value declined? Why do we let professional sales-people make money leading people into the largest purchase in their lives without issuing precautions that first-time homebuyers often do not understand? And why is the homebuyer the loser, rather than the shyster that sold them a loan they could not possibly have understood? Why do we let them take our homes away?

Clip Source: ehrenreich.blogs.com

A few days before Congress passed its Housing Bill, Carlene
Balderrama of Taunton MA found her own solution to the housing crisis. Just a
little over two hours in advance of the time her mortgage company, PHH Mortgage
Corporation – may its name live in infamy – was to auction off her home,
Balderrama killed herself with her husband’s rifle.

This is not
the kind of response to hard times that James Grant had in mind when he wrote
his July 19 Wall Street Journal essay entitled “Why No Outrage?” “One might
infer from the lack of popular anger,” the famed Wall Street contrarian wrote,
“that the credit crisis was God's fault rather than the doing of the bankers
and the rating agencies and the government's snoozing watchdogs.” For contrast,
he cites the spirited response to the depression of the 1890s, when
lawyer/agitator Mary Lease stirred crowds with the message that “We want the
accursed foreclosure system wiped out

We will stand by our homes and stay

Citing his Iraq experience, Petraeus said, “You have to talk to enemies.” He added that it was necessary to have a particular goal for discussion and to perform advance work to understand the motivations of his interlocutors.

Yet Petraeus emphasized throughout his lecture that reaching out to insurgent groups — some “with our blood on their hands,” he said — was necessary to the ultimate goal of turning them against irreconcilable enemies like Al Qaeda in Iraq.

Clip Source: washingtonindependent.com

<img src="http://clipmarks.com/image_cache/ratilfar/512/1FF77E5B-753A-4E5B-9698-08F55D79D2DE.jpg" alt="Gen. John McCain’s presidential campaign, the Republican nominee has wrapped himself in the mantle of U.S. Army Gen. David H. Petraeus, proclaiming himself the leading advocate of the former commanding general in Iraq who devised last year’s controversial troop surge. Yet during a talk Wednesday about Iraq at the Heritage Foundation, a conservative Washington policy organization, Petraeus repeatedly made statements that bolstered the foreign-policy proposals of Sen. Barack Obama, McCain’s Democratic rival, or cut against McCain’s own lines.

Petraeus relinquished command in Iraq last month.
