Love triangle dad wants to put things right

A middle-aged dad at the centre of a bizarre love triangle which landed him in court says he wants to rebuild his relationship with the son he tried to run over.

He admitted mounting the kerb and aiming the vehicle at Jacob, claiming he was "pretty upset" being calling a "paedophile" and being told he belonged in a "mental home".

But last night, the 45-year-old beneficiary - who is bipolar - spoke for the first time about the events that led to his conviction and revealed he wanted to heal the wounds with Jacob.

The feud between father and son erupted when James started seeing Jacob's girlfriend of two years, Krystal Clark, 18.

He had been to prison for various offences and talked of a "life of misery" featuring sexual abuse as a child, broken relationships, work as a male prostitute and a six-month sexual relationship with a younger sibling.

Wikipedia Entry of the Day: Five Clicks from Nicolasa the Surfing Cat

When I checked the news sites this morning, I expected to see story after story on the results of Super Tuesday (and I did). What I did not expect to see amongst all of this political commentary was a highlighted video (on CNN) of a surfing cat, four-month-old Nicolasa. You can often find this little wahine hanging ten with her owner, Peruvian surfer Domingo Pianezzi. He says she likes it. Hmmm. Next thing you know, he'll have her participating in a Stupid Pet Tricks segment on the Late Show with David Letterman. Don't sell out Nicolasa!!

Ferrari FXX Pedal Car Almost As Awesome As The Real Thing

If you’re going to make a pedal car based on the Ferrari FXX you have to go all out, and it looks like Berg Toys has done just that. While the FXX Exclusive model pictured above isn’t exactly a spitting image of the real thing, it comes with a list of features that make other pedal cars look like… well… a children’s toy.

It’s got a seven speed transmission, an on-board computer, disc brakes and even semi-slick racing tires with Enzo inspired hubcaps. (Though I prefer the black hubcaps often seen on the FXX.) The exclusive version even has a racing-style bucket seat with a four point harness, a leather steering wheel and an aero kit to keep drag down while you’re roaring down the street at 10mph.

It has been one of the most captivating and wonderful fantasies of quantum physics. Since H.G Wells, it has almost been the topic of discussion even among the common men who walk the street and have no clue about what modern day physics is all about. Yahoo to reject Microsoft bid - source

(Fortune) -- Yahoo plans to reject Microsoft's $44.6 billion takeover bid, the Wall Street Journal reported Saturday, citing a person familiar with the situation.

The source, according to the paper, said Yahoo's board believes Microsoft's offer of $31 per share "massively undervalues" the company and does not account for the risk that a deal could be blocked by regulators.

'Good Bacteria' In Women Give Clues For Slowing HIV Transmission

ScienceDaily (Feb. 8, 2008) — Beneficial bacteria found in healthy women help to reduce the amount of vaginal HIV among HIV-infected women and make it more difficult for the virus to spread, boosting the possibility that "good bacteria" might someday be tapped in the fight against HIV.

The team found that women with hydrogen-peroxide-producing Lactobacillus in the vagina had lower levels of HIV virus in genital secretions -- what physicians call the genital viral load. Physicians know that the lower the level of HIV in the sexual tract, the less likely that the virus will be spread from person to person through sexual contact.
