In 2007 it published a list of “500 Scientists Whose Research Contradicts Man-Made Global Warming Scares” (pdf). These people, it maintained, supported “the very important view that the Modern Warming is natural and no more dangerous than were the Medieval Warming, the Roman Warming and the Holocene Warming before it.” But they didn’t. Kevin Grandia of DeSmogBlog.com started contacting the people the Heartland Institute had listed. He asked them whether they endorsed the
views the Heartland Institute said they held. Within 48 hours, 45 people responded, all outraged that they had been traduced. Here are some samples of their replies to Kevin and their messages to the author of the list, Dennis Avery: “I am horrified to find my name on such a list. I have spent the last 20 years arguing the opposite.”

Tags: heartland institute, environment, dennis avery

<clipSource>http://www.350resources.org.uk/2009/12/08/the-denial-industry-case-notes-by-george-monbiot/</clipSource>

Permaculture Research Instiute of Australia - The Real Climate Scandal

clipped by: heartlandinstitute
clipper's remarks: Internet/Blog/Article/Mention

Clip Source: permaculture.org.au

The Real Climate Scandal

The third example shows how a list published by the Heartland Institute (which has been sponsored by Exxon) of 500 scientists “whose research contradicts man-made global warming scares”(6) turns out to be nothing of the kind: as soon as these scientists found out what the institute was saying about them, many angrily demanded that their names be removed. Twenty months later, they are still on the list. The fourth example shows how, during the Bush presidency, White House officials worked with oil companies to remove regulators they didn’t like, and doctor official documents about climate change.

Tags: heartland institute, environment

<clipSource>http://permaculture.org.au/2009/12/08/the-real-climate-scandal/</clipSource>

Climate Progress - Anti-science groups funded by Exxon-Mobil hype email story

clipped by: heartlandinstitute
clipper's remarks: Internet/Blog/Mention

Clip Source: climateprogress.org

Anti-science groups funded by ExxonMobil hype email story

Because too many reputations, too many research grants, too much power-grubbing, is riding on the anthropogenic global warming horse. And there’s because there’s a deal of money to be made by it leading proponents, too. In early December, Paul Cheeser, special correspondent for the Heartland Institute, revealed that Michael Mann has received around $6 million for his various predictions, models and reconstructions.

In short there are way too many vested interests to admit that the real science just does not prove their case. But then, as Climate-Gate reveals only too plainly, when it comes to unsound claims for AGW, we are often not dealing with real scientists pursuing empirical truth, nor, sadly, with men of high integrity.

Tags: heartland institute, environment, climategate, paul chesser

<clipSource>http://www.globalwarminghysteria.com/blog/2009/12/7/climate-gate-anti-science-fraud-reputations.html</clipSource>

Media Matters Action Network - Oil Giant Exxon Mobil Gives Millions To Climate Change Skeptics

clipped by: heartlandinstitute
clipper's remarks: Internet/Web Site/Mention

Clip Source: mediamattersaction.org

Oil Giant Exxon Mobil Gives Millions To Climate Change Skeptics

Heartland Institute

For years however, the data of the main players has been of keen interest to those who dissent in the climate debate.
