Boehner: They're 'gonna hang' Pelosi

House Minority Leader John Boehner used some vivid language last week to describe the political consequences House Speaker Nancy Pelosi would face for refusing to hold a vote on expanding offshore drilling.

Pelosi's top deputy is urging him to take it back.

"She's gonna bring us back and not deal with it?" asked the Ohio Republican, as quoted by Politico. "The American people are gonna hang her."

Steny Hoyer, who has enjoyed a cordial relationship with Boehner, said he was "disappointed" by the "inappropriate comments."

A spokesman for Boehner said today that the minority leader had "used a figure of speech to reflect the frustration Americans feel every time they fill up at the pump."

My jaw dropped as I heard someone say exactly what I thought & felt but with credibility and facts to back up what he was saying. Number one on the list is Rush's passion, followed by his ability to make the complex understandable, his sense of humor, and his willingness to stick with his beliefs, whether popular or not.

He brings to his on-air analysis an understanding of the media, politics, human nature, history, the market, and many other factors. Often he is able to see past the façade people and organizations erect to disguise or soften their intent because he recognizes patterns he has understood and noted before.

CHICAGO (CBS) ― Father Michael Pfleger will return to the pulpit at St. Sabina Catholic Church on June 16, after Cardinal Francis George forced him to take a leave of absence over controversial comments about U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton.

"I have asked Father Michael Pfleger, Pastor of St. Sabina's Parish, to step back from his obligations there," the cardinal said in a statement on Tuesday, "and take leave for a couple of weeks from his pastoral duties."

Parishioners said Sunday morning that they have been told Pfleger will return to the church on June 16 on the grounds that he can not discuss politics.

The Pentagon's Iraq war funds, which are used to pay for food and ammunition for soldiers fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan, will run out if Congress does not quickly pass a supplemental funding bill, said Office of Management and Budget Director Jim Nussle

The White House has threatened to veto a supplemental war funding bill, which is scheduled for a vote in the Senate on Thursday, because it includes $50 billion in domestic spending that has nothing to do with the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. The domestic spending add-ons were made by both Democratic and Republican members of Congress.

"You can disagree about the politics of the war, but once you put people in harm's way, you ought to make sure they have their salary, their Kevlar, their maps, the bullets that they need," he said.

An inconvenient truth

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid declared the war in Iraq lost, saying the the extreme violence in the country proved the surge was accomplishing nothing. This week Senator Reid is still engaged in the vain attempt to block funding for the war

It is far too early to declare victory but you would think that all Americans and Australians,

would want to stick with a strategy that is delivering peace and security to a people who have suffered not just 4 1/2 years of a brutal insurgency but also three decades of tyranny and war.

both the British and the Americans are withdrawing their troops not according to a pre-determined timetable,

but in response to the situation on the ground.

The sad fact is that for most of the anti-war Left, the only thing that matters is delivering a defeat to the Bush administration, and in achieving that end the Iraqi people are expendable.
