I do suggest waiting some period before upgrading due to some issues that Leopard was having with Adobe programs in the recent seeds.

Apple is getting ready for important announcements for late October, according to AppleInsider.

The period between October 22nd and 27th is being pointed out as the likely stretch during which Apple will make its announcements. Furthermore, the publication targets October 26th as ship date for the company's long-awaited Mac OS X Leopard.

Leopard has seen its release date delayed in April as it was scheduled to launch in June with the iPhone.

There is only person who tops the wacky iPhone boy when it comes to excitement over the device's release. That is this man pictured at the front of the line of the Apple Store on 5th Avenue in New York City. While he's fully stocked with Scooby snacks and what appears to be Gatorade - I counted eight plastic and paper bags full of goodies - he seems to have forgotten his sunscreen and shirt. Does this man, who is reportedly from Long Island and named Greg Packer, have what it takes to make it? I'm thinking an appointment with a waxer might be necessary.

iPhone Going The Way Of The iPod?

clipper's remarks: For the iPhone to be as successful as the iPod Apple will have to come up with a cheaper alternative.
This picture is a humorous what if.
Personally I would love to see a version of the iPhone that would allow a wider range of consumers to experience this really exciting technology. Unfortunately the iPhone is flying in the stratosphere with a BMW and a first class ticket to London.
My guess is that once this behemoth comes out and it doesn't explode in their faces the first month, they will then release a cheaper version that we can all afford without selling our first child.
So cheers folks, and don't sell off your kidneys yet.

Yeah, don't pretend like you didn't see this one coming. Completely unsubstantiated "market sources" rumors are making the rounds that Apple is already prepping a lower cost iPhone variant. Warning: completely mundane "analysis" follows. According to American Technology Research analyst Shaw Wu, "Apple needs to round out its iPhone product line at lower price points (similar to iPod) if it expects to replicate the success of its iPod with sales of 100 million units."

Talk about last minute upgrades: In a press release today, Apple has revealed a number of significant upgrades to both the iPhone's battery life and touch screen. Instead of what I believe was around 5 hours of video/talk and 16 hours of audio playback, Apple has updated the iPhone's battery life rating to the following numbers: up to 8 hours talk time, a whopping 250 hours of standby (over 10 days), 6 hours of internet use, 7 hours of video playback and 24 hours of audio playback. Of course, just like any other mobile phone, these numbers can vary depending on various factors like intermittent use and network configuration (whether features like Wi-Fi or the speakerphone are enabled, etc.).

Does anyone remember the Coke/Pepsi wars? Well, this is kind of starting to feel like this. Soon I am sure we are going to see Microsoft coming out with their own car. I just quiver with anticipation

A German Magazine is reporting that Apple and Mercedes Benz have signed a deal whereby Apple will design an in-car maintenance, communication and navigation system for inclusion in Mercedes Benz vehicles from 2009.

Mercedes will have exclusive rights to the new Apple in-car system for 6 months. The article speculated as to whether the Apple system will rely on Google Maps as the iPhone does, however no firmer details were available.

Given the small form factor of the Mini Mac, it’s not a stretch to imagine a similar sized OS X powered unit being built into vehicles.

So now that the very slick Apple iPhone TV ads are available for viewing, I am sure many of us have our gadget lust peaked and are thinking about what our iPhone acquisition strategy may be on 29 June. As compelling as the iPhone looks, there are also many of us who are not AT&T customers and are locked into other carriers for a period of up to 2 years. My personal situation results in a couple of alternatives for me to get an iPhone, with a total price difference for 2 years of service totaling at least US$2,245 or US$2,383 and after putting it down on paper I may actually go for it so check out the details below if you are with another carrier and thinking about the switch or addition.
