SULAIMANIYA, Iraq (Reuters) - Turkish warplanes targeting Kurdish rebels bombed northern Iraq on Sunday, killing one woman and forcing hundreds to flee, local officials said.

"The Turkish military said it had attacked targets of the separatist Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) with the approval of U.S. occupying forces in Iraq. The United States said only that it had been informed in advance of the operation.

Turkish ground forces also shelled areas where the rebels were based, an army statement said. Turkey's NTV television said 50 aircraft had taken part in the three-hour operation."

Now another ground zero first responder has shed more light on how he heard the countdown moments before attempting to escape the collapse of Building 7 as a stampede ensued."

A 9/11 first responder has gone on the record to describe how he heard a demolition-style countdown precede the collapse of WTC 7, eyewitness testimony that dovetails with other EMT's and rescue personnel who were also told that Building 7 was going to be "brought down".

Earlier this year, we reported on the testimony of an anonymous EMT named Mike who told Loose Change producer Dylan Avery that hundreds of emergency rescue personnel were told over bullhorns that Building 7, a 47 story skyscraper adjacent the twin towers that was not hit by a plane yet imploded symmetrically later in the afternoon on 9/11, was about to be "pulled" and that a 20 second radio countdown preceded its collapse.

That account was backed up by another ground zero rescue worker who went on the record with her full name.

Mysterious package found at Winnipeg virus lab

Winnipeg bomb disposal experts and a hazardous materials unit examined a mysterious package delivered to the federal virology laboratory on Friday, but left the area after only two hours.

The lab, called the Canadian Centre for Human and Animal Health, handles extremely dangerous material like the Ebola virus.

The Centre was never evacuated, although police temporarily closed nearby streets as a precaution.

It's unclear what was inside the package, but one local report suggested it may have been an old piece of luggage.

TORONTO — Torontonians were transfixed Friday by the spectacle of police gingerly transporting three live bombs through their city, while shutting down two of Toronto’s busiest roadways for more than an hour after a man was arrested for a series of letter bombings earlier this month.

As news helicopters buzzed overhead, a 17-car police convoy crept slowly down the normally bustling Don Valley Parkway and under the Gardiner Expressway to a deserted spit of land on the Lake Ontario waterfront, carefully towing a trailer containing the three explosive devices seized earlier from a rental car.

Bridges over the busy parkway were sealed off and pedestrians and other vehicles kept hundreds of metres away until the bombs could be carefully deposited on an isolated peninsula jutting into Lake Ontario and blown up in a controlled explosion that could be heard kilometres away.

This Navy test of a prototype warhead showed that reactive materials � inert compounds that ignite on impact � can increase the radius and lethality of a missile.

When most bombs go off, they release a spray of deadly shards of steel. Now, imagine that those shards were themselves explosive, detonating in a massive chain reaction. It's for real: Defense contractors are harnessing the strange alchemy of reactive materials (RMs) � in which two or more inert materials are mixed to create an explosion � to develop smaller, more lethal warheads, as well as new ways to protect troops against mortar rounds and rocket-propelled grenades.

BattleAxe development will run through 2009,

Despite their potential, it could take years for RMs to reach the battlefield. There's no deployment date for the Army's defensive system, and with possible deployment years later.
