It must have seemed so perfect.

The report supposedly comes from big-time journalist Joe Klein of Time magazine. And the thesis has some real gems: like Obama's disdain for the Constitution.

The whole thing was nothing more than a satirical post on a humor blog. But Rush Limbaugh, who quoted from the supposed thesis on his radio show, sure wasn't laughing. Here's how it went down.

Rush Limbaugh jumped on it, which immediately sparked Web searches on "obama thesis."

Supposedly titled "Aristocracy Revisited," the excerpt revealed the president had "doubts" about the "so-called founders." Juicy. Except not true. Limbaugh discovered halfway through his show that he'd been had, but defended himself by saying basically the thesis felt true. Listen in to Rush's mea sorta culpa.

Joe Klein finally jumped in, and called the report "nonsense" on his Swampland blog, and the blogger who thought the hoax was real also apologized.

Loneliness, long linked to mental and physical diseases as well as a shorter life span, is contagious and can spread among groups, a new study finds.

According to the study published in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, lonely people transmit their sad feelings to the people around them, causing them to become lonely and isolated from society.

"When people feel lonely, they tend to be shyer, more anxious, more hostile, more socially awkward and lower in self-esteem,"

As people become lonely, they become less trustful and the cycle of their friends therefore becomes smaller. Societies similarly have a natural tendency to shed these lonely individuals.

Such reinforcing effects induce other individuals to act in negative ways and cause the spread of the feeling known as emotional contagion among those with whom the lonely individual interacts with.

clipper's remarks: Over the decades, conservatives and Republicans have forged and fueled fears of blacks coming after your teenage daughters, your wife, your stereo, your tax money, your job, your kid's college admissions, and the music your kids listen to.

It's out in the forefront again with the offensive images on Google. Any so called justification for that hatred such as one clipper posed here on CM is nothing but a smoke screen for the malevolence that lives in his heart.

A hundred and fifty years ago, Charles Dickens opened “A Tale of Two Cities” with the now-famous phrase: “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. ...”

Last year, blacks dared to dream anew, envisioning a future in which Obama’s election would be the catalyst for an era of prosperity and more racial harmony.

Things have not gotten better. In many ways, they’ve gotten worse.

The recession, for one, has dealt a particularly punishing and uneven hand to blacks.

Things on the racial front are just as bad.

In fact, racially offensive images of the first couple are so prolific online that Google now runs an apologetic ad with the results of image searches of them.

And it’s not all words and images; it’s actions as well.

The hard truth is that Obama needs white voters more than he needs black ones.

In fact, commiserating with the blacks could prove politically problematic.

Meanwhile, black people are also living a tale of two actions: grin and bear it.

Remembrance day conman named and shamed

A Remembrance Day conman who angered veterans by marching in a parade with an impossible array of medals was named and shamed today.

Roger Day strode alongside 600 genuine war heroes wearing a beige SAS beret and a dazzling selection of 21 military medals and badges.

Thousands of well-wishers - including the recently bereaved families of servicemen killed in Afghanistan - clapped and cheered as he marched past.

Roger Day on parade and, right, at home today. He denied he'd been confronted at the parade and said afterwards he'd then gone drinking with his 'ex-SAS buddies'

But organisers became suspicious when they noticed he had medals from campaigns including World War I and II, Korea, the Falklands, awards for both officers and privates and even a foreign medal.

His striking collection of medals even included the Distinguished Service Order and Military Cross.

No single servicemen could have been awarded all the medals, and they were wrongly displayed, said experts.

So what's this surge really about, Mr Obama? Hmm? Apparently not Al Qaeda OR the Taliban. Could it be that the core issue is not "defending the American people" -- but establishing a stable U.S. domination over a broad and highly strategic swath reaching from Iran to Pakistan?

President Barack Obama's description Tuesday of the al Qaeda "cancer" in that country left out one key fact: U.S. intelligence officials have concluded there are only about 100 al Qaeda fighters in the entire country.

Obama's National Security Adviser, Gen. James Jones, put the number at "fewer than a hundred" in an October interview with CNN.

With 100,000 troops in Afghanistan at an estimated yearly cost of $30 billion, it means that for every one al Qaeda fighter, the U.S. will commit 1,000 troops and $300 million a year.

At a Senate hearing, the former CIA Pakistan station chief, Bob Grenier, testified al Qaeda had already been defeated in Afghanistan.

"So in terms of 'in Afghanistan,'" asked Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., "they have been disrupted and dismantled and defeated. They're not in Afghanistan, correct?"

"That's true," replied Grenier.

That was before he violently dragged her, while she was bleeding, through the lobby of their building to take her to the ER.

Because he was only found guilty of misdemeanor assault, he was able to keep his senate seat. Because he was able to keep his senate seat, he was able to vote against marriage equality today.

Unlike some celebrities, who like to do drugs and wreck hotel rooms, McKellen prefers to flip through the handy copy of Gideon's Bible. The actor, who is openly gay, always rips out the page of Leviticus that contains Chapter 18, verse 22 ("Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable") from the book

"I'm not proudly defacing the book," he asserts, "but it's a choice between removing that page and throwing away the whole Bible."

McKellen says his actions have inspired others to do the same. "I got delivered a package of 40 of those pages that had been torn out by a married couple I know. They put them on a bit of string so that I could hang it up in the bathroom."

Puppies to rescue stressed out college kids

Students at Chapman University will have some cuddly canines to help them cope with the stress of finals this month. The Orange County, Calif., school’s Active Minds Club has put together a little something called “Furry Friends for Finals.” The hope is that the pups will help students de-stress.

The puppies will be stationed outside the university library, hoping to do their part to help the students survive in the middle of cram week, according to the LA Times.

It’s a brilliant idea — one I could have really used at Northwestern U. And it’s a win-win, especially if shelter dogs or dogs in need of foster homes could be used. (Not for adoption purposes, but just to get them out of shelters and into loving hands for an afternoon.) I hope more colleges and dog people can get together to create a program like this.

The dogs don’t need to be puppies to be therapeutic. They just have to be their good old doggy selves, and they’ll be better than almost any stress therapy money can buy.

Post Pic David Bowie’s Response To First American Fan Letter

Well over forty years since David Bowie became a well known artist (now legend), a letter has surfaced online of what appears to be a response to his first fan letter from the great United States of America.

The letter that started it all was written by Sandra Dodd (Sandra Adams, back then) who was a 14 year old fan from an unknown location in the states. Bowie’s writing is sincere and gives you brief glimpse at Bowie before he had the world in his hands for the taking.

The letter’s on PITT stationery which was the manager’s stationery (Kenneth Pitt). Oddly Sandra never bought another Bowie album as her musical tastes had shifted toward folk music. Can you blame her though? The hippie revolution was about to start without her.
