I was on some news program a few weeks ago talking about Barack Obama's YouTube videos and Hillary's online live chats, and at the end of the segment I said that the Internet empowers Regular-Joe candidates by giving them free access to a huge chunk of potential voters. The thing is, Obama and Hillary have tons of cash to run "real" political campaigns with slick TV spots and so on. They're taking the free route not to save cash but to reach YOU instead of the oldsters who watch the nightly news. If you're online, you're engaged, and politicians dig that.

Step 2: Keep a blog, but make it good. Link-baity lists like "17 Reasons to Enforce Anti-Spam Legislation" are good; "10 Reasons Mac Users Should Vote for Me" is better. Make sure you have a credible (yet hip) blogroll. And use ClipMarks to post snippets and ideas from around the Web and other blogs, to show that you can both talk and listen.

gspace is definitely one of the coolest things I’ve seen. It can turn your gmail account into online storage tool stuffed with handy features. It’s in a way similar to previously reviewed gmail drive but way way more powerful. So let’s look into it
At the moment gspace works only with firefox, so you gotta have firefox(review) before you can try it. When it comes to operating system things look good as there are versions for windows, linux and mac OS X.

Gspace

Once installed, open your firefox browser and go to: ‘Tools > Gspace’ to run it. Gspace interface has 4 key areas; My Computer(files on your PC), My Gspace(files stored on gmail), Transfers(transferring, completed, cancelled, files in queue, …) and Status (logged in, logged out, file details etc…). Before anything else you’ll need to enter your gmail details through ‘Manage Accounts’ option. Once done you should be able to login and test things out,

There’s a single word that summarize the recent apple strategy.
And the word is Absence.

iMac

no printer port

no floppy disk (in 1998!)

iPod Shuffle

No screen.

Mac Mini

No monitor
No keybord
No mouse

iPhone

No keybord
No stylus

Do you notice something?

Apple removes things.
And give to the user what he needs, with simplicity embedded.

Other companies are always trying to add new features to their products

Our new mouse has 5 full-customizable buttons and 3 weels!

they add tons of useless features, but nobody thinks to remove the old (s)crap!

Do you realize that Microsoft “A Breakthrough Computing Experience” Vista comes with MS Paint installed? The same MS paint you used with Windows 3.1!
That’s ages ago!
They add, add, add and what you get is a stupid 7gb OS with MS Paint! And I don’t want to think about the code inside their DLLs…

In HW and SW markets things change really fast… devices and patterns move at such an hight rate that well established standard become old in few years… Companies should learn that what was good 6 months ago now it’s useless and can be removed to expand and explore new stuff.

So, the next time you’re doing Product Development and brainstorming about your new product or your new sw release, don’t ask “What can we add to make our product better” as the first question, try something like

What can be removed from our product to make it better?

Don’t particularly like the default theme on Firefox? One good thing about Mozilla’s browser is that you can install a new one, choosing from hundreds with different, original styles. From your top menu bar, just select Tools>Add-ons. When the window pops up select the ‘Themes’ tab and press the ‘get themes’ link at the bottom right of the window. You’ll be taken to a Mozilla page which lists up loads of different themes, organized by category, from retro to animals, sport, modern or more. On Softonic, we’ve selected a few that we particularly like, including the Vista-aero theme, Mostly Crystal and Doodle Plastik.

If you aren’t convinced by these, we suggest taking a look at Mashable’s list of 30 Firefox themes.

I quite like FOXSCAPE, with its Netscape-like interface, iFox Smooth, with its Safari for Mac feel, or Ubuntu Human theme, great for Linux fans.

Linux Beer

LINUX beer tastes just like Unix beer. Like Unix beer, Linux beer is intended for expert beer drinkers only. It originally had no pop tops or cans because you had to brew it yourself. First you would get a recipe and some yeast from a Unix guru. Then go plow a field, plant your barley and hops. After harvest you would take your Kernels and put them into a barrel full of water, then you just add your yeast close the lid, and let your beer compile. After all this you have what experts claim to be one of the Worlds Best Beers. Linux beers do not normally explode but many brewers have been known to. Linux beer is now available from some Micro Brewerys in handy pop top versions for easy drinking by beginner Unix or Linux beer drinkers. Keep your can openers handy.

DOS Beer

Requires you to use your own can opener, and requires you to read the directions carefully before opening the can. Originally only came in an 8-oz. can, but now comes in a 16-oz. can. However, the can is divided into 8 compartments of 2 oz. each, which have to be accessed separately. Soon to be discontinued, although a lot of people are going to keep drinking it after it's no longer available.

Mac Beer

At first, came only a 16-oz. can, but now comes in a 32-oz. can. Considered by many to be a "light" beer. All the cans look identical. When you take one from the fridge, it opens itself. The ingredients list is not on the can. If you call to ask about the ingredients, you are told that "you don't need to know." A notice on the side reminds you to drag your empties to the trashcan.

Windows 98 Beer

Millions sampled Windows95 beer and noticed that it was often flat, right out of the can. The manufacturer of Windows95 beer decided to re-release it as Windows98 beer and guarantee it's freshness. Most consumers are skeptical of the manufacturer's claims, and will continue to drink flat Windows95 beer because they have acquired the taste for it.

Disgusting. This is YOUR tax money being used to bail out rich investors who were so greedy that they just couldn't settle for usury of homeowners who could afford it, they had to try and fleece the poor too.
