They said it would never happen, but apparently it has.

According to NME , Guns N' Roses have finally finished their long awaited Chinese Democracy, the album that Axl Rose has been working on for the past 14 years.

Was it Dr. Pepper's prodding that finally got Axl and the boys to finished what they started 14 years ago?

Therockradio.com reports that Geffen Records, the band's record label, have confirmed they have received a finished copy of the album, and are currently haggling over money and rights issues with Rose.

The album is reported to have cost in excess of $13 million to produce.

Nearly all of today's Native Americans in North, Central and South America can trace part of their ancestry to six women whose descendants immigrated around 20,000 years ago, a DNA study suggests.

Those women left a particular DNA legacy that persists today in about 95 percent of Native Americans, researchers said.

The work was published this week by the journal PLoS One. Perego is from the Sorenson Molecular Genealogy Foundation in Salt Lake City, Utah, and the University of Pavia in Italy.

The work confirms previous indications of the six maternal lineages, he said. But an expert unconnected with the study said the findings left some questions unanswered.

A series of attacks on dyed-hair, eye-makeup-wearing emo kids began in early March when several hundred people went on an emo-beating rampage in Querétaro, a town of 1.5 million about 160 miles north of Mexico City.

Music-based subcultures have permeated Mexico's major cities for decades, fueled by constant migration from rural cities. But only in the past year have emos begun to make their presence felt in the streets. In response, many of the established so-called tribus urbanas like punks and metalheads are responding with violence. The emo-punk battles are reminiscent of earlier subculture fights among various factions, like the Hell's Angels fighting hippies at the Altamont Music Festival or the Mods taking on the Rockers.

Apple Settles "Frivolous" Lawsuit

Apple has agreed an out of court settlement to a ten-month old complaint against the way it has claimed its Macs display "millions of colours".

Terms of the settlement have not been disclosed. A lawsuit (which attempted to be a class action, but failed to attract sufficient litigants for such status) was filed last year by professional photographers, Fred Greaves and Dave Gatley.

They claimed that they had been fooled into purchasing Apple laptops by Apple's claimed support for millions of colours. "The displays are only capable of displaying the illusion of millions of colors through the use of a software technique referred to as 'dithering,' " the lawsuit said.

"A scrambled Rubik's cube can be solved in just 25 moves, regardless of the starting configuration. Tomas Rokicki, a Stanford-trained mathematician, has proven the new limit (down from 26 which was proved last year) using a neat piece of computer science. Rather than study individual moves, he's used the symmetry of the cube to study its transformations in sets. This allows him to separate the 'cube space' into 2 billion sets each containing 20 billion elements. He then shows that a large number of these sets are essentially equivalent to other sets and so can be ignored. Even then, to crunch through the remaining sets, he needed a workstation with 8GB of memory and around 1500 hours of time on a Q6600 CPU running at 1.6GHz. Next up, 24 moves."
