Last week, Pepsi agreed to change the labels of Aquafina to indicate the water comes from a public water source.

Each day an estimated 60 million plastic water bottles are thrown away. Most are not recycled. The Pacific Institute has estimated 20 million barrels of oil are used each year to make the plastic for water bottles.

Economically, it makes sense to stop buying bottled water as well. The Arizona Daily Star recently examined the cost difference between bottled water and water from the city's municipal supply. A half-liter of Pepsi's Aquafina at a Tucson convenience store costs $1.39. The bottle contains purified water from the Tucson water supply. From the tap, you can pour over 6.4 gallons for a penny. That makes the bottled stuff about 7,000 times more expensive, even though Aquafina is using the same water source.

Tags: business, water, drinks

<clipSource>http://www.alternet.org/environment/58604/</clipSource>

10 Essential Free or Cheap Ways to Market Your Freelance Work

clipped by: shaine
clipper's remarks: Standard disclaimer: for more information, read the article.

Clip Source: freelanceswitch.com

Luckily, marketing skills aren’t that difficult, once you learn some basic ideas, and for those of us on a tight budget, there are some free or cheap ways to do that.

1. I already am using my Gmail signature as a sort of "virtual" business card where I list all my social networking links and profiles. Now mine will not be nearly as impressive as Christopher S. Penn's VBC. Hah, I am already chopping it down to an acronym. I bet we will see much more formal virtual business cards and resumes. LinkedIn is a sort of virtual business card, but it doesn't allow for us social media freaks to list all of our websites.

Who else will create a VBC?

Clip Source: www.financialaidpodcast.com

Rather than try to cram a huge amount of information onto a tiny piece of cardboard and paper, I thought I’d put it all here instead.

I believe one of the odd things about clipmarks is that it is very misunderstood by the general web population. Unfortunately, I think that is mostly a product of me being unable to properly explain it. So, when i see a description that so totally nails it, i get such a rush of excitement.

Thanks pokkets!

Clip Source: clipmarks.com

Clipmarks is like a news 'paper', that is written by the readers. Better than being told what the news is. It is like an organic search engine, powered by imagination, curiosity, and the need for awareness, rather than an algorithm. It is amazing how interesting someone can become, when we find they agree with us. Other clips can make clear some of the things, (facts particularly). that we have believed in error. With clear references.
Then there are hundreds of clips that can give your mind a break or a laugh. If you are going to see the world the more angles the better.

Tags: clipmarks

<clipSource>http://clipmarks.com/clipmark/0911A7C9-9AE6-4E50-A408-727B04CB02E4/</clipSource>

10 Techniques to Go From 0 To 12,000 RSS Subscribers in Seven Months

clipped by: shaine
clipper's remarks: Of course, if you want details, you'll have to read the post. How can you make
it easier for yourself? While there is no complete substitute for a good old-fashioned
trip to the library, you can find a wide variety of information with many research
tools. Here are a few sites listed in alphabetical order. You might not be familiar
with some of the resources, but they can help supplement and improve your research.

Artcyclopedia - If you're looking
for information on artists or art movements, Artcyclopedia is a great place
to begin. The site provides links to museums worldwide where works by over 8,200
artists can be viewed. While most of the artists listed are painters and sculptors,
you can also find photographers, decorative artists, and architects. Any art
or art history research can benefit from this site, at least as a starting point.

Digital History

FindArticles.com

INFOMINE

Internet History Sourcebooks

Internet Public Library

Intute

Librarians Internet Index

Library of Congress

Tags: research

<clipSource>http://oedb.org/library/features/best-online-research-sites</clipSource>

25 Websites to watch

clipped by: Yasir
clipper's remarks: See the Target article to read full list and descriptions.

Clip Source: www.pcworld.com

What's tomorrow's YouTube? On the Web however, this structure is either ignored or directly challenged by SE publishers. Yahoo currently charges a minimum bid of 10 cents per click on any SE ad on its site while Google, with an exponentially larger circulation, charges a minimum bid of 5 cents. Why pay double for half the circulation? Are media buyers negotiating this rate with Yahoo?

Tags: amandamooney, web2.0, newmedia, internet, searchmarketing

<clipSource>http://americanshelflife.wordpress.com/2007/06/07/search-marketing-takes-madison-ave-by-storm-and-yahoo-defies-the-logic-of-media-buying/</clipSource>

20 Ways to Use LinkedIn Productively

clipped by: shaine
clipper's remarks: I use LinkedIn.
