Aborted Fetal Material Used in Anti-Wrinkle Creams

TENNESSEE, Oct. 27 /Christian Newswire/ -- Children of God for Life announced today that Neocutis, a bio-pharmaceutical company focused on dermatology and skin care is using aborted fetal cell lines to produce several of their anti-aging skin creams.

Neocutis' key ingredient known as "Processed Skin Proteins" was developed at the University of Luasanne from the skin tissue of a 14-week gestation electively-aborted male baby donated by the University Hospital in Switzerland. By 68 yeas to 29 nays (Vote No. 327), Senate agreed to the conference report to accompany H.R. 2647, to authorize appropriations for fiscal year 2010 for military activities of the Department of Defense. In a devious maneuver by Democrats, a "Hate Crimes" amendment was attached to this bill. Though AFA supports adequate funding for the military, this attachment is a poison pill that makes the bill unacceptable. Our military deserved a stand-alone vote on funding.

A vote in favor of this bill criminalizes thought, endangers freedom of religion and speech, and destroys the American principle of equality under the law.

Chill settles over 'global warming'

According to the latest Pew Research Poll, only 35 percent see global warming as a very serious problem, down from 44 percent last year. Fifty-seven percent believe there is solid evidence that man is driving climate change, down from 71 percent in 2008.

As the public concern over climate change continues to erode, Lord Christopher Monckton -- the former advisor for science policy to Lady Margaret Thatcher -- says the alleged science behind manmade climate change is eroding as well.

"First of all, it's now been demonstrated by measurement that CO2 has only one-sixth of the warming effect on the planet than the U.N. had previously thought," he states. "It's therefore harmless and generally beneficial."

He adds that even if the U.N. were right, nothing economically could be done to fix the problem.

A conservative media watchdog says it has become increasingly apparent that the only legitimate media coverage -- according to the Obama administration -- is news that praises the president.

Last week the Obama administration attempted to isolate and exclude the Fox News Channel by telling the White House media pool that it would make "pay czar" Kenneth Feinberg available for interviews to every member except Fox News. But according to Fox News, the Washington bureau chiefs of the five TV networks consulted and decided that none of their reporters would interview Feinberg unless Fox was included.

The administration eventually relented, making Feinberg available for all five pool members and Bloomberg TV. Tim Graham, director of media analysis at the Media Research Center, is pleased to see some backbone in the media.

Forty years ago, on July 20, astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin climbed out of the lunar module Eagle and took their historic first steps on the moon.

Before the lift-off, Aldrin was looking for a way to honor God's presence in the Apollo 11 space mission. He talked about this with his minister, Dean Woodruff of Webster Presbyterian Church in Houston.

Aldrin took out the communion elements from their flight packets and put them on a small table in front of the abort guidance-system computer. Then he called Houston, and asked for a few moments of silence.

Inaugural prayers under attack in DC

Atheist Michael Newdow -- along with numerous other individuals and atheist groups -- filed the lawsuit which was lost in federal district court. They have now appealed to the federal DC Circuit Court of Appeals, continuing their efforts to ban prayers they say make them "sick to their stomach."

"The claim by the plaintiffs that they got sick and were just ill because of the exposure to hearing a prayer at the Inauguration -- this claim is outrageous," says Dacus. "It is ridiculous, and we at the Pacific Justice Institute intend to make sure that these kinds of outrageous challenges to religious freedom do not go unchallenged."

The atheists are telling the court their views ought to be protected. But the PJI attorney sees hypocrisy in their demands.

"In their zeal to argue for tolerance for their views, they are engaging in outrageous intolerance for people of faith," he points out. "This double-standard will not hold."

President taps lesbian activist to EEOC

The president has nominated Chai Feldblum, a lesbian activist, to be commissioner for the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Her appointment is awaiting Senate confirmation.

Feldblum, a law professor at Georgetown University, has signed an online petition titled, "Beyond Same-Sex Marriage: A New Strategic Vision for All Our Families and Relationships." That petition chides conservatives for opposing same-sex "marriage" and also calls for a "new vision" for achieving recognition from the government and private sector for diverse kinds of partnerships.

"She says she can't think of a case where the religious rights -- in other words, our moral right to oppose homosexuality, our First Amendment freedom -- trump their gay rights. So, effectively, Chai Feldblum is for superior rights for homosexuals, and I think that's very dangerous for our country."

The Texas Department of Transportation is once and for all pulling the plug on the Trans Texas Corridor, the controversial plan to build toll roads and utility lines across the state, an official said.

"The reason that's being given for the no-build option is that people don't want it," Texas Transportation Commission member Bill Meadows of Fort Worth said Tuesday in a phone interview. "They said 'Hell no.' "

The Trans Texas Corridor was originally pitched as an innovative way to pay for congestion improvements, and reduce truck and train gridlock in metro areas. But opponents seized upon several hotly contested components of the plan, including the impact of tolls on Texans' pocketbooks, the infusion of foreign influence in toll investment and the taking of such a massive amount of private property necessary to build the roads.

William Ayers took note of the throngs of protesters who greeted him at Purdue University last night, saying in essence that the protestors know not what they do and that they protest "a cartoon character, not me," according

to the Lafayette Journal and Courier.

Apparently extra security measures took place, which included clearing out the building in which Ayers was to speak two hours before the event. A police dog went through the building checking for explosives. No word on whether the dog was sniffing for explosives planted by the protestors or Ayers himself.

Dems rejects GOP attempt at greater transparency

WASHINGTON – Senate Finance Committee Democrats have rejected a GOP amendment that would have required a health overhaul bill to be available online for 72 hours before the committee votes.

Republicans argued that transparency is an Obama administration goal. They also noted that their constituents are demanding that they read bills before voting.

Democrats said it was a delay tactic that could have postponed a vote for weeks.

"We've got to understand what's in this doggone bill," Hatch complained. "This is not some itty-bitty bill. This could wreck the country."

Despite Obama's repeated claims that Medicare benefits will not be cut, Congressional Budget Office Director Douglas Elmendorf told senators Tuesday that the elderly in the private Medicare Advantage plans could see reduced benefits under Baucus' bill.

Hospital chaplain's free-speech rights restored

A chaplain at a Michigan veterans' hospital has been invited to return and minister to patients.

Martin Colburn, a Christian chaplain of two veterans' organizations, had been meeting patients who gave him permission to do so, counseling them and praying with them. Daniel Blomberg is an attorney with the Alliance Defense Fund (ADF).

"One day back in February he was just summarily thrown out of the hospital because he had a Bible in his hand and he had been meeting with a patient," Blomberg explains. "And on February 13, he received a letter saying he wasn't welcome to come back except to receive his own veteran's benefits because he was a wounded warrior himself."

Census Bureau severs ties with ACORN

In the wake of a second videotape surfacing of ACORN employees counseling a pimp and prostitute on establishing their business and evading taxes, the Census Bureau has severed ties with ACORN.

We must still be vigilant about the plans for the census, but this action gives hope that we may have a legitimate count.
