The House on Tuesday voted 238-180 to send his article of impeachment — for Bush's reasoning for taking the country to war in Iraq — to the Judiciary Committee, which buried Kucinich's previous effort.

Pelosi has said previously that impeachment "was off the table," so her comments this morning were surprising, and clearly signaled a new willingness to entertain the idea of ousting Bush, although no one in the Democratic leadership believes that is likely since the president has only six months left in this term.

At President Bush’s request, Congress passed an authorization for the use of military force against Iraq on October 16, 2002. At least a dozen key material representations made to Congress by the President in that authorization, in furtherance of Congressional action, were false at the time they were made. The breadth and depth of the President’s misrepresentations do not argue for incompetency as a defense, but for deceit as an impeachable

We have arrived at a teachable moment in our Constitutional history. Congress must insist on accountability. We must regain our rightful role as a co-equal branch of government charged with providing a check and balance to Executive abuse of power. In Article I, Section 8 of the Constitution, our Founders placed the war power in the hands of the House of Rep

Tags: kucinich, impeach

<clipSource>http://www.michaelmoore.com/words/latestnews/index.php?id=11847</clipSource>

Sign the Petition

clipped by: kkcapricorn
clipper's remarks: Way to go Dennis

Clip Source: au.youtube.com

go to: http://kucinich.us to sign the petition!

Tags: impeach, kucinich, petition

<clipSource>http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=olcHZ_lUG6Q</clipSource>

Someone is listening - Impeach

clipped by: kkcapricorn
clipper's remarks:
We've waited seven years to find one Member of Congress brave enough to stand up for our Constitution, for which generations of Americans have fought and died," Fertik said. Rep. Dennis Kucinich, who introduced legislation last year to impeach Vice President Dick Cheney, is now aiming higher.

On the House floor this evening, the Ohio Democrat proposed impeaching President Bush. In language similar to that in the articles of impeachment he raised against Cheney, Kucinich sought support for a 35-count indictment charging Bush with misleading Congress and the American people into war with tales of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.

Democratic House leaders have opposed impeaching Bush or Cheney as an unhelpful distraction. They were nearly embarrassed last year when Republicans voted to take up Kucinich's effort against Cheney in order to force a debate; they are unlikely to let the matter get so far this time

Bob Fertik, president of Democrats.com, one of the groups pushing for impeachment congratulated Kucinich on his "historic leadership

Tags: kucinich.impeach

<clipSource>http://www.michaelmoore.com/words/latestnews/index.php?id=11636</clipSource>

NJ protesters greet Bush

clipped by: kkcapricorn
clipper's remarks:
Some protesters like Patricia Kuc, of Wrightstown, want Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney impeached for starting the war in Iraq, among other reasons.

When asked if she thought that would ever happen, she said, "No, unfortunately not, because the Republicans and the Democrats all play to the same tune."

Kuc said she would like Bush and Cheney impeached for "tearing up our Constitution, creating an illegal war of aggression against people who didn't do anything to us and abandoning all of our civil rights."

"We're going to be living in a fascist country very soon," she said. Although the Congressional District has been reliably Democratic throughout Kucinich's six terms, the anti-Kucinich sentiment among Republican interests is likely to fuel a massive outpouring of support for his opponent in the general election campaign
We need him and his pocket constitution in Congress!

Clip Source: www.opednews.com

According to figures released yesterday, about 10,000 registered Republicans in Kucinich's 10th Congressional District switched their party affiliation to vote in the Democratic primary.
