Dead Sea Scroll Put on Rare Display in Israel

One of the most important Dead Sea scrolls is going on display in Jerusalem this week—more than four decades after it was last seen by the public.

The priceless manuscript, written by a Judean scribe around 120 B.C., was in a long glass case Tuesday, its neat rows of Hebrew letters distinct and legible.

The Isaiah manuscript was the only complete biblical book discovered among the Dead Sea scrolls,

The ancient documents, which include fragments of the books of the Old Testament and treatises on communal living and apocalyptic war, have shed important light on Judaism and the origins of Christianity.

The Book of Isaiah is traditionally attributed to a prophet who lived in the eighth century B.C.

Gaza Baptist Church used to draw hundreds of Palestinian worshipers to its two Sunday services. But on a recent Sunday in January, less than 10 people risked attending the only evangelical church in the 25-mile coastal strip.

In October, Rami Ayyad, the 29-year-old manager of Gaza's only Christian bookstore, was kidnapped and murdered. Then on February 15, a group of 14 masked gunmen forcibly entered the ymca offices and set off a bomb in the library, burning thousands of books.

clipper's remarks: I knew there was a reason I liked him, but I had no idea of his Christian faith. I liked him in Deja Vu and The Preacher's Wife.

I liked what he said about never wanting the 'bad guys' to not receive their rightful end in his films. He acknowledges that 'the wages of sin is death' and he wanted that portrayed.

His words about his life and his attitudes reminds me of those I read expressed by Justice Thomas.

TURKEY: MALATYA MURDER TRIAL SET TO OPEN

Malatya’s Third Criminal Court has set November 23 to open the trial of the confessed murderers of Turkish convert Christians Necati Aydin and Ugur Yuksel and a German Christian, Tilmann Geske.

The three Protestant Christians were tortured and killed by having their throats cut on April 18 of this year in the Zirve Publishing Company’s office in the southern province of Malatya.

News on the pending trial date in the Turkish press sensationalized some scandalous allegations

Ann Coulter honestly answered "yes" when asked by Deutch if she believes that this country "would be better if we were all Christian." She further stated that Christians "just want Jews to be perfected," i.e., to accept Jesus Christ as their lord and savior.

And what is Coulter's crime in this case?

Coulter's crime is that she violated one of PC's most sacred taboos: Expressing belief in the correctness of one's religion. The only thing worse than this in PC land is asserting the superiority of one's race.

Do Jews truly expect Christians to pretend that they do not believe in the teachings of their religion? Why? Because so many Jews have discarded the teachings of their own religion? (I myself am a secular Jew.)

A Modern-Day Stoning?!? Cold Case Smears Christian Kids

Hollywood likes to claim their programming simply reflects reality, but the latest episode of Cold Case was an exercise in bigoted, Christophobic fantasy.

In the September 30 episode of the CBS forensics show, the devoutly religious teens in an abstinence club turn out to be sexually active hypocrites who murder one of their own members – by stoning her, as the Bible teaches – to keep their sins secret. Their youth pastor encourages one girl to describe her impure dreams to him, and masturbates while listening.

In a ham-handed attempt to influence this fall’s Congressional debate on abstinence education programs, the show also depicts abstinence-only education as useless, if not actively harmful.

Hostages' Pastor: 'Remorse Is the Face of the Church'

The 19 South Koreans freed by the Taliban returned to Seoul Sunday as the church that sent the group fields critical remarks for sending members to such a volatile country.

The hostages did not know until after they were released that two male hostages, including the associate pastor of the church, were killed.

Park said that 20 South Koreans traveled to Afghanistan for a short-term trip to volunteer at a school and provide medical aid.

As they traveled through the country, their bus driver picked up two people without asking permission, which the pastor called a mistake. The two fired guns before taking the group hostage.

After the hostages' release, Taliban spokesman Qari Yousef Ahmadi told the Associated Press that the group plans to abduct more foreigners.

"We will do the same thing with the other allies in Afghanistan, because we found this way to be successful,"

Though he was never into drugs, he had strayed from our family. Never give up on your children. It's amazing how God can transform their lives.

clipper's remarks: I have not problem with this. PBS puts out stuff that bears no resemblance to what I consider orthodox Christianity all the time. It's just another's religious opinion; whether secular or Islamic. But I agree with Mr. Sookdeo...how would the extremist Muslim's respond in kind? Genuine Christians rest in the truth of their Faith. No longer is there the need or an understanding that there's a Biblical mandate to demand that other's believe as we do.

TV airing for Islam's story of Christ

There was no manger, Christ is not the Messiah, and the crucifixion never happened. A forthcoming ITV documentary will portray Jesus as Muslims see him.

With the Koran as a main source and drawing on interviews with scholars and historians, the Muslim Jesus explores how Islam honours Christ as a prophet but not as the son of God. According to the Koran the crucifixion was a divine illusion. Instead of dying on the cross, Jesus was rescued by angels and raised to heaven.

He called her his soul mate and best friend; she was also a woman who could keep him humble, help swat away the temptations and ego trips and the offers from moguls who wanted to make him a movie star or talk-show host.

Billy used to tell people he wasn't afraid of death but was maybe a little scared of the process of dying.

. "Over the years I've seen people lose a spouse and then withdraw and lose interest in life," he says, "and I believe we need to resist that." But it has become clear that a man who spent his life teaching people how to live is now in a position to show people how to die, with hope for an eternal kingdom that is no longer a theological abstraction to him.

Officers' role in Christian video probed
