The President and The Republican Party should be glad that Americans are greeting the plan with an open mind. The bailout plan is expected to create an additional 2 trillion dollars of debt for future generations to pay off.

The President took a surprisingly somber and bipartisan tone today as he outlined a program to fix the financial crisis caused by his administration's hands off economic polices. In a speech in the Rose Garden the President announced that the taxes of hardworking middle class Americans will be used to buy up the bad debts created by the poorly regulated mortgage and investment banking industries

Anyone who thought Dennis J. Kucinich would quiet down after Democratic leaders gave him a public forum to talk about impeaching the president hasn’t met Dennis J. Kucinich.

The Ohio Democrat was allowed to make his case for impeachment at a House Judiciary Committee hearing July 25. But he’s back already with what he calls a “citizen’s petition” intended to demonstrate support for throwing President Bush out of the White House before his term ends in January.

In an online appeal to the names on his campaign e-mail list, Kucinich calls the Judiciary discussion “a day of singular importance.”

Kucinich intends to submit nearly 100,000 signatures — some mailed to his congressional office — in support of impeachment so that the “people will know that their message” will be delivered to the Judiciary committee

For the first time the case for impeachment was discussed in front of a congressional committee, in depth, at length and with authority

"Now, some of them believe that by demanding that I leave the White House, they can force our commanders in Iraq to withdrawal" Mr. Bush said. "That's not going to happen. If Congress forces me from the White House after the election, the American people will know who to hold responsible."

"Here's the bottom line," Mr. Bush went on. "Setting an artificial timetable for withdrawal from the White House will only embolden the Democrats. And I have made it clear for weeks I'm not leaving."

Bush critics get an unimpeachable forum

Kucinich got a rock star welcome of whistles, hoots and clapping as he walked into the hearing room, holding hands with his wife, from hundreds of anti-war, anti-Bush people crammed into the room and lining the hallways outside. T-shirts reading "Arrest Bush" and "Veterans for Impeachment" illustrated the sentiments of many.

"The decision before us is whether to demand accountability for one of the gravest injustices imaginable," Kucinich testified

Rep. Zoe Lofgren, D-Calif., was less circumspect in asserting that Bush was "the worst president that our nation has ever suffered."

Rep. Maurice Hinchey, D-N.Y., concluded that "this is the most impeachable administration in the history of America because of the way that it has clearly violated the law."

The House on Tuesday voted 238-180 to send his article of impeachment — for Bush's reasoning for taking the country to war in Iraq — to the Judiciary Committee, which buried Kucinich's previous effort.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said this morning that the House Judiciary Committee may hold hearings on an impeachment resolution offered by Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio).

Kucinich is expected to offer a "privileged resolution" this afternoon calling on the House to look at whether President Bush should be removed from office for lying to Congress and the American public when he sought congressional approval back in 2002 for taking military action to invade Iraq and overthrow Saddam Hussein.

Pelosi has said previously that impeachment "was off the table," so her comments this morning were surprising, and clearly signaled a new willingness to entertain the idea of ousting Bush, although no one in the Democratic leadership believes that is likely since the president has only six months left in this term.

global warming has removed most of the ice that prevented ships from traveling along the Northwest passage that runs from Greenland to Alaska. This has enabled ships to deliver goods much more easily and efficiently from Asian to Europe.

The President also pointed out that with rising winter temperatures comes less need for home heating oil, gas, coal and other forms of energy

Rep. Dennis Kucinich, who introduced legislation last year to impeach Vice President Dick Cheney, is now aiming higher.

On the House floor this evening, the Ohio Democrat proposed impeaching President Bush. In language similar to that in the articles of impeachment he raised against Cheney, Kucinich sought support for a 35-count indictment charging Bush with misleading Congress and the American people into war with tales of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.

Democratic House leaders have opposed impeaching Bush or Cheney as an unhelpful distraction. They were nearly embarrassed last year when Republicans voted to take up Kucinich's effort against Cheney in order to force a debate; they are unlikely to let the matter get so far this time

BUSH GETS LOWEST APPROVAL RATING YET

President Bush's approval rating has hit an new low, dropping to 25 percent in the most recent CBS News poll.

Bush now ranks 3rd all time in lowest approval rating, hovering above Richard Nixon's 24 percent in August 1974 and Harry Truman's 22 percent in February 1952. Bush's 67 percent disapproval rating, however, ranks slightly higher than both Nixon and Truman during their least popular rating.

The Iraq war continues to plague the president's popularity. Despite much touted "success" for the surge, 61 percent of respondents said Iraq will never be a stable democracy, up 8 percent since September. And 42 percent want troops out of Iraq within the year.

An overwhelming 83 percent of respondents said the country is on the wrong track.
