Time magazine reported that Rove is "dialed in" to the McCain campaign. Rove's protege Steve Schmidt is now campaign manager. And Politico reported that Rove was heavily involved in McCain's vice presidential selection. Finally a new report shows that there are dozens of Bush and Rove operatives surrounding Sarah Palin and orchestrating her every move.

What's the plan? It is this. McCain doesn't matter. Reputable dermatologists are discussing the fact that in simply actuarial terms, John McCain has a virulent and life-threatening form of skin cancer. It is the elephant in the room, but we must discuss the health of the candidates: doctors put survival rates for someone his age at two to four years. You have to understand how things work in a closing society in order to understand "Palin Power." A gang or cabal seizes power, usually with an affable, weak figurehead at the fore. Then they will hold elections -- but they will make sure that the election will be corrupted and that the next affable, weak figurehead is entirely in their control. Remember, Russia has Presidents; Russia holds elections. Dictators and gangs of thugs all over the world hold elections. It means nothing. When a cabal has seized power you can have elections and even presidents, but you don't have freedom.

After a century of losing, can Chicago fans dare dream of a championship?

Bill Sianis holds up a blown-up clipping from Oct. 6, 1945, when his great uncle, William Sianis, tried to bring a goat into Game 4 of the World Series. The goat was denied entry, and a peeved Sianis said the Cubs would never win again. Thus began the Curse of the Billy Goat.

Successors to Murphy the goat haven't sat right outside the manager's office, on cardboard, blithely eating lettuce since 2003 — better known to Chicago Cubs fans as the Year of Bartman.

Yet on a warm September Thursday, the spirit of the goat, and Bartman, and any other cursed thing that's kept the Cubs from winning a World Series for 100 years, might as well be sequestered in some distant barn. These businessmen are seriously considering that the current Cubs, with the best record in the National League, will end the 2008 season cursed no more.

St. Petersburg, (LifeSIteNews.com) – Alarmingly high abortion rates in Russia are leaving an increasing number of women infertile, said Marina Tarasova, deputy head of the St. Petersburg Research Institute For Gynecology and Obstetrics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, at an international conference on Monday.

The St. Petersburg Times reported that with 64 percent of Russian women procuring abortions, 200,000 to 250,000 women each year are stripped of their biological ability to procreate because of permanent effects from the procedure.

The Russian government is attempting to promote family values within the country, naming 2008, “The Year of the Family.” Abortions, however, are still offered free of charge at all state clinics.

Just in case there was any doubt, here is what many women are feeling about Sarah Palin, the person to not vote for just because she is a woman.

The rally was organized by a small group of women, talking over coffee. It made me wonder what other things have started with small groups of women talking over coffee. It’s probably an impressive list. These women hatched the plan, printed up flyers, posted them around town, and sent notices to local media outlets. One of those media outlets was KBYR radio, home of Eddie Burke, a long-time uber-conservative Anchorage talk show host. Turns out that Eddie Burke not only announced the rally, but called the people who planned to attend the rally “a bunch of socialist baby-killing maggots,” and read the home phone numbers of the organizers aloud over the air, urging listeners to call and tell them what they thought. The women, of course, received some nasty, harassing and threatening messages.

An old man was on his death bed, and wanted to be buried with his money. He called his priest, his doctor and his lawyer to his bedside. “Here’s $30,000 cash to be held by each of you. I trust you to put this in my coffin when I die so I can take all my money with me.”

DOOCY: There is a clear winner this morning and it is completely subjective. Take a look. We’ve got a side by side comparison. Examine the flag pins. Joe Biden had a flag pin. Sarah Palin had a flag pin. As you can see, hers is screen right. His is screen left. Hers is about three times the size of his. So I would say flag-pin wise, she is a hands-down winner.

Of course the day after that debate, Fox and Friends never declared Obama the “hands-down winner,” nor did they note the absence of McCain’s flag pin. In the past, Doocy has attacked Obama for “kick[ing] his American flag pin to the curb.” (HT: Raw Replay)

NEW YORK – Newspapers that carried an advertising supplement in recent weeks containing a DVD critical of radical Muslims have faced complaints from readers and questions about whether newspapers should offer a platform to everyone willing to pay for distribution.

Although a few papers refused to carry the DVD, about 70 including The New York Times distributed it on the grounds that rejecting it would violate the sponsor's right to free speech. The decision generated letters, cancellations and even a protest.

"This is definitely the most feedback that I've gotten to an ad," said Ted Vaden, public editor for The News & Observer in Raleigh, N.C. "It's among the heaviest reaction I've gotten to anything. The great majority of the reaction was negative."
