I have milked Splash, our Jersey cow, by hand; drunk the warm milk, skimmed the cream which comes to the top when it is cooled (naughty), made butter (not cheese); used her straw and cow pats to make rich compost; watched her jokes (all animals have unique personalities); had my foot stepped on; lugged hundreds of hay and straw bales. (NB. Staw is for bedding, hay is for eating.) Although milking is hard on the thumb and index finger, once through training, the process is one of peaceful meditation, both for the human and the cow. Industrial agriculture removes the key aspect of animal husbandry, the personal relationship.

If you're reading this, then you're on a computer and you have internet access, so this likely isn't an issue for you. But for so many others, something we consider so basic is perhaps their greatest challenge. I tip my hat to Alyssa Milano for again reminding people to be grateful and to help those who aren't as lucky.

Clip Source: www.huffingtonpost.com

As we take a sip of our water from the fridge and don't think twice about it, there are people that have to walk hours a day fetching unsafe water from remote areas. Imagine that. Imagine having to walk for hours and hours, every day, just to retrieve contaminated water that will most likely get you sick and maybe even kill you. And the time spent collecting this water, keeps children out of school and women from pursuing economic growth. Not having access to clean drinking water perpetuates the cycle of poverty.

Tags: alyssa milano, birthday, water

<clipSource>http://www.huffingtonpost.com/alyssa-milano/im-giving-up-my-37th-birt_b_384981.html</clipSource>

5 Pressure Points To Relieve Body Discomforts

clipped by: zephyr1

Clip Source: odyb.net

(A) Heavenly Pillar

Relieves stress, over exhaustion, insomnia, heaviness in the head, eyestrain, stiff necks, swollen eyes, and sore throats.

(B) Heavenly Rejuvenation

Relieves nervous tension and stiff necks; increases resistance to colds and flu. Hopefully by the time I stop writing this, i'll figure it out.

This review was posted by a user who I exchanged several emails with, trying to understand the problems he was having and doing our best to fix whatever we could. Most of the time, his complaints were hard to understand and didn't even seem sensible. So it really stinks that his review now sits as a stain on the official Amplify Firefox Extension page.

I wish there was a place i could go to post a review of ConJunTuraL. I think this is what I'd say. "Before you go bashing a company, give some thought to whether your complaints are reasonable. Give some thought to whether your broken English might have impacted their ability to understand and address your concerns. Give some thought to the fact that as a free service, Amplify provides better customer support than Verizon, AT&T or Comcast. But you couldn't pay me to give up my couch to go to the game. Whether it's the drunk, loud fans, the relatively uncomfortable seats, the cold weather, the traffic getting in and out of the stadium, the fact that there are so many breaks in the action, the cost of the tickets, or the picture on my hi-def tv, there are just so many reasons i'd rather watch on my couch than go to the game. Sounds like i'm not the only one who feels this way and the league is concerned...

Clip Source: www.usatoday.com

The effort reflects rising concern among league officials that boozed-up, unruly fans are scaring away the family audience at a time when the number and quality of NFL game telecasts are increasing the attractiveness of watching at home for far less money.

Tags: alcohol, football, sports, tailgating

<clipSource>http://www.usatoday.com/sports/football/nfl/2009-11-18-1a-cover-nfl-fans_N.htm</clipSource>

Amplify in some good company on Capital Hill - h/t @boblatta

clipped by: egoldstein
clipper's remarks: It's been awesome to see Amplify used by members of Congress to share their perspective on each day's important news item.
