Some people experience chronic sinusitis despite adequate therapy with antibiotics and drugs for relief of symptoms. Those that have a CT scan indicative of sinus infection as well as those with any complications of sinusitis may benefit from sinus surgery.

The surgery is performed endoscopically using the same fiberoptic nasopharyngoscope used to make the diagnosis.
The goal is to remove obstructive mucosal disease, open the sinus nasal passageway, and allow drainage of the sinuses.
During the surgery, nasal polyps can also be removed, and a crooked nasal septum can be straightened, leading to improved airflow.
Long-term nasal steroids and periodic antibiotics may still be necessary.
A continuing sinus infection may need further investigation. A culture obtained during a routine office visit or during endoscopic surgery may reveal anaerobes a type of bacteria, which require treatment with broad-spectrum antibiotic drugs, or fungi, which require treatment with antifungal medications.

Disorders of the sense of smell can occur for many different reasons. Medications, metabolic disorders, and nutritional deficiencies are some examples. However, the three most common reasons for smell disorders include head injury, upper respiratory tract infection, and nasal obstruction due to sinus disease and polyps. Head injury may result in an immediate smell loss. Some people in this group will regain their sense of smell, but some have a permanent loss. A smell loss after a cold is also immediate with persistence of the smell loss after resolution of the other infection symptoms. Again, a proportion of these people will regain the ability to smell, but others will have a permanent loss. Smell loss due to nasal obstruction usually in the form of nasal and sinus polyps usually occurs gradually and will come and go, often in relation to an increase in sinusitis symptoms.

Vomiting dreams, though rather violent and repulsing, are quite common among individuals of all kinds. Just like dreams involving excretory functions, the ones in which you or other people (who most of the times represent aspects of your own self) vomit make a clear reference to your need to remove all that is negative in your waking life. This may include repressed feelings, emotions, anger, fears, anxieties buried deep in your subconscious; a certain aspect of your life or of your own self; letting go of a painful past etc. In conclusion, as hard as it may be to confront your fears and emotions, you have to do it in order to succeed in achieving emotional balance and a general equilibrium in the waking life.
