Preoccupation -- You think constantly about previous online activity or keep looking forward to the next online session. Some people crave time on the Internet the way a smoker craves a cigarette.

Increased use -- You need to spend increasing amounts of time online to achieve satisfaction. A parent who's spending 50 hours a week in a chat room might neglect basic responsibilities such as doing laundry or making dinner for the kids.

Inability to stop -- You can't cut back on your Internet use, even after several attempts. Some people can't stop visiting chat rooms while at the office, even though they know their bosses are monitoring the sites they visit.

Withdrawal symptoms -- You feel restless, moody, depressed, or irritable when you attempt to stop or cut down Internet use. Some people feel so grumpy in jobs where they can't go online that they make excuses to go home and use the computer.

Lost sense of time -- Everyone lets time slip by occasionally while on the Internet. Consider it a problem if it happens to you consistently when you're online and you're also experiencing some of the other symptoms on this list.

Escape to the Internet -- You use the Internet as a way to avoid thinking about problems, or to allay depression or feelings of helplessness. One CEO constantly downloaded pornography for stress relief at work

Remembering the essence of a clipmark

I just wanted to briefly mention a concern that I've had lately. I have recently noticed a lot of public clipmarks that contain entire articles/pages (or most of it). For two important reasons I am hoping this will change.

First, in my opinion, the key distinguishing aspect of clipmarks is that instead of simply posting links to entire web pages, we are clipping and sharing the best piece or pieces of information from within those pages (the "sweetspot" if you will). It is my opinion that clipping too much information substantially reduces the power of the clip as a way for people to quickly toggle through bits of information about all sorts of topics in less time. Basically, when it comes to a clipmark, I think that more information often results in less quality.

The second reason pertains to respecting the rights of content owners. There are many different types of clipmarks that are generated from all sorts of different web sites, so this concern certainly does not apply across the board. But, when small nuggets of information are clipped, they can serve as powerful drivers of traffic to the source of that content. In this way, content creators benefit from having their content clipped. This is fair and good for everyone. But clipping an entire page clearly lessens the likelihood of a click through to the source page because all of the information can be gathered from the clip. This is not the intention of clipmarks and, often times, is not fair to the original source of the content.

I hope the idea of clipping small pieces of information instead of entire web pages is one you will all agree creates a better experience for everyone and shows greater respect for the rights of original content creators.

what's the point of social studies!?!

Like the title says. You just memorize some crap, like when the Aryans invaded, or things Columbus brought back with him, and then you never use it. It's useless! The info just sits in your head and takes precious memory from your brain that you can use for more important stuff, like remembering to feed your dog. I think schools should use the one hour wasted on social studies for more productive, useful-for-life subjucts, like organization.

Whether it's regarding the Swine Flu, global warming or in this case, the proposed health care bill, people need a better way to understand it all. Ann Coulter certianly has some characterists that make me question her born gender: Tall stature, strong jawline, and that always questionable adams apple. I was just thinking to myself amidst all this controversy about her "faggot" remark, wouldn't it be the the irony of all ironies if Ann Coulter turned out to be the T in LGBT. Perhaps her lashing out against the gay community makes her feel more like a "real" woman. Ann's hurtful derogatory remarks toward the gay community show the true quality of her as a person, and if Ann ever really is outed as a Transsexual, I doubt very much she would be welcomed with open arms into thier community. clipper's remarks: So my last clip was not a big hit but the one before had good number of comments. I know I have not been using Clipmarks much lately (the clipdaddies wants me to use Amplify and the Clipmarks' original steam has been stolen by Twitter, two big distractions, but no love has been lost no matter how many old timers have jumped off the boat). But there's a lot going on here on daily basis (minus the spammers) and I'm sure you must have your list of things you like to see CM implement or change.

I feel Clipmarks needs rebranding and relaunch with more focus on social-networking aspect. Off top of my head, I can't think of anything new I wish to see here except perhaps the landing page for visitors should be their My Guides' Mix page.
