CEDARBURG, Wisc. -- Hundreds of angry people in this small town outside Milwaukee taunted reporters and TV crews traveling with Sen. John McCain on Friday, chanting "Be fair!" and pointing fingers at a pack of journalists as they booed loudly.

the 30 or so reporters and crew were walking back to their buses to join the McCain motorcade when hundreds of townspeople started yelling.

"Stop lying! You are all liars! Tell the truth!"

The crowd was not menacing or threatening, but was clearly angry.

"I think the press is very liberal and very slanted against the McCain-Palin ticket. Would you ask a man if his kids were being taken care of while he's out campaigning?"

"The media has called her a sexy librarian look. Would you say that Obama is a sexy Will Smith look?

Palin files ethics complaint against self in 'troopergate'

Gov. Sarah Palin wants a state board to review the circumstances surrounding the dismissal of Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan -- taking the unusual step of making an ethics complaint against herself.

The lawyer, Thomas Van Flein, also asked the state legislature to drop its own investigation into the Monegan matter. He says the Personnel Board has jurisdiction over ethics.

"Governor Palin believes it will find no conceivable violation of the Ethics Act," her complaint says. She wants the investigation "to put these matters to rest."

Wooten had been disciplined over complaints brought by the family that included tasering his stepson, illegally shooting a moose and telling others that Heath would "eat a f***ing lead bullet" if he helped his daughter get an attorney for the divorce.

Wooten warned his ex-wife he was going to get her and Palin, the complaint says.

"There's a gigantic difference between John McCain and Barack Obama and between me and I suspect my vice-presidential opponent," Joe Biden said while campaigning in Toledo Sunday. "She's good-looking." It's a dismissive put-down we would expect from Biden, one a Republican couldn't get away with.

Obama spokesman Bill Burton was more direct, saying that McCain had irresponsibly put "the former mayor of a town of 9,000 with zero foreign policy experience a heartbeat away from the presidency." This said while he's trying to elect a former Illinois state senator who voted "present" 135 times and who spent just 143 business days in the Senate before deciding he was ready to lead the free world.

Palin has more executive experience actually running a government than Barack Obama and Joe Biden combined.

I’d like to share a picture of Governor Sarah Palin’s lovely young family, a photo that some may have already seen in connection to a despicable Internet smear against the Palins. Here we have Sarah and Todd with their daughters Piper, Willow, and Bristol. A few bloggers have pointed to the curve of Bristol’s stomach, rather typical for teens, as proof that it was she who gave birth to Trig Palin in April 2008, and not Governor Palin.

Either the Palin women have a record gestational period, or this proves that Bristol’s small amount of “baby fat” has nothing to do with an actual baby. She’s a normal young teenage girl, not the center of a grand conspiracy to hide some deep, dark family secret

US economy sees surprise 3.3 percent spurt

The US economy outpaced expectations as surging exports fueled a second-quarter growth spurt at a 3.3 percent pace, according to data Thursday that analysts say makes recession less likely.

The Commerce Department revised upward last month's estimate of a 1.9 percent annualized pace of growth in gross domestic product

The figure was much better than the average Wall Street estimate of 2.7 percent and showed a strong acceleration from the 0.9 percent rate of the first three months of the year.

The latest figures, helped somewhat by a massive economic stimulus package, suggest the world's biggest economy had more momentum than previously thought by analysts, many of whom anticipated recession.

"For a recession the economy is certainly growing very quickly," said Avery Shenfeld, senior economist at CIBC World Markets.

THE Palestinian protesters massed at the fence expected tear gas and rubber bullets; what they got instead was a putrid yellow wind, Israel's newest weapon against West Bank demonstrators.

The noxious mist, which Israeli police refer to as "skunk," was used for the first time earlier this month, when a truck-mounted cannon sprayed it over the heads of protesters, sending them racing down the hillside, retching and tearing off their shirts to try to escape the stench.

The Israeli border police called on them to disperse through loudspeakers, warning them they were near a "closed military zone."

"It's the start of a change in tactics in dealing with crowd control and dispersing violent demonstrations and violent instances," Israeli police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said.

"It protects the protesters because it doesn't require us to use tear gas and rubber bullets."
