Why do we feel we have the right to "make all other nations a democracy?" What I see here is the typical of fundamental Christian influence. "We are right, and everyone else is wrong...we will change them."

If you read the entirety of this article, I'm sure many of you will feel sick to your stomach.

I can only hope, that somehow the world can one day see us as a place of hope and freedom, and not as what we have become by persisting in this war by these means and using such tactics of terrorism.

Why, upon capturing Saddam Hussein, and finding no WMD, did we not leave the nation of Iraq? When intelligence sources indicated that Osama Bin Laden was not within the borders of Iraq, why did we persist in this attack upon this nation?

No, I am not a political science major. I am not well versed in war-time strategy. I am a veteran, however. I was not in the Army during war or conflict. Now...I am a civil

Clip Source: www.macleans.ca

"Why are you doing this to us?"

I couldn't answer that.

Something was amiss. We hadn't found anything in this girl's house, but we had busted it up pretty well in 30 minutes and had taken away her brothers.

Her questions haunted me, and I didn't like not being able to answer them -- even to myself.

One raid was far worse.

Then something happened that haunts my dreams to this day. All the women were led back inside the house and our entire platoon was ordered to stand guard outside it. Four U.S. military men entered the house with the women. They closed the doors.

The women started shouting and screaming. The men stayed in there with them, behind closed doors. It went on and on and on.

It struck me then that we, the American soldiers, were the terrorists. We were terrorizing Iraqis. Intimidating them. Beating them. Destroying their homes. Probably raping them.

Tags: iraq, war, terrorism, terrorist, usa

<clipSource>http://www.macleans.ca/world/global/article.jsp?content=20070205_140356_140356</clipSource>

How are Christians different?

clipped by: kcgirlgeek
clipper's remarks: Please read the full article this comes from. It is not a shameless plug, it is a sincere question to part of the community, that I still fail to understand, even after having been a part of their ranks at one time.

Clip Source: kcgirlgeek.blogspot.com

What sort of human beings would have an anti-gay, hate-filled protest at a young man's funeral who was viciously murdered by two men who killed him simply because they "hate fags?" Yes, it's quite a few years old, but the advice is timeless.

Clip Source: onthevirg.stumbleupon.com

Wear sunscreen.

Do one thing every day that scares you.

Don't be reckless with other people's hearts. Don't put up with people who are reckless with yours.

Keep your old love letters. Throw away your old bank statements.

Don't feel guilty if you don't know what you want to do with your life.
The most interesting people I know didn't know at 22 what they wanted to do with their lives.
Some of the most interesting 40-year-olds I know still don't.

Whatever you do, don't congratulate yourself too much, or berate yourself either.

Dance, even if you have nowhere to do it but your living room.

Sing.

Travel.

Accept certain inalienable truths:
--Prices will rise. Politicians will philander. You, too, will get old.
And when you do, you'll fantasize that when you were young, prices were reasonable,
politicians were noble and children respected their elders.

Respect your elders.

But trust me on the sunscreen.

Tags: music, life lessons, lyrics

<clipSource>http://onthevirg.stumbleupon.com/</clipSource>

Things that take most of our lives to LEARN....

clipped by: kcgirlgeek
clipper's remarks: Just a few of the "gems" in this comical and all too truthful list.

Clip Source: onthevirg.stumbleupon.com

Things It Takes Most Of Us 50 Years To Learn:

There will never be a winner because terrorism isn't an adversary -- it is a tactic. Peter Ustinov, the great European intellectual, put it this way: "War is the terrorism of the rich and powerful, and terrorism is the war of the poor and powerless." This word terrorism has been distorted beyond any further usefulness. Terrorism is what the other guy does.

Tags: politics, liberal, terrorism, war, war on terror

<clipSource>http://updoc1011.stumbleupon.com/</clipSource>
