Starting in May, the Treasury will begin sending economic stimulus payments to more than 130 million households. To receive a payment, taxpayers must have a valid Social Security number, $3,000 of income and file a 2007 federal tax return. IRS will take care of the rest. Eligible people will receive up to $600 ($1,200 for married couples), and parents will receive an additional $300 for each eligible child younger than 17. Millions of retirees, disabled veterans and low-wage workers who usually are exempt from filing a tax return must do so this year in order to receive a stimulus payment.

A new online calculator will give you an estimate of the stimulus payment you may be due. Just answer a few questions and the calculator will do the rest. Remember: you must file a 2007 tax return in order to receive the payment.

Sony is celebrating the first anniversary of the release of the PlayStation 3.

Friday, Nov. 16, 2007 marks the one-year anniversary of the release of the PlayStation 3 video game console, according to Sony.

Sony noted that more than 200 titles have been release for PS3 since it launched.

Sony recently introduced a new PS3 model to the U.S. market priced at $399, and Sony said that sales have taken off a result - a 192 percent increase at the top 10 retailers in North America. The company has timed a new advertising campaign in time for the holidays, to sell consumers on the benefits of the PS3, including its Blu-ray Disc movie playback capabilities.

Giving Methadone to Inmates is a Good Idea

Even though methadone is an effective tool to fight heroin addiction, it is rarely used in prisons. Researchers have found that giving inmates the controversial heroin-replacement pill along with psychological therapy makes them far less likely to spike up when they return to society.

Timothy Kinlock, the leader of the study, supervised the recruitment of over 211 volunteers from a pre-release facility. Each had served over a year of hard time and were within six months of freedom. He divided them into three categories. All of them received counseling. Some were also offered methadone, and the rest got a referral for methadone therapy upon their release.

Not only did the methadone keep many of the ex-cons from picking up their old habits, but also it made them over eight times as likely to seek drug abuse treatment.

the heroin-substitute has been used successfully for years at New York City jail.

How To Put the System into hibernation or Standby from Run menu

To put the system in to hibernation:-

1]Make sure that the system is hibernation enabled. To confirm that, Click the Start button, go to Run menu and type in Powercfg.cpl and click OK. In the Power Options Propertiesclick Hibernate tab and make sure that Enable hibernation option is checked. Click OK/Apply.

2]Now Click the Start button, go to Run menu and type in %windir%\System32\rundll32.exe powrprof.dll,SetSuspendState and click OK.

To put the system in to Stand by :-

1]Make sure that the system is hibernation disabled. To confirm that, Click the Start button, go to Run menu and type in Powercfg.cpl and click OK. In the Power Options Propertiesclick Hibernate tab and make sure that Enable hibernation option is unchecked. Click OK/Apply.

2]Now Click the Start button, go to Run menu and type in %windir%\System32\rundll32.exe powrprof.dll,SetSuspendState and click OK.

The battle over Iggy, a Brussels Griffon terrier mix, pitted DeGeneres against an animal rescue agency and, at one point, had her in tears on her show. The agency's owners complained of receiving death threats over the dispute.

DeGeneres adopted the dog, then gave it to her hairstylist's family after the dog, despite training, couldn't get along with the comedian's cats

Mutts and Moms agency, claimed that DeGeneres violated the adoption agreement by not informing them that she was giving the dog away

a spokesman for Batkis said she wouldn't be "bullied around by the Ellen DeGenereses of the world."

DeGeneres told the audience she wouldn't talk about the matter again unless Iggy was returned to her hairdresser.

This is the companion piece to the Clone Wars animated series, focusing on entirely new characters outside of the frame of the six movies. Eva Longoria says she has no plans to have children. At least not at the moment.

"Not for me, and not for Gabrielle," says Longoria, referring to her character on ABC's "Desperate Housewives."

Longoria flashed her wedding ring and smiled, but gave few details about her life with new husband Tony Parker as she walked the red carpet Wednesday at Vogue magazine's Fashion Mexico event.

The 32-year-old actress said she always tries to support Latin designers.

"My wedding dress was by (Venezuelan) Angel Sanchez, and I try to do my best to wear as many Latino designers as I can,"

The Texas native, whose family is originally from Monterrey, Mexico, said she was happy to be back in the Mexican capital. It was her first visit to Mexico City in 15 years.

Postpartum Depression Research Too Focused On Drugs

Earlier this week, the House of Representatives allotted $3 million for research on postpartum depression -- the severe emotional trough experienced by up to 10 percent of women after giving birth. Its causes are still unknown.

It is nice to see this issue getting the attention it deserves: postpartum depression isn't something to be dismissed as natural or predictably feminine. It can cause "poor bonding between mother and child, and possible effects on IQ, language and development in a child whose mother is depressed,"

the state of postpartum science, and it's largely focused on attempts to find the genetic and molecular underpinnings of postpartum depression -- underpinnings that could, in turn, be treated with drugs. Non-medicating approaches, such as cognitive behavior therapy and psychotherapy, are an afterthought.
