Vice presidential candidates Joe Biden and Sarah Palin will debate this week.
What would you ask them about their religious beliefs and why?

I would support no candidate for national office who sought to impose a narrow religious viewpoint on our multifaceted nation or one who would appoint religiously ideological candidates to the Supreme Court. So it would not occur to me to question them about their religion unless they had given some indication that they were in fact religious imperialists. I appreciate our pluralistic society.

I regard Sarah Palin's support of "Creation Science" being taught in public school to be primarily a manifestation of ignorance, not religion, and I do not want ignorance in any national office. I also regard homophobia not as a religious issue, but as an issue in which prejudice overcomes knowledge.

clipper's remarks: I could never understand why anyone would want to listen to the hateful shows on right-wing talk radio. Especially, those who proclaim that their religion keeps them on the straight and narrow. Listening to the disgusting rhetoric these Shock Jockeys spew forth creates barbarity in those who refuse to think... When minds are so full of the nonsense from the right-wing creeps, who's only objective is to make money and control the masses, they tend to wreck havoc upon the innocent. (case-in-point, the pathetic nut who went on a shooting rampage at the UU church in TN.) We are all in the same boat. We love and want peace so why look upon each other as though we are just pockets of vermin. Haven't we had enough HATE? I guess there are some who would answer NO, because they live for aversion. Here's a little advice for DITTO-HEADS, you can live in peace, it's really quite simple, just turn your damn radios off and have a nice day.

clipper's remarks: So, in order to get a grasp of Sarah Palin’s impressive foreign policy experience, particularly her unique perspective on Russia, I decided to visit Google Images and take a look at some pictures of Russia. Incredible how seeing what a place looks like from afar can enhance your understanding of their strategic place in the world and prepare you to deal with them in international affairs.

Honestly, after taking a hard look at these pictures, and realizing that Sarah Palin has actually seen Russia from miles away with her own eyes, I feel entirely confident that she has the proper experience and expertise necessary to be President. In fact, I’m thinking that Russia must be shaking in their boots at the prospects of someone with such a unique perspective on their landscape being in the White House.

According to the site, here are the top myths about Barack Obama:

"I heard that Obama is a Muslim and his wife's an atheist," - Leonard Simpson, a West Virginia Democrat. Then this:

Josh Fry, a 24-year-old ambulance driver from Williamson, insisted he was not racist but said he would feel more comfortable with Mr McCain, the 71-year-old Vietnam war hero, in the White House. "I want someone who is a full-blooded American as president," he said.

This guy is a muslim trying to take over religion, rights, gunns, and lastly our country.

Does anyone remember 911. He's cunning and a racists. He is connected with dirty money and bad connections in the rest of the world.

Obama's got his work cut out with these people when he gets the nomination. A summer of engaging and listening with rural non-college educated white folk would help - why not hold a series of town hall meetings in rural America? I don't think any region should be written off by any candidate, especially if the major objections seem racial or religious.

One of the oddities of the emerging media meta-narrative about Jeremiah Wright is the way it is now readily assumed by the broad range of talking heads that Wright's recent comments have only proven the charge that he is deeply "anti-American," embodied in the endlessly repeated "God damn America" sound bite.

But it's also apparent that the larger context in which Wright condemns American behavior -- the reason he shouts "God damn America" -- in fact reflects hard historical realities that Americans, and the American media especially, really don't want to talk about, let alone confront the present-day consequences thereof.

And doing so, evidently, is now proof of being "anti-American."

-- The genocide committed against Native Americans.
-- Slavery.
-- The "lynching era" and Jim Crow.
-- Sundown towns.
-- The forced incarceration of 120,000 Japanese Americans during World War II.

Publicize online action alerts by pro-peace organizations.

Discuss the economic impacts of the war on people in Iraq and/or western countries.

Discuss the casualties on both sides.

Explore issues and impacts often ignored by most media outlets.

Analyze war propaganda.

Roth: Well, the biggest thing would be the war, the deceptions surrounding the entrance into the war. The absolute cynicism that surrounds the deception. The cost of the war, the Treasury and the lives of the Americans. It's hideous. There is nothing quite like it. The next thing would be the attitude towards global warming, which is a global crisis, and they were utterly indifferent, if not hostile, to any attempt to address it. And so on and so on and so on and so on. So he's done a lot of harm.

SPIEGEL: Since your book is set in that week during the 2004 elections, can you explain why Americans voted for Bush once again?

Roth: I suspect it was the business of being in a war and not wanting to change, and political stupidity. Why does anybody elect anybody? I thought highly of John Kerry when he began, but he couldn't stand up against Bush. The Democrats aren't brutes, which is too bad, because the Republicans are brutes. Brutes win.

This article has caused quite a stir in East Hampton and beyond. So much so that the paper has pulled it from their website and Murphy, a regular antagonist of the Democratic Party, both locally and nationally, and the Clintons in particular, has replaced it with a brief apology.

please read what the local Republicans in my home town are thinking, and publishing, about Senator Obama. This is, quite clearly, not to be believed.

McCain: Forever Warrior for a Forerver War

Sen. John McCain told a crowd of supporters on Sunday, "It's a tough war we're in. It's not going to be over right away. There's going to be other wars." Offering more of his increasingly bleak "straight talk," he repeated the claim: "I'm sorry to tell you, there's going to be other wars. We will never surrender but there will be other wars."

McCain did not elaborate who the United States would be fighting. But he did warn the crowd to be ready for the ramifications of current and future battles.

"And right now - we're gonna have a lot of PTSD [post traumatic stress disorder] to treat, my friends," he said. "We're gonna have a lot of combat wounds that have to do with these terrible explosive IEDs that inflict such severe wounds. And my friends, it's gonna be tough, we're gonna have a lot to do."

Buzz at Sundance: Hot Film is Morgan Spurlock’s "Where in the World is Osama Bin Laden?"

Park City, UT: In 2004, Morgan Spurlock swept the festival with his debut documentary "Super Size Me." Four years later, Spurlock has returned to Park City with what appears to be this year's hot film: Where In The World Is Osama Bin Laden?, a film documenting the director’s search for the most wanted man on the planet, with scenes filmed in Egypt (Spurlock pic above), Saudi Arabia, India, Morocco, Afghanistan and Pakistan.

The Weinstein Co quickly snapped up the documentary, after seeing only 15 minutes at the Berlin Film Festival. Distributors who saw the footage were asked to sign airtight nondisclosure agreements.

Many people are speculating that Spurlock may have done what the U.S. government has been unable to do, and actually found Bin Laden. Daniel Marricone, The film’s director of photography, added fuel to the fire, telling the press that Spurlock “definitely got the holy grail.”

Americhristians, Scary as Hell

Americhristian (n), a-mer-i-christ-i-an: a politically active, fanatically religious man or woman

The reason I have felt the need to make up a new word is because the old word “Christian” has become so ridiculously polluted that it no longer carries anything more than a sentimental and overly ambiguous meaning. Christianity has been killed, and a political monster that is slowly devouring the inhabitants of this planet has replaced it. For some reason, in Europe (where I live) the term Christian has become synonymous with “fanatical racist Bush follower”. Scary huh?

In essence, I believe the main reason behind anti-Americanism, and people in general finding “Americans” alternatively “Christians” so abusing is the fact that the Americhristians have high jacked the terms for their own twisted needs. How dare you let them kidnap your morality and dignity?

if you won’t accept my term then let’s just call them what they are. Idiots.
