Troubles in Diggville

clipper's remarks: Any comments from Clipmarks community? I wonder if the same could be said here by some (conservative types) who may think most Clipmarkers are more liberal minded, taking over the clips with most pops?
I don't really know what they're talking about above with alogrithm, but something tells me that digg is being drowned by its own popularity and no one is gaming the system. But this issue is complicated to be summarized so quickly.

Troubles in Diggville

Today Digg co-founder Kevin Rose responded to these complaints. He takes both sides of the argument. Kevin says that groups of people recommending stories to each other is actually a good thing. But he also says that Digg will soon be implementing a new algorithm that weighs a diversified group of Diggers more heavily than groups acting together:

This algorithm update will look at the unique digging diversity of the individuals digging the story. Users that follow a gaming pattern will have less promotion weight. This doesn’t mean that the story won’t be promoted, it just means that a more diverse pool of individuals will be need to deem the story homepage-worthy.

Real-life photo and story...nothing big...

clipper's remarks: A while ago, I had to move to a new apartment, which is never fun. On this day, I was taking a final carload of stuff to a storage unit in a nearby city. I was grateful that this was the end of it, but I was dirty, sweaty, tired, hungry and cranky. And to add insult to injury, I had to suffer the frustration of bumper-to-bumper traffic on the way back. Grrrr....

Inching around a bend in the freeway, I'm surprised to see this gigantic arc of a rainbow gradually come into view...a vibrant ribbon carving the sky up into darkness above and lightness below. It was very pretty and, as I rounded the corner and drove underneath the bow, strangely soothing. I allowed myself to relax and feel a bit better.

Before long, the traffic was un-bunching ahead of me and cool air started streaming in the car windows again as I picked up speed. I forgot about feeling sour and barely had time to snap this impromptu phone pic before heading home to spend the first night in my clean new place!

"A couple from the street entered the courtyard of an old house under renovation, and the woman fell through the floor while apparently having sex," rescue department spokesperson Marek Simulson said.

"Rescuers had to use a fire fighting ladder to rescue the 22-year-old woman from the basement, which was 2,5m deep," he said.

NEW YORK - Diamonds are no longer a girl's best friend, according to a new U.S. study that found three of four women would prefer a new plasma TV to a diamond necklace.

Women were found on average to own 6.6 technology devices while men own 6.9, and four out of every five women felt comfortable using technology with 46 percent doing their own computer trouble-shooting.

The study found 77 percent of women surveyed would prefer a new plasma television to a diamond solitaire necklace and 56 percent would opt for a new plasma TV over a weekend vacation in Florida.

Even shoes lost out. The study found 86 percent would prefer a new digital video camera to a pair of designer shoes.

clipper's remarks: So um, I just upgraded the hardware on this computer, which is a Compaq, and I'm not having any major problems, but It decided when I installed the new hard drive (old hard drive not plugged in) that it would name it I instead of C. No apparent reason. It had a bunch of crazy letters assigned to the removeable media drives and I changed them, but you can't change a boot drive. More than anything I'm curious why it's being stupid.
