If You do that to girlfriend – this is when fun part starts.

9. You have to upgrade computer from time to time and pay money for that. Girls You change for free.
10. Computer can`t call other computers to come around and have fun in bed.
11. Computer can memorize too much stuff that You rather want to be forgotten.

Clip Source: glowicki.pl

This is not Dating Agencys or Dating Match advertisment. I just lately read a funny post about why it is better to have computer than girlfriend. Well, so the blog is not fully nerd-geek type let`s hit the other side! I choosen number 11 because theres always 10 reasons. Let`s be original!

1.	You can`t make computer naked. And even if You can, it surely won`t turn You on sexually.
2.	Computer won`t make You dinner and won`t bring You beer.
3.	You don`t need to wear glasses to look at the girlfriend and have any use of her.
4.	If there is no electricity - girlfriend still works.
5.	You can pure Whiskey on her and then lick it. With computer it might be problematic.

6.	If You go with girlfriend to cinema and pay more attention to her than the movie nobodys gonna be saying that something is wrong with You.
7.	If You speak about girl all the time – You are lame. Still less lame than the ones speaking 24/7 about computers.

8.	If You cheat on Your computer with another one – there is no

<clipSource>http://glowicki.pl/01/22/11-reasons-why-girlfriend-is-better-than-computer/</clipSource>

Stop Junk Mail, Save a Tree

clipped by: linden_marie
clipper's remarks: It is an industry of product manufacturers, advertisers, paper companies, ink companies, printing presses, couriers.... what else have I missed?

Clip Source: www.care2.com

By Melissa Breyer, Senior Producer, Care2 Green Living

In a single year Americans receive 19 billion catalogs in the mail. That boils down to 3.6 million tons of paper at the cost of 53 million trees. Ouch.

Production of the paper used for American catalogs uses the same amount of energy required to power 1.2 million homes in a year, and contributes annual emissions equal to that created by 2 million cars. That's incredibly significant! All to get us to buy buy buy more junk. It's just madness.

We've collected the information here that you need to tame the catalog beast and stop junk mail in its tracks.

Start with the category from which you receive the most unwanted advertising—catalogs are a great place to start since they use so much paper.

Direct Marketing Campaigns

National Mailing Lists

Catalogs

Pre-Approved Offers of Credit

Sweepstakes and Prizes

Product Registration Cards

<clipSource>http://www.care2.com/greenliving/stop-junk-mail-save-a-tree.html</clipSource>

Big banks ranking on climate change practices - bogus?

clipped by: linden_marie

Clip Source: www.financialpost.com

CERES is a busybody environmental group that has done a remarkable job in co-opting corporations.

However, the report's suggestion that banks have "a vital role in finding timely, practical and cost-effective solutions to mitigate climate change" is bogus. It seeks to shove banks into a public-policy role, or into bending their lending to suit political objectives. It is certainly not their business to lead the "decarbonization" of the global economy, although the Bank of America received a pat on the head for announcing that it would direct its utility lending toward those projects that reduced carbon intensity. Of course, the whole trend of technology is toward reducing carbon intensity, so BOA isn't exactly going out on a limb.

Clip Source: www.financialpost.com

But whatever occurs on the climate front, and whatever the cause, the only way it will be addressed effectively is by adaptation and by prudent individual profit-seeking and risk-avoidance,

<clipSource>http://www.financialpost.com/analysis/story.html?id=8f03d462-f966-49e5-acd6-0882a3d3de51&k=25295</clipSource>

Big banks ranked on climate change practices

clipped by: linden_marie
clipper's remarks: The report employs a 14 point "Climate Change Governance Checklist" to evaluate how the 40 banks are addressing climate change through board of director oversight, management performance, public disclosure, greenhouse emissions accounting and strategic planning.

Clip Source: www.ens-newswire.com

Goldman Sachs ranks highest and Bear Stearns ranks lowest of the investment banks rated in a first-ever analysis of the climate change governance practices of 40 of the worlds largest banks.

Of the diversified banks, the report issued Thursday by the Ceres investor coalition based in Boston ranks HSBC Holdings at the top and the Bank of China at the foot of the list.

"Banks are about managing risks and financing opportunities. It's very good to see that this crucial response from the banks is beginning. A magnolia bark extract could be a boon for oral health when added to chewing gum and mints according to a study reported in the ACS' Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, a bi-weekly publication.

In this new study, Mints containing the extract killed more than 61 percent of the germs that cause bad breath within 30 minutes, compared with only a 3.6 percent germ-kill for the same flavorless mints without the extract, the researchers say. Magnolia bark is much more effective than existing anti-bacterial products for bad breath, which are far from ideal, with some having side effects like tooth staining.

<clipSource>http://www.newstarget.com/022466.html</clipSource>

Water can also make you sick!

clipped by: linden_marie

Clip Source: www.newstarget.com

how much water is enough; and how much is too much.

Experts agree that 64 oz. a day is the minimum intake to meet our most basic requirements, such as skin hydration, temperature control, digestion and waste disposal. That's eight 8-oz glasses.

hyponatremia

is sometimes referred to as water intoxication. Drinking too much water in too short a time overwhelms the kidneys and can cause a sudden drop in blood sodium levels. Sodium is one of the body's electrolytes (the others are potassium, chloride and bicarbonate). A drop in sodium leads to water entering the brain, causing it to swell. Results include lethargy, disorientation, confusion, seizures, coma and death.

An alternative is a quart of water to which you add a half teaspoon each of salt and baking soda. Hyponatremia will not happen to people who spread their normal intake of water over the course of a day.

Does personal hydration have to be water? But the new study suggests that ozone may have a much more significant climate impact by adversely affecting plants' ability to remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.

According to the researchers, high concentrations of ozone and carbon dioxide damage plants' ability to engage in photosynthesis. This weakens the plants, causing their stomata (pores in the leaves) to close. In turn, this reduces that amount of carbon dioxide or ozone that the plants are able to absorb.

Under the high-sensitivity model, plants' ability to remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere was reduced by 23 percent. This incident, improperly labeled as such, sensitizes us to real hate crimes: (Emmit Louis Till, James Byrd, Jr., Matthew Shephard, et al). Yet, every black person over 40 who has lived in the South understands the following as part of our collective memory: The first step is a warning; the second step is burning and the third step normally involves a rope. This trifecta was an oft-repeated series of racial terrorism against persons of color in Texas and throughout the South.

Clip Source: higherrock.blogs.com

I like Arlington, Texas. Danish researcher Dr. Peter Gotzsche first made this claim in a study published in "The Lancet" in October 2006.

Since then, other doctors have begun to assert that in addition to failing to offer protection, mammograms — which involve exposing patients to radiation —may actually increase women's risk of cancer.

"The latest evidence shifts the balance towards harm and away from benefits," said Dr. Michael Baum of University College in London.

Gifford-Jones also points to other risks, from the physical to the psychological. According to some authorities, the squeezing of women's breasts during mammograms may rupture blood vessels, causing cancer to spread to other parts of the body and actually increasing a patient's risk of death.

"Mammograms actually harm far more women than they help," said Mike Adams

<clipSource>http://www.newstarget.com/021608.html</clipSource>

Staying fit in 2008

clipped by: linden_marie

Clip Source: news.independent.co.uk
