THE MORE I LISTEN TO AND READ ABOUT “the most liberal member of the U.S. Senate,” the more I like him. Barack Obama strikes a chord with me like no political figure since Ronald Reagan. To explain why, I need to explain why I am a conservative and what it means to me.

Liberalism always seemed to me to be a system of “oughts.” We ought to do this or that because it’s the right thing to do, regardless of whether it works or not. It is a doctrine based on intentions, not results, on feeling good rather than doing good.

But today it is so-called conservatives who are cemented to political programs when they clearly don’t work.

That is not conservatism; it is profligacy using conservatism as a mask.

This kind of conservatism, which is not conservative at all, has produced financial mismanagement, the waste of human lives, the loss of moral authority, and the wreckage of our economy that McCain now threatens to make worse.

Speaking on CNBC this morning, the real estate magnate said taking punitive measures against companies reaping big profits in a capitalist society is against his nature, but the energy situation is unique.

"I consider myself to be a great capitalist, but I think the oil companies have been ripping off this country and the world for a long time," Trump said. "I can see doing something against the oil companies. They're making numbers--nobody's ever seen numbers like this. They and OPEC and lots of people together are having a lot of fun."

Market full of oil, price trend "fake"

The market is full of oil and the rising price trend is "fake and imposed," Iran's president said on Tuesday, partly blaming a weak U.S. dollar which he said was being pushed lower on purpose

To learn, love & perpetuate ourselves.

Why bother with trying to "find a god"?

Aren't these three things hard enough to do already?

I think that those who are incapable of learning, loving and reproducing wanted answers why :

"Why is this difficult to understand?"
"Why did she leave me?"
"Why can't I get laid?"
"Why is the world so unfair?"

And so the concept of 'god', and promise of heaven and divine retribution and justice that go along with it were born. The root of religion is a revenge fantasy, where the injustices of life are all made good again.

This is why religious people support oppression and violence toward others.

An Iraqi general told reporters that Kaissar carried out the attack because he had links to "Sunni Arab insurgent groups."

"Soldier Kaissar Saady worked for insurgent groups who pushed him to learn army movements and warn his comrades about them," a captain of the second Iraqi army division told IPS. "There are so many like him in the army and now within the so-called Awakening forces (militias funded by the U.S. military)."
