One of the first women to admit having an affair with Tiger Woods has apologised to his wife but has no regrets about the affair.

Jaimee Grubbs broke her silence on Extra TV, saying she was sorry for the hurt she'd caused Woods' wife Elin Nordegren.

"I couldn't describe how remorseful that I am to have hurt her family and her emotionally," Grubbs told host Lauren Sanchez.

The 24-year-old was involved in a 30-month affair with Woods' during which they met up around 20 times.

Grubbs, who said she first met Woods when she was just 20, described the golf superstar as "an amazing guy despite everything that is coming forth."

She said Woods' never mentioned his wife and she didn't know he was married until they were "already in a relationship".

Grubbs said she finally decided to dish the dirt after realising she wasn't the only woman Tiger was having an affair with.

Since crashing his car on November 29, Woods has been linked to affairs with 11 women, including two porn actresses.

Obama Pushes New Job Stimulus

President Barack Obama pressed forward with an expansion of his $787 billion stimulus plan Tuesday, unveiling job-creation proposals that largely build on the initial package, including a hiring tax credit that his own party jettisoned as unworkable and some business owners deemed ineffective.

In a speech at the Brookings Institution, Mr. Obama avoided calling his jobs push a new stimulus plan. But White House officials acknowledged that the president was taking stimulus components that he believed worked best and extending or amplifying them.

These include putting an additional $50 billion toward infrastructure spending, ramping up Treasury Department lending to small businesses through the Troubled Asset Relief Program, extending tax credits for business investment and offering state and local governments a fresh lifeline.

White House officials said that by applying a little more gas as the jobs picture brightens, they can coax businesses to begin hiring.

A CHEMISTRY student has reportedly been killed by what is believed to be exploding chewing gum.

Russian news agency Ria Novosti reports the 25-year-old chemistry student was found dead with his jaw blown off after he was working on a computer at his parents’ house in the Ukraine city of Konotop.

"A loud pop was heard from the student's room," a city police chief aide told ukranews.com.

"When his relatives entered the room they saw that the lower part of the young man's face had been blown off."

The man was studying at Ukraine’s Kiev Polytechnic Institute and was known for his habit of dipping chewing in citric acid.

Ria Novosti reports police found both citric acid packets and “some kind of explosive material” on a table in his parents’s room.

They believe he may have confused the two packets, dipping thegum into the explosive material rather than the citric acid.

Christian Fronczek doesn’t want anything for his birthday.

Just like last year, the Aliso Viejo boy will be donating all his gifts to San Clemente Military Family Outreach. The nonprofit will then distribute the gifts to Camp Pendleton families for Christmas.

“I decided to choose a military-based organization because they do so much fighting for our country,” Fronczek said. “I just have so much stuff. I wanted to give back to them so their families could have presents and have a good Christmas.”

Fronczek’s gift comes as other community members also are helping military families, many of whom live below the poverty line. The holidays and the slumping economy have increased calls for help to San Clemente Military Family Outreach, the group says.

“I feel that their families need hope. I feel like they need to know that someone cares for them,” said Fronczek, who will celebrate his 13th birthday Thursday at Howie’s Game Shack in Mission Viejo.

Bomb plot leader's friends convicted of terror offences

Three friends of the leader of the airline bomb plot were convicted yesterday of terrorist offences connected to the plan to commit mass murder in the skies.

Adam Khatib, 22, was found guilty of conspiring with Abdulla Ahmed Ali to detonate suicide bombs on board transatlantic airliners flying from London to the US and Canada.

A jury at Woolwich Crown Court also found Nabeel Hussain, 25, guilty of acts preparatory to terrorism and convicted Mohammed Shamin Uddin, 39, of possessing a document likely to be useful to terrorists.

The three men were convicted at the end of an eight-week trial. They will be sentenced today. The prosecution said that they had helped Ali and his terror cell as they prepared for their suicide mission. The plot was thwarted in August 2006 after intensive surveillance by the police and intelligence services, as plans for the attacks were being finalised.

WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama is accepting the world's best-known peace award as a wartime president, an incongruity that he will directly speak to when he receives the Nobel Peace Prize on Thursday, White House officials say.

The president departed Wednesday to Oslo in an overnight flight, in time to be there for the award ceremony and banquet, and not much more. His minimalist approach reflects a White House that sees little value in touting an honor for peace just nine days after Obama announced he was sending 30,000 more troops to the war in Afghanistan.

The contrast has been stark for weeks. Obama won the award in early October, just as his review of a revamped war plan was intensifying. He and two speechwriters pivoted attention to the Nobel address the very day after Obama announced he was escalating the U.S. forces in Afghanistan to their highest levels.

On December 5, 1901 Walter Elias "Walt" Disney was born in Chicago, Illinois.

Little did anyone know that in the next 65 years, the world of entertainment would never be the same. With his brother, Roy, Walt Disney formed Walt Disney Productions that would eventually give us some of the most famous cartoon characters of all time, from Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck, created in the early years of animation, to the 21st century digital stars like Woody the cowboy and Buzz Lightyear.

You will struggle to find a single person on earth who has never come across at least one of Disney's many characters. And the best way to sum up the impact that Walt Disney's brainchild has had is to say that it's impossible to imagine the world without it.

Even since his death in 1966, technological advancements in animation and numerous shifts in the movie industry have failed to impact on Walt Disney's success.

WASHINGTON — It's hardly the image of transparency the Obama administration wants to project: A workshop on government openness is closed to the public.

The event Monday for federal employees is a fitting symbol of President Barack Obama's uneven record so far on the Freedom of Information Act, a big part of keeping his campaign promise to make his administration the most transparent ever. As Obama's first year in office ends, the government's actions when the public and press seek information are not yet matching up with the president's words.

"The Freedom of Information Act should be administered with a clear presumption: In the face of doubt, openness prevails," Obama told government offices on his first full day as president. "The government should not keep information confidential merely because public officials might be embarrassed by disclosure, because errors and failures might be revealed, or because of speculative or abstract fears."

Some parishioners in the Church of Obama discovered last week that their spiritual leader is a false prophet.

Consider the blow suffered by the liberal filmmaker Michael Moore, who issued a plaintive plea to the president on the eve of his announcement that he was sending 30,000 more troops into Afghanistan.

Obama, of course, was not moved by his follower from Flint. The real question is why Moore, and those millions and multitudes of whom he wrote, thought that Obama would do otherwise.

Overall liberal support for Obama had drifted down to 80 percent from 94 percent in the spring -- and, given the noisy complaints from the left last week, that number seems likely to fall further.

They saw him as a transformational figure who would end war, save the Earth from global warming, restore the economy -- and still be home for dinner.

For all of Obama's soaring oratory about hope and change, it was plain even during the campaign that his record was that of an incrementalist.

Houston braces for icy night after record early snow

First the snow, now the chill.

Today's daylong snowfall, the earliest in Houston's history, is beginning to let up as the storm system that caused it moves eastward. Meanwhile, temperatures have fallen throughout the day and as of 3:30 p.m. were sitting at 35 degrees at Bush Intercontinental Airport. Factor in the wind and it felt more like the mid-20s.

The National Weather Service noted that it's the first time Houston has had two consecutive years of measurable snow. Also, the half-inch Houston received today is more than has fallen this season in Chicago, which saw a trace Thursday for its first flakes of late 2009.

Airlines cancelled about 100 flights at Bush and Hobby airports, said Frank Haley, deputy director of operations and public safety for the Houston Airport System.

A freeze warning has been issued for more than 20 Texas counties
