Both Super Mario Bros. 2 and Super Mario Bros. 3 had incredible percussion and drum tracks for 8-bit NES games. If you're anything like me, I'm sure you were surprised and impressed when you heard the hand percussion in SMB2 or the timpani work in SMB3. Prepare to be even more impressed when you hear the score of Super Mario Bros. 2 set ablaze with a full trap set.

Drummer Andrea Vadrucci tears up Koji Kondo's score with some insane drum action in the above video. I've heard many a drum track to many a videogame tune, but this video still wows me. Sure, the double bass is excessive, but it's excessive in the best way -- the way that kicks your ass. My subwoofer just took a 15-minute coffee break after watching this.

3D Fighter Maker lets people make their own 3D fighters. Yes, the title lives up to the name! A recent unearthed clip shows the zany fighters possible with this title. The game was published by Famitsu publisher Enterbrain for the PS2 and the Dreamcast. This clip is something like seven or eight years old. Zaniness like this is timeless, though!

Aw, bless, etc. Yes, it’s an official Transformer, and it’s in toyshops right now. However, I wish for it to be a working game controller, as clearly playing a videogame with a robot is geek nirvana. However, any attempts I’ve ever made at modifying plastic or attempting wiring has resulted in a lot of small, sharp pieces all over the place and an even greater quantity of massive, horrific soldering iron burns on my ravaged hands.

The trouble is, High Score 100 (for that is this robot’s name) is incredibly tiny. How tiny? This tiny:

Smiley Face Game Makes Smiley Face Gamers

Reuters has an interesting story up about MindHabits Trainer, a game developed by researchers at McGill University in Montreal which is meant to cut down on your stress, increase your confidence and make you a happier person.

The very simple game get you to look at a series of pictures and click on the faces that are smiling, avoiding the frowners. By doing this five to ten minutes a day the game has shown to help people feel less stressed and have higher self esteem.

I played around with the game this morning and find it very interesting. There are actually four different games, all of which are about getting you to accentuate the positive in your mind. I could totally see something like this hitting the DS. It seems like a perfect fit.

When we say that this joystick is as big as a car, we're not kidding -- it's actually a car. Park to Play is a car modified to become a game controller, with doors, steering wheel, lights, brakes, and more acting as control triggers for several games like Pong and Tetris. Strangely, no racing games were demoed.

Tetris blocks were managed with steering wheel turns, and in a pinball game, the doors act as flippers. All of the game audio is piped through the car's speakers.

As strange as it sounds, it looks like it really works, though it seems like a lot of work. The end of the video shows a car full of gamers having a great time swinging the car doors open and closed.

There's no word on whether this joystick actually functions as a normal car, but I love how the product's name has safety in mind, just in case.

Above, both "His" and "Hers" variants of TN Game's "3rd Space Vest". What's it do? Plug it into your PC and every time you get punched/kicked/shot/smacked/blown up in a game, the vest will replicate the blow to your real, human torso. In other words, while playing a game for fun, you'll incur real, physical pain. Having paid $170 for the "pleasure". Thanks, TN, but we'll pass on this one.
