Dogs have a sense of right and wrong

Dogs have become more intelligent, and even learnt a sense of right and wrong, through spending time with humans, a study shows.

Although still controversial, recent research is beginning to support the view that an owner is perfectly correct when they pat their pet and coo "who's a clever boy then?"

Because of the way owners have selected smarter and more empathic dogs down the generations, these pets now appear to have a limited "theory of mind", the capacity that enables us to understand the desires, motivations and intentions of others, New Scientist reports today.

A decade ago, most scientists would dismiss the claims of dog owners that their precious pets could experience pain, excitement and other "human emotions" as sentimental claptrap that anthropomorphises the abilities of animals.

"Dogs show some aversion to inequity," she says. "I prefer not to call it a sense of fairness, but others might."

Coolest tree-houses ever built

As a kid I’m sure you’ve all shared my dream of having a small tree-house all to myself.

Unfortunately I never got mine but as I look at this dream I can’t help but admire their craftsmanship, I wish I had one of these tree-houses as a grown-up, they’re simply amazing. I wonder if they’re for sale.

World’s First Sand Hotel

The world’s first sand-hotel is open for business on Weymouth beach, Dorset, in England. The 1000 tone-of-sand structure was built in a week by a team of 4 sand-sculptors and is only expected to last until it rains…which, as you probably know, happens quite often in Britain.

The sand-hotel was commissioned by a local travel website that, upon doing some research, found out that 57% of English tourists prefer foreign beach-destinations instead of national ones. So this is like a statement that signifies the rebirth of British tourism. The sand hotel has no roof, so you have a clear view of the star-filled night sky, no toilets and is not recommended for those that hate getting sand between their toes. For an offbeat experience like spending a night at the wonderful sand-hotel, you only have to pay $21, more than a fair price, in my opinion.

"Sunny day" is an installation made of 4464 small medical glass vials filled with different coloured liquids, in a sterile laboratory framework with a fluorescent backlight. When taking a couple of steps back the vivid image of a girl appears, standing at a lakeside, with summery blue sky above. Dimensions 2 x 3 meters.

Set in Haukadalur valley, in the south part of the country, Geysir is one of Iceland’s largest geysers.

One of the must see when visting Iceland is Geysir and the Geysir area, park. As you enter the park area around Geysir in south west Iceland, you can't but notice the phenomenal steam rising from hot springs, vents and streams all over the area.

Strokkur, Geysirs side-kick

It's alternate, though far less majestic, is Geysirs neighbour Strokkur (translation: piston, cylinder or as most call it "The Churn"), Strokkur only manages to squirt it's steaming water a meagre 60 to 100 feet about once every five.

What will become of Geysir?

The water level in the Geysir has been artificially lowered, but recent volcanic activity has reactivated it, so Geysir has somewhat found it's renewed life.

Geysir now erupts to no specific timetable, so there's no guarantee that it'll but on a show when you're there.

at Fairview Wine and Cheese estate is a landmark in the Paarl winelands of South Africa.

built in 1981 by Fairview owner Charles Back and has become the farm's most identifiable symbol and aspect of their brand

Norway - In 2006 a farmer from Ekeby in Norway approached Fairview owner Charles Back requesting permission to build a replica of Fairview's tower on his farm in Scandinavia. The Paarl tower was measured and photographed and the replica tower was completed in 2007, with Charles Back travelling to Norway to officially open the tower.^[2]

The Car Fountain

A fountain in Rome holds a car in the air.

This unusual fountain set up in Rome, Italy is the work of Spanish artist Juan Galdeano who wanted to make a statement that would hopefully draw attention to the issue of global warming.

The fountain was built to look like it’s sustaining a hatchback Seat Ibiza, when in reality the car is being supported by an intricate installation. Let’s face it, that would have to be quite a powerful jet of water to sustain the car. The fountain is available to the public from June 5 to August 10.
