Remember ‘The green cross code – Stop, Look, Listen’ – Well, there is a new online green cross code and it is part of a government strategy called “Click Clever, Click Safe”, drawn up by the UK Council on Child Internet Safety (UKCCIS). Part of this involves making it compulsory to teach online safety to children aged 5 and upwards in England from 2011.

The Prime Minister Gordon Brown will today be launching this new internet safety strategy for children and young people, at the first the UK Council for Child Internet Safety (UKCCIS) Summit in London today.

This new Digital Code “Zip it, Block it, Flag it” is for internet safety, which will be adopted by retailers, social networking sites, schools and charities and displayed where appropriate.

All of you that work with gamblers anonymous, or gambling addicts, (or any kind of addiction for that matter) know the value of electronic materials, clinical tools and helpful resources.

Many structured 12 step programs are especially effective. Often comprising of a basis similar to this one for example;

First session is usually around motivational enhancements;

Session 2 and 3 explore behavioral interventions;

Sessions 4 up to 10 focus on cognitions, and our thought process’s;

Session 11 to 12 awareness of relapse prevention.

Obviously monitoring commitment via structured activities set as regular homework tasks.

Without a doubt, the most widely recommended “therapy” for people struggling with addictions of many varieties, and conditions such as “codependency” is a recovery group that employs a Twelve-Step program. The original Twelve-Step recovery group is, of course, Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) which was founded in 1935.
