The filenames are in the rapidshare urls; therefore, searching for these filenames becomes very easy. This is another excellent way to fill up your media collection.

If you enjoy finding stuff on rapidshare, you may also want to use this technique to beat rapidshare's time limits.

1. Did you know: You can change both the bit rate and format of CD's that you import? Go to Edit> Preferences> Advanced> Importing. And you can play with the quality at which your CD's are imported.

2. Did you know: You can drag songs directly from the iTunes Store into your library and make a playlist of 30 second tracks? This may be stupid to some people, but if you're determining whether you're actually going to purchase an album from the store, this could be of good use.

3. Did you know: Everything in the source list of iTunes can be lifted from the main iTunes window and made into its own window. Just double click anything in the source (a playlist, the store, etc.) and you can have your own unified window with what you're working on at hand-without the source list.

4. Did you know: There is an unwritten rule at Apple that allows you to re-download all of your older purchased music if you've lost it. You won't find it on any document, but call Apple and tell them you lost all your music in a mac to mac transfer, they'll allow you to re-download every song you've ever purchased free of charge.

5. Did you know: You can reset your authorized machines more than once a year. Just contact Apple and they'll allow you to reset all machines.

6. Did you know: you can jump to songs and playlists without going to the search bar in the top right of the iTunes window. If you casually type in any letters of a song, artist or album while iTunes is the foremost app, iTunes will locate that song. It doesn't work as well as using the search box, but if you need to get to something really fast try it out.

7. Did you know: You can remove items from the source list that you never use, like Podcasts or the radio. Go to Edit> Preferences> General. The option to remove certain source list items is in the general tab.

Here's a program that will semi-automatically download album cover images for your music collection. All you have to do is point it at the root of your music directory and for each directory, the program will download a set of corresponding (well, best guess) album covers from the Internet, from which you can choose one that suits your fancy.

Pandora’s Jar does not come with much documentation and it is not the most intuitive application to use. Fortunately, it is fairly easy to use if you carefully follow this step by step tutorial. Once you get the hang of starting Pandora’s Jar, you will soon have nicely labeled mp3 copies of everything you listen to on Pandora filling your hard drive. This program’s “low” rating is solely because it is hard to use, if I were just rating it’s ability to do what it claims, it would be at least a 4.5.

Clipmarks Tag Search via "Smart Keywords" in Firefox 1.5

Holla my Clippers and Clipettes*,

like I discribed in my Clipmark about fulltext search for Clipmarks it is very easy to add socalled "Smart Keywords" to Firefox and other browsers.

It's definetly a timesaver if you are used to type queries into your favourite web apps a thousand times a day like I do.

I tried the Clipmarks text search with that, but I got no good results. I know that the Clipmark guys are working on a better search function (yeahhh go, CM team, go!), but anyway...

I had to add a tag search to my Firefoxizzle smart keywords!

It's so easy... Create a new Quick Search Bookmark in Firefox and take this string:

http://clipmarks.com/tags/%s/

You can use any keyword for that. I used "cmt".

Tagclouds and following other Clippers are a good way to stay update in the Cliposphere. With your browser's Smart Keywords it's much more simpler:

Type into your browser location bar "cmt music" to get the Clipmarks tagsite for "music". You can use AND and OR etc. to get Clipmarks tagged with "music AND mp3" for example. Just type in "cmt music and mp3". How nice is that?

What is radio.blog DJ?

Have a look at the rbDJ interface. Much like this web site, it's not pretty, but it's functional... However, rbDJ's interface is controlled by Smarty, an easy-to-use templating system, so you can easily customize rbDJ's interface to fit your site even if you are not a programmer..

Integration-wise, at present, rbDJ only integrates with phpBB forums configured to use MySQL. However, rbDJ has a "Generic" setting which allows it to run independently of a database, so even if your community's software is not directly supported with rbDJ, your community can still use it. If you are familiar with PHP, please consider writing and contributing a "port" of rbDJ to other community scripts. See the bottom of rbdj.php for the relevant code.

rbDJ has only been tested with radio.blog versions 2.0 through 2.2. Also, rbDJ has only been tested on Unix/Linux. Compatibility with Windows-based servers is unknown... If you're using a Windows server, please contact me to let me know if this works or not.
