This may come as a shock.

Rule #1. Life is not fair. Get used to it. The average teenager uses the phrase "it's not fair" 8.6 times a day.

Rule #2. The real world won't care as much about your self-esteem as your school does. It'll expect you to accomplish something before you feel good about yourself.

Rule #3. Sorry, you won't make $50,000 a year right out of high school.

Rule #4. If you think your teacher is tough, wait 'til you get a boss.

Rule #5. Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your grandparents

called it opportunity.

Rule #6. It's not your parents' fault. If you screw up, you are responsible.

Rule #7. Before you were born your parents weren't as boring as they are now.

Rule #8. Life is not divided into semesters, and you don't get summers off.

They expect you to show up every day.

And you don't get a new life every 10 weeks. It just goes on and on.

Rule #9. Television is not real life.

Rule #10. Be nice to nerds. You may end up working for them.

Study: Bush, others 'methodically propagated' false info before Iraq war

In a report that is sure to evoke passionate responses from supporters and opponents of the Iraq war, two nonprofit groups have concluded that President Bush and his top advisers made nearly a thousand false statements between 2001 and 2003.

President George W. Bush and seven of his administration's top officials

made at least 935 false statements in the two years following September 11, 2001, about the national security threat posed by Saddam Hussein's Iraq.

Nearly five years after the U.S. invasion of Iraq, an exhaustive examination of the record shows that the statements were part of an orchestrated campaign that effectively galvanized public opinion

The Associated Press says a White House spokesman wouldn't comment on these conclusions. "The actions taken in 2003 were based on the collective judgment of intelligence agencies around the world," spokesman Scott Stanzel tells the wire service.

CAMPBELL: Well, yes. A mythology is not just the fantasy of this, that, or another person; it's a systematized organization of fantasies in relation to the values of a given social order. So that mythologies always derive from specific social environments. And when you realize that every one of the early civilizations was based on a mythology, you can realize the force of this great, great heritage that we have.

You know, all the gods are simply projections of human potentialities. They're not out there. They're in here. That word, "The kingdom of heaven is within you," is a good word. And who's in heaven? God is. So where is he? Look in here. You have two kinds of religion -- that which is addressed outward like that, and that which is turned inward, here.

It also presented an opportunity to write a posting about how you can outfit your computer with all the essential (and non-essential) software you need using strictly 100% freeware and/or open source titles.This posting could have been titled any of the following:

In a culture where sexuality and porn is now a part of everyday life, porn addiction in the church is escalating, according to a new survey.

In a poll of 1,000 respondents, 50 percent of Christian men and 20 percent of Christian women were found to be addicted to pornography. Conducted by ChristaNet.com, a popular Christian marketplace website, the poll asked visitors about their personal sexual conduct.

"There have been dynamic paradigm shifts in the behavior of Christians over the last four years," said Clay Jones, founder and president of Second Glance Ministries, which partnered with ChristiaNet.com to evaluate poll responses.

Many point to the Internet for the pervasive problem of sexual addiction.

"Technology (the Internet) has allowed pornography to flood the market place beyond a controllable level," said Jones.

For the first time in history, the American culture has point-and-click pornography; porn stars have MySpace pages

In the last month, as a Web user I had to deal with spam (in my webmail inbox and on my blog), denial-of-service, and identity theft; not to mention user interface bugs. As a Web developer, I had to work around browser incompatibilities and was forced to expend an effort disproportionate to the complexity of tasks I was trying to accomplish. And it keeps getting worse.
