The World Beard and Moustache Championships will return to North America for the second time in its history when the City of Anchorage, Alaska rolls out the red carpet for the world's bearded elite on May 23, 2009. The biennial celebration of facial hair is open to everyone. The host for this event is the South Central Alaska Beard and Moustache Club which is committed to making the WBMC 2009 the biggest and best ever. Major sponsors include the Anchorage Convention and Visitors Bureau.

"Her family obviously knew she had survived the Titanic but had no idea about this box, let alone what was inside it.

Felix Asplund died in 1983 aged 73 and Lillian passed away in 2006. The auction takes place on Saturday, April 19.

Watch out!

The cassowary is rightfully considered the most dangerous bird in the world! Its three-toed feet have daggerlike claws from the inner toe that are up to 4 inches (10 centimeters) long! It can slice open any predator or potential threat with a single swift kick and can run 31 miles per hour (50 kilometers per hour) through the dense forest underbrush. A cassowary can also jump nearly 7 feet (2 meters) straight up into the air and swim like a champ, so the bird is quite good at fending off threats or escaping danger! That long claw also comes in handy when digging for fallen fruit in the leaf litter.

Important rain forest gardeners

Cassowaries are frugivores that feed on the fruits of several hundred rain forest plants. Because their digestive tracts are relatively short, their droppings contain fruit seeds that are only partially digested.

Volcanoes are the result of the tectonic movements of the Earth's crust, when magma from the entrails of the planet goes out as lava. They became present in the legends and mythology of all people living around them, which venerated and feared them at the same time.

Amongst the hundreds of active or non-active volcanoes, here is a list that we should all know, about the most significant volcanoes on Earth. They are not aligned by size or importance.

1.The most important volcano in North America is Mount Saint Helens, located in Skamania County, Washington, in the Pacific Northwest region of the US, at 96 miles (154 km) south of the city of Seattle and 53 miles (85 km) northeast of Portland, Oregon. This active volcano is located in the Cascade Range and is part of the Cascade Volcanic Arc, a segment of the Pacific Ring of Fire that includes over 160 active volcanoes. St Helens is the fourth volcanic peak in the Cascade Range.
