England failure 'may hit economy'

One estimate puts the cost to the economy as high as £2bn.

"A successful run to the 2008 final would have led to a £2bn bonanza for the economy," said Simon Chadwick, professor of sport business strategy and marketing at Coventry Business School.

Professor Chadwick also explained that the impact of England not playing in Euro 2008 could even go deeper than just lower retail sales.

"Evidence from previous tournaments also shows that, at another level, worker productivity normally increases as the England national team progresses through major tournaments and the 'feel good factor' takes hold," he said.

It is not just businesses directly related to football that could take a hit next summer.

Pubs and bookmakers may all miss out because their business is usually boosted by the major football championships.

Perhaps you just don’t like being tracked via your real IP address and wish to remain in the shadows. 1. Corpask.com - apparently shows you coming from Texas.

2. MProxy - this one looks interesting. It allows you to remove cookies and scripts as well as encrypting the URL and the cookies.

3. Hide This - Works fine although it asked me for a password when I tried to access one of my websites. Strange.

4. Da Net Surfer - another one that allows you to strip away information such as cookies and scripts.

5. Fox Surf - seems to be no relation to Firefox!

DEPTFORD TOWNSHIP, N.J. - After months of frustration, a mother of a soldier in Iraq has found someone to ship about 80,000 cans of Silly String to the troops, who use the foamy substance to detect trip wires on bombs.

"I am so happy right now, I am shaking. I just think it's awesome that it's finally going," Marcelle Shriver said as boxes were loaded into a truck Monday afternoon.

The thousands of cans of Silly String are boxed and addressed to individual servicemen and servicewomen in Iraq. But since the string comes in an aerosol can, it is considered a hazardous material, and only certain companies can ship it.
