Turns out it was written in 1958 by composer Leo Arnaud as part of a film score.

Clip Source: en.wikipedia.org

Leo Arnaud

Leo Arnaud or Léo Arnaud (July 24, 1904 – April 26, 1991) (IPA: [ˈleɪ.oʊ ɑɹ.ˈnoʊ]) was a French-American composer of film scores, best known for scoring Bugler's Dream, which is used as the theme for the Olympic Games.

"Bugler's Dream" is very well-known, especially by Americans, as theme music for the Olympic Games from its use in ABC's and NBC's television coverage of the games. It is considered to be a symbol of the Olympics. Arnaud's piece is very stately, beginning with a timpani cadence that is soon joined by a distinctive theme in brass.

For the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, composer John Williams wrote "Olympic Fanfare and Theme," which is often played in a medley with "Bugler's Dream."

The first Friday in May is always No Pants Day

But this year Boise is where the new action is. Check out http://www.boisenopantsday.com for more information about what they have planned for the big day!

“Conventional wisdom has it that No Pants Day (which takes place this Friday, May 2) had its beginnings in Austin in the mid-1980s and is little more than a good-natured lark free of any political or social intent – just a bunch of breezy young adults with nothing better to do than wander the streets in their underwear, scaring children and dogs. But the truth is actually much more sinister. New research has revealed that Trouser-Free Day was actually started in Hollywood in 1928 by a secret cabal of gin-soaked movie producers, writers, and actors interested as much in flaunting societal convention and toppling democracy as they were in making movies”

Tags: weird, clothing, holiday, event, funny

<clipSource>http://www.nopantsday.com/wp/</clipSource>

Instinctual eye styles in stock herding dogs

clipped by: enbar
clipper's remarks: A typology of instinctual eye styles: strong-eye, sticky-eye, medium-eye, roving-eye, and anti-eye. with the stock. Note, it is not
necessarily eye-to-eye contact. For
example, dog may have a fixed stare on the heels. Typical of Border Collies, McNabs and Kelpies, less typical of
other breeds. As with all breed traits,
exceptions frequently occur. Strong-eye
is typically accompanied by “clap” – croaching real low. The total image of the dog presented to the
stock is that of a predator stalking them.
If the dog cautiously approaches, the stock will cautiously move away to
keep ahead of the presumed predator.
Because of this predator stalking imitation, livestock often don’t relax
under strong-eye. Strong-eye works exceptionally well with light
livestock. Whereas, heavy livestock may
refuse to move off strong-eye.

ANTI-EYE

Direct-eye
may put non-dog broke stock into fight mode. This is especially true for range
Rambouillets being worked in groups of five for the first time.

Tags: animals, psychology, random_sh!t

<clipSource>http://members.cox.net/gsdvominsel/eye.htm</clipSource>

The "blog" of "unnecessary" quotation marks

clipped by: enbar
clipper's remarks: Haha! When I’m sitting in front of a real computer though, I would rather access my music from that than a tiny 2″ screen. This doesn’t even count the fact that all my music doesn’t fit on my iPod.

So we thought to ourselves, lets create a really flashy interface to access your music in a very clean secure way from any computer in the world with a browser.

Where is JukeFly going from here? What a great idea!

clipped by: enbar
clipper's remarks: Made of "21.5 micron merino wool" for that luxurious, bacon-on-skin feeling. Unfortunately it's sold out. The creator's comments: "It looks like a real slice of bacon, with all the striations of fat and meat.... Seriously, do a search on 'bacon scarf' and look at the other bacon scarves out there. They use a paltry two colors, and they don’t look as realistic as this!"

Wow... The stuff you find on Twitter...

Clip Source: www.etsy.com

Unsettlingly Real-Looking Felted Bacon Scarf with free shipping

This is a fun felted bacon scarf. The loose red, pink, and white merino wool has been welt felted with warm, soapy water and agitated to hold its shape. Nothing is sewn, knitted, or crocheted in this piece, though I did use needle felting to reinforce some spots. (Technically, knitting or crocheting something and then felting is called fulling.) It is a bumpy rectangle bacon shape, and it measures approximately 41” x 9.5” at its narrowest near the middle and 11” at its widest near the ends. It looks like a real slice of bacon, with all the striations of fat and meat. The pictures don't do it justice. If you want, e-mail me and I will try to send you better pictures. It’s like wearing a delicious, delicious work of art! I kind of don’t want to sell it, but I know I can’t prevent it from fulfilling its felted destiny.

Tags: funny, food, clothing, bacon, random_sh!t, via:twitter

<clipSource>http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=9330217</clipSource>

Good morning, from your cat

clipped by: enbar
clipper's remarks: I have three cats and I swear they must have all watched this.

Clip Source: www.youtube.com

Wake up Cat

'Wake Up Cat' is by an English animator called Simon Tofield and it is actually called 'Cat Man Do'. Law Blog Word Of the Day: Pelf

The ultimate question in the derivative suit, is whether a sentient and alert corporate Board of Directors — faced with a Chairman and Chief Executive Officer who cannot deny having knowingly or recklessly (i) backdated options, (ii) engaged in substantial undisclosed financial engagements with the chair of the Board’s compensation committee, (iii) submitted false and misleading reports to the SEC, and (iv) responded falsely or disingenuously to the Board’s inquiries about his financial dealings in the company’s options – would conclude he is entitled to depart from its employ while claiming pelf approaching $800,000,000. While UHG at one time may have agreed to pay him these sums, it seems conceivable to the Court that the Board might well have decided – in light of the conduct Dr. McGuire has admitted in the SEC litigation - that this payout was uncalled for.

Pelf!? and is patented by Richard Waters (pat.#3896696). Each
                        instrument is
                    unique and
made to order. Richard personally makes, tunes, signs and dates
each Waterphone. The sound of the Waterphone has been compared
                    to
the haunting melodies of the Humpback Whale and voices from
inner/outer space. Waterphones have been described as
                        acoustic synthesizers,
Waterharps, a musical “Aladdin's Lamp”, and “Whalephones”. MegaBass Audio demo

are in fact stainless steel and bronze monolithic, one-of-a-kind,
acoustic, tonal-friction instruments that utilize water in the interior
of their resonators to bend tones and create water echos. In the
world family of musical instruments the Waterphone is between a
Tibetian Water Drum, an African Kalimba (thumb piano) and a 16th
              century Peg or Nail Violin.

Tags: music, strange, via:twitter

<clipSource>http://www.richardawaters.com/waterphone/index.html</clipSource>
