1. Adolf Hitler was raised and baptized as a Roman Catholic in the midst of a Catholic family. He also served as an alter boy in the Catholic church.

2. Hitler wrote in his book, Mein Kampf: “. . . I am convinced that I am acting as the agent of our Creator. By fighting off the Jews, I am doing the Lord’s work.” He made essentially the same claim in a speech before the Reichstag in 1938.

3. In 1941 Hitler told Gerhard Engel, one of his generals: “I am now as before a Catholic and will always remain so.” In fact, Hitler was never excommunicated from the Catholic Church, and Mein Kampf was not placed on the Church’s Index of Forbidden Books. Yes, the Catholic church supported the Nazi movement and the killing of millions of Jews. There probably were an undisclosed/unknown amount of atheists killed also.

The heavy year-round rainfall makes the island as lush and tropical as any in the Caribbean. It doesn’t stop vacationers from coming for long-term stays. Eighty four percent of the island’s visitors are stopover vacationers versus 16 percent via cruise.

This overseas region of France draws people for its natural beauty, distinct culture, lovely beaches and fine dining. But as much as any other island, there are good and bad times to go.

The island has an average high monthly temperature of 85 degrees Fahrenheit and an average low of 73 degrees, according to the World Meteorological Organization.

It rains 76 inches during the year — about five times higher than Aruba — with an average of 6.7 inches a month. It rains on average 17 days a month, one of the highest in the Caribbean.

The goal and slogan of "healthcare reform" should be quite simple: "Medicare for Everyone."

Why do we have to wait until we are 65 to be guaranteed the right of health coverage?

Who is publicly against Medicare? Just the fringe right wing loonies in the GOP (although a larger number of Republican politicians oppose it as a government entitlement, but won't say so because they would be slaughtered at the polls by outraged seniors who love their Medicare.)

Private healthcare insurance only accomplishes two things: increases the costs of healthcare and denies needed care as much as it can get away with.

So when politicians keep talking about free market alternatives as being more efficient: the private health insurance industry proves just the opposite. In order to make a profit or pay high non-profit insurance (think Blue Cross) salaries, they have to add costs onto the healthcare system. It's that simple.

And they have to deny care as frequently as they can in order to increase profit

The organized church is in big trouble today--the message of repentance is a flat subject among churchgoers. People want to pull a voting lever, offer vocal support for whatever politician pays lip service to a few hot-button social issues, and shout hallelujah as they drive off in their Lincoln.

What America needs is a repentant, spiritual church, not the political arm of a dominionist cult. Want to argue that point? True spiritual authority is given by God to whom He qualifies. His criteria are clear. It is the humble, not the Sunday-morning-the-pastor-is-watching-me humble, but truly Christ-like, self-sacrificing, cares-about-others-more-than-self humble, that God anoints with power and authority.
