The Sparkling SL and Mini

These days, they cover everything in diamonds and crystals. If you want something ostentatious and tacky but expensive, you need to bling it. For today, we have a Mercedes SL and a Mini covered in Swarvoski from top to bottom. Various colors were used for the second work, to create the Statue of Freedom, the White house, the American Flag or the Eagle. The value of the cars comes close to 1 million dollars and each took around 6 months to make.

April 29, 2008—Pigeons in Seattle, Washington, are under attack by an unknown assailant with a dart gun, officials say.

At least three birds, including the one pictured here, have been found alive with the needlelike projectiles lodged behind their eyes.

The animal-rights group is offering a U.S. $2,000 reward for information about the attacks.

Meanwhile, local animal-control officials are puzzling over how, if at all, to capture and treat the birds.

"They are quite athletic, good fliers," said Don Baxter, enforcement supervisor for the Seattle Animal Shelter. "They're not hanging around waiting for an officer to get close."

clipper's remarks: Best of all, villagers close to the sanctuary enjoy a symbiotic relationship with the migratory birds. Some have been quoted as saying they don't want any factories to ever come up in the area, as this will scare away the birds - like the birds go out in search of food, so they too (villagers) will go looking for work elsewhere! Their forefathers also helped identify poachers and had the British issue banning orders!

Vedanthangal Bird Sanctuary

The oldest bird sanctuary in India

This is one wonderful scene I will never forget. The sun is just about to set. The trees are dotted with birds. At a rough estimate, there are about 75,000 birds.

Archival records show that towards the end of the 18th century, local villagers complained to the then Collector Lionel Place about indiscriminate shooting of the birds by British soldiers. The Collector issued a ‘firman’ (order) - prohibiting any shooting of the birds in the entire village.

115 species of birds have been recorded in this sanctuary. I have compiled a list of the birds I could see and identify:
