Why windows takes so long to start up.

Most of us have had a brand new computer at one time. It's a great feeling. You boot up windows and within 30 seconds you are surfing the net, checking your email, or playing your favorite game. 10 months down the road things aren't so nice anymore. You power up your computer and it seems to take forever to load.

1. The prefetch cache

Here is how it works: Yesterday you used MS Word, and Duke Nukem 3D. Today you boot your system to check e-mail. It sees parts of these two programs in the prefetch folder and loads them into memory before windows completes the boot process. The benefit is faster application launch times. If you really wanted to use MS Word, it would pop up really quick when you double clicked on it.

What can be done about it? Well there are a few things we can do to tweak the prefetch cache. One method is to disable it partially, and this can be done quite easily.

Simply browse to the windows folder (Ex: C:\Windows) and under there you should see the prefetch folder. Go into the prefetch folder and delete all the files (Careful! It should look like this c:\windows\prefetch) And here is a screenshot of one if you still have questions

One other item that can significantly impact is the "File and Printer Sharing" feature within windows. Obviously, if you are sharing your printer, or folders you don't want to disable this - so this tip is not for you. If you never use it, then why waste your time waiting for it to load?

Here is how to turn it off:

Go into the control panel. Click on "Network Connections"

Now right click on "Local Area Connection" and click on properties

Uncheck the "File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks"

Click OK, and reboot.

Most of us sit in a single position for the whole day in the office, and in the morning / evening drive all the way to our places. As a result at night, while going to bed, many of us experience a slight pain in the back.

DON'T IGNORE IT AT ALL.....this may lead to many further diseases and disabilities as well....

Then, we introduce it to the world and listen and watch. We then react as best we can...putting out fires if necessary. All in all, i'm very proud of the approach and satisfied that we're doing a good job.

In all candor, i genuinely believe that this approach is part of what makes Clipmarks special. If it wasn't for the faith and commitment of so many of you, it wouldn't be possible. But i'm certainly grateful that it is.

Cats have five toes on each front paw, but only four toes on each back paw.

If a male cat is both orange and black it is ( besides being extremely rare ) sterile. To have both the orange and the black coat colors, the male cat must have all or part of both female X chromosomes. This unusual sex chromosome combination will render the male cat sterile.

In fact, I doubt there's on American family today that doesn't count at least one gay or lesbian member somewhere in its ranks. Count them--and then love them. Isn't it totally un-Christ-like to turn against your own son or daughter, or brother or sister, just because he or she happens to be gay, lesbian, or bisexual? What difference does it make? He may be gay, but he's still your son. She may be a lesbian, but she's still your daughter. Sure, evangelical ministers and conservative politicians will continue to denounce homosexuality from the pulpit and urge parishioners to join them in denying equal rights to gays and lesbians. And some poor misguided souls will blindly agree. Clip Sites That Can't Be Clipped

Yes, Clipmarks is a ~~very good tool~~ the best tool to clip snippets of the web, but sometimes there are websites that could not be clipped.

Every Clipper knows the effect and now there is a way to clip such sites, just by installing and using another Firefox Extension.

The extension I am speaking about is called "Web Developer" and it has an option to "outline block level elements" of pages.

Install the webdeveloper extension, click on "Outline" and chose "outline block level elements".
You will then see borders around the paragraphs of the page.

Activate clip mode and there we go:

Clip everything!

P.S.: You can hide the webdeveloper extension if you don't like another toolbar in your browser and activate it ("view") only when you need it.

A West Australian inventor believes he has developed a way to generate electricity for homes using wind power.

Graeme Attey of Fremantle designed the concept which uses a modular wind turbine that is small enough to sit on a the roof of house.

Mr Attey says his modular wind turbine is about a metre in length and half a metre in height, and creates power using blades which are rotated by the wind.
