It will center around a murder who is stalking his prey virtually through SL.

While I am not a big fan of CSI (can anyone say overacting) this episode will be interesting for one main reason...

How many people will sign up for SL after the episode, and will the influx of users crash the SL servers?

This should be cool

Clip Source: www.techcrunch.com

Second Life is bracing itself for an influx of new members this coming week with the long awaited episode of CSI:NY does Second Life to be shown in the United States on Wednesday.

The episode will see Mac Taylor (Gary Sinise) entering Second Life to pursue a killer who has killed a Second Life user in a case of virtual stalking gone too far.

CSI:NY fans will be encouraged to join Second Life and investigate the case by following a link on the CBS website. CSI:NY will have three options for CSI-related inworld activities. The first option will allow viewers to walk around virtual New York buildings and visit a CSI lab and play forensic games.

The CSI:NY episode also sees the launch of the Electric Sheep Company’s OnRez Second Life client, the first major independent Second Life client launched since Linden Lab moved to provide open access to their virtual world in January.

Tags: second life, csi, forensics, computers

<clipSource>http://www.techcrunch.com/2007/10/20/csiny-comes-to-second-life-wednesday/</clipSource>

Old Apple Adds From The 80's

clipped by: kidora

Clip Source: www.applegazette.com

This video is actually a collection of 4 ads from the late 1980s. Does this man, who is reportedly from Long Island and named Greg Packer, have what it takes to make it? Instead of what I believe was around 5 hours of video/talk and 16 hours of audio playback, Apple has updated the iPhone's battery life rating to the following numbers: up to 8 hours talk time, a whopping 250 hours of standby (over 10 days), 6 hours of internet use, 7 hours of video playback and 24 hours of audio playback. Of course, just like any other mobile phone, these numbers can vary depending on various factors like intermittent use and network configuration (whether features like Wi-Fi or the speakerphone are enabled, etc.).

Tags: iphone, apple, mac, updates, talk time

<clipSource>http://www.tuaw.com/2007/06/18/iphone-delivers-up-to-8-hours-of-talk-time/</clipSource>

Why Don't You Drive Your Mac Book Pro ?

clipped by: kidora
clipper's remarks: Wow, when apple said they where trying to expand their market I had no idea that I was going to be able to drive a mac.
Does anyone remember the Coke/Pepsi wars?
Mercedes will have exclusive rights to the new Apple in-car system for 6 months. The article speculated as to whether the Apple system will rely on Google Maps as the iPhone does, however no firmer details were available.

Given the small form factor of the Mini Mac, it’s not a stretch to imagine a similar sized OS X powered unit being built into vehicles.

Tags: apple, car, mac

<clipSource>http://www.techcrunch.com/2007/06/17/oh-lord-wont-you-buy-me-an-apple-powered-mercedes-benz/</clipSource>

Throwing Apples At Windows

clipped by: kidora
clipper's remarks: Antoher reason why you should swith to Apple come October.

Clip Source: blogs.zdnet.com

You’re Apple, Inc. You have a new kick-butt file system, ZFS, that blows away Microsoft’s aging NTFS and complements see-and-gotta-have storage tools like Time Machine.

And maybe, you’d like to add the world’s Windows users to your total available market. Enabling customers to replace the creaking mass of Windows compromise with something modern. Sure, Vista looks new, but the guts are old. The NTFS file system is based on 1980’s technology from DEC, after all.

In either case you need a new file system. Changing file systems is error-prone and tedious: back up all your data, reformat the disk, install the new OS and then restore your data. Except now Apple has a better way.

A way that can change Windows file systems to Mac file systems.

According to a patent filed by smart Apple engineers Greg Marriott and David Shayer, Apple can do that. (I heard about the patent from Greg Keizer.)

The invention isn’t hard to describe. The fun is in the possible uses.

Tags: apple, mac, microsoft, windows, os, files

<clipSource>http://blogs.zdnet.com/storage/?p=146</clipSource>

Safari On Windows

clipped by: kidora
clipper's remarks: Now you can surf like a mac.

Clip Source: news.com.com

After bringing iTunes over to Windows, the Mac maker announced on Monday that it is also making its Safari Web browser available for users of Microsoft's operating system. The company released a "public beta" version of Safari 3.0 that runs on Windows XP and Windows Vista, as well as on Mac OS X Tiger.
