Concerns about Obama's controversial former pastor, Jeremiah Wright, and Clinton's attempts to paint him as an out of touch elitist, did not seem to be important to many voters.'

In other words, our corporate media keep giving us irrelevancies like someone's pastor or ad hominems (a Yalie who made $108 million in recent years is calling someone an 'elitist'?).

They appear to have liked Obama's talk of a timetable for US withdrawal from Iraq, something the majority of the Iraqi parliament also wants. They were unimpressed with Clinton's pandering on a gasoline 'tax holiday'; a solid majority was unimpressed with attempts to damn Obama by association. Take out the over-65 crowd, and Obama did well with whites. He did overwhelmingly well with new voters.

IFCM: Desktop Version of Clipmarks

clipper's remarks: Derek has said he open to the idea of a Desktop Version of Clipmarks, meaning a version of Clipmarks that would save your clippings on your hard drive. He asked that we start a discussion about what we'd want to see in the desktop client. Derek asks that we indicate how imperative a desired feature is.

Also, if there is anyone besides travislaborde and myself who would like to see a desktop version, please say so here.

Good people, stunning weather and nature. When I was born it was still very much an oversized provincial town, but it's truly become a metropolitan hub now. I love it!

SAN JOSE, Calif (Reuters) - A revolutionary technology that could standardize the way corporate results are reported and speed up trading decisions is facing a big problem -- few people are interested.

The technology, known as XBRL or Extensible Business Reporting Language, has been around for about eight years and is touted as a development as important for financial reporting as the bar code was for retail pricing. It works by labeling financial information with computer-readable tags so regulators, investors, managers and other stakeholders can make apples-to-apples comparisons in financial statements.

But despite five years of marketing, few companies are using the technology and investors are not exactly clamoring for it. Only about 200 people showed up at an XBRL convention this week in San Jose, where it was clear much of the investment community and corporate America are giving the technology the cold shoulder.

But XBRL's backers, which include Microsoft Corp. (MSFT.O: Quote, Profile, Research), Morgan Stanley (MS.N: Quote, Profile, Research) and Reuters Group Plc (RTR.L: Quote, Profile, Research), say the system would simplify accounting systems. And instead of sifting through mountains of information, investors would be able to search for data instantly, or set up automatic trades based on earnings or cash flow results.

Rich graphics Providing rich graphics, changing dynamically. (This is gradually changing with the introduction of SVG in some browsers, but it’s no match for desktop graphics.)
Keyboard shortcuts Providing a full range of keyboard shortcuts while avoiding conflicts with the browser’s own keyboard shortcuts.
Hardware access Input from devices such as microphones, webcams, and gamepads; output to devices like printers and portable gadgets.
Extended communication Communication from the client machine to locations beyond just the base server, and in protcols other than plain old HTTP.
Operating system interaction Catching events such as shutdown initiation; changing preferences; popping up alerts; reading hardware information.

Many people maintain blogs or journals. Many people change the service they use as they change the sites on the web they use. People often start on blogger, then migrate to LiveJournal as they get to know other people with LiveJournal accounts. Then they get to know people on Modblog.com, or set up their own Drupal instance. They leave a trail of abandoned blogs around the net, and readers who don't know they're writing that interesting content elsewhere. This is what happened to me.

MultiBlog allows people like me to maintain all their blogs so all their sites are updated and all their readers get the same content.

Or people set out to post their blog to multiple services, to increase their potential audience. They want to get known as a writer, they want to boost their likely hood of finding readers.

MultiBlog allows people like them to painlessly do this in one click.

The main reason for me developing MultiBlog was to allow me to do this, the entire program is geared to allow power bloggers to post the same entry to as many of their blogs and journals as they like.

When working with AJAX, it is paramount to understand that not only are there many different ways to update a web page but they also have varying levels of performance between browsers. Equally important to understand is that no matter how you update a web page, when you make changes to its (X)HTML content the parsing and rendering engine in the browser needs to update its internal representation of the page (recalculating the flow and layout) and then render the changes to the browser window -- for complex pages or changes this can take a considerable amount of time. MSDN's DHTML Performance Tips is a good overview of DHTML performance
