It must have seemed so perfect. An obscure blogger unearths some pages of President Obama's college thesis. The report supposedly comes from big-time journalist Joe Klein of Time magazine. And the thesis has some real gems: like Obama's disdain for the Constitution.

Rush Limbaugh, who quoted from the supposed thesis on his radio show, sure wasn't laughing. Here's how it went down.

An unknown blogger picked up on a made-up post meant as a joke, which claimed that Joe Klein had gotten his hands on 10 pages of student Obama's college thesis. Rush Limbaugh jumped on it, which immediately sparked Web searches on "obama thesis."

Supposedly titled "Aristocracy Revisited," the excerpt revealed the president had "doubts" about the "so-called founders." Juicy. Except not true. Limbaugh discovered halfway through his show that he'd been had, but defended himself by saying basically the thesis felt true. Listen in to Rush's mea sorta culpa.

Rep. Michele Bachmann stepped up the rhetoric against her liberal colleagues in Congress on Monday, calling on Americans to "make a covenant, slit our wrists, be blood brothers" in a mission to stop the Democratic health care proposal

Responding to a question about what changes to health care delivery and payment would be necessary if the Democratic reform proposal were to pass, Bachmann emphasized that "we can't even have that discussion." She added: "This cannot pass. It cannot."

Bachmann suggested that better methods of overhauling health care would be to "erase" state boundaries for purchasing health insurance and address tort reform.

Moving to taxes, Bachmann said that for some Americans, the ratio of tax payments to earned income can reach 50 percent -- compared to 5 percent in 1950.

"This is slavery, it's nothing more than slavery," she said. "The Constitution provides freedom."

DES MOINES, Iowa — Iowa Republican Sen. Charles Grassley said Monday he remains hopeful a limited health care reform measure can be negotiated, but that a small bipartisan group of senators working on the issue agrees a government-run public option won't be part of the package.

See, the problem with the GOP is that they KNOW a gov. run health care system will absolutely work – just like it's working for medicare, SSI, and CHIP.

That's why they're so adamentaly against it – that and they have their hands in the Insurance Company pockets – The GOP want to be the Party to bring it but they had their chance – years of chances. They know when Universal Health Care with a public option is avaialble to all Americans, the Party that brung it will be hailed as leaders for generations to come. That's the whole problem with the GOP – Party before Country.

Should English be the official language of the United States? That assertion was made over the weekend at a conference hosted by talk-show personality and former presidential candidate Pat Buchanan. Oddly, as the featured speakers delivered their remarks ridiculing Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor for her supposed lack of English proficiency while at Princeton University, and warning that the Obama administration is "going to gradually institute institutional bilingualism in the country," they did so beneath a large banner that contained a doozy of a typo. The Democratic primary for governor in Virginia ended up being the story of the tortoise and the hares.

The hares were Terry McAuliffe and Brian Moran. The tortoise was Creigh Deeds. You know how this one ends.Deeds, a state senator, easily won the nomination, taking about 50% of the vote and winning jurisdictions in every corner of the state. Even a month ago, no one, not even the most diehard Deeds supporters, would have predicted that he would dominate the field in this way.

While Moran sparred with McAuliffe, Deeds ran an inoffensive, workmanlike campaign.

As Deeds surged, McAuliffe and Moran were caught napping; they hadn’t presented the case against Deeds at any point during the campaign.
